Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (88,548) BROADCAST INFORMATION ESPN Play-by-Play: Beth Mowins Analyst: Anthony Becht Sideline: Rocky Boiman THE STORYLINE Florida plays host to Florida State for its final home game of the season, as the Gators will host the Seminoles at 12 p.m. on ESPN. Since its inception in 1958, the Florida-Florida State series, better known as the Sunshine Showdown, has etched itself into sports lore as one of the most prominent rivalries in college football history. In this rivalry of sustained runs, Florida boasts a all-time record against the Seminoles, along with a mark in Gainesville. Saturday marks the first time since 2011 that both teams enter the game unranked. Overall, it is the 7th time since 1966 that both teams are unranked and 2nd since Saturday also marks the first time since 1959 that both teams will enter the game with a losing record (FSU was 3-5, UF was 3-4-1). Overall, Saturday will mark the second game in this storied series history that both teams have a losing record. Since 2015, both schools have an almost identical regular-season record. During that span, FSU is (.676) and UF is (.666). The Gators snapped their five-game losing streak last weekend against UAB, Meanwhile, the Seminoles captured their fourth win of the season last weekend against Delaware State, Florida is 13-7 all-time when finishing a season under an interim head coach. 1984: 8-0 (Galen Hall), 1989: 3-4 (Gary Darnell), 2004: 0-1 (Charlie Strong), 2014: 1-0 (D.J. Durkin), 2017: 1-2 (Randy Shannon). UF is 4-6 for the first time since In addition, UF finished with a losing record (3-5) in SEC play for the third time since RECORDS SET FOR GATORS AGAINST UAB FSU Seminoles // 4-6, 3-5 ACC Florida Gators // 4-6, 3-5 SEC UF held UAB to just 38 offensive plays, which was the fewest plays by an opponent in a regular season game in records dating back to (Ohio State ran 37 plays against the Gators in the 2006 BCS National Championship game. Florida possessed the ball for 42:08, the longest mark in program history since records dating back to Chauncey Gardner and Brad Stewart both recorded interceptions against UAB, accounting for the Gators 33rd multi-interception game since 2010, the most in the SEC during that time span. UF has scored in 371 consecutive games, a streak that is atop the NCAA s all-time list. Florida surpassed Michigan (365, ) earlier this season against LSU. Florida is 27-for-28 (96%) in the red zone in 2017, which is second in the SEC and tied for fourth in the country. In addition, the Gators have the second-most fourth down conversions in the SEC (11) and the second-best conversion percentage (68.8%). Florida rushed for at least 165 yards in six consecutive games (Tennessee-Georgia) for the first time since doing so in 2009: Oklahoma (2008 National Championship), Charleston Southern, Troy, Tennessee, Kentucky, LSU. In addition, Florida s offense has rushed for at least 200 yards on three occasions this season (Vandy, A&M, UAB). Lamical Perine s has nine total touchdowns this season, are tied for the fourth most by a UF running back since 1996 (Kelvin Taylor 13, 2015; Ciatrick Fason 12, 2004; Mike Gillislee 11, 2012; Earnest Graham 11, 2002; Earnest Graham 9, 2001; Terry Jackson 9, 1996; DeShawn Wynn 9, 2005; Perine 9, 2017) With Malik Zaire and Luke Del Rio both recording starts at QB in 2017, UF has started a backup quarterback in at least two games for seventh consecutive season. In addition, Zaire became the 12th different starting quarterback utilized by Florida since 2010, which is the most in the SEC during that time. Florida sits second in the SEC in interceptions (13) through their first 10 games of the season and is tied for 21st in the nation. CJ Henderson s 4 INTs this season are tied for the most in the nation among all true freshmen and puts him eighth in the NCAA overall. In addition, his four interceptions are the second most by a UF true freshman all-time. Only John Clifford (seven, 1970) has more. With his five field goals, Eddy Pineiro became the first player since Jan. 1, 1992 when Arden Czyzewski made five against Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl to record that mark. Overall it is the third occurrence in school history. Pineiro became the first Florida player to have made two 50-plus yard field goals in a game in UF history. Johnny Townsend recorded four punts, bringing him to 234 punts over his career at UF. This broke Eric Wilbur s record of 231 punts that has stood since Gator IMG Sports Network Play-by-Play: Mick Hubert Analyst: Lee McGriff Sideline: Brady Ackerman MATCHUP AT A GLANCE Overall: , Florida Last 10 Meetings: 4-6, FSU In Gainesville: , Florida In Tallahassee: At Neutral Sites: 1-1 FLORIDA (4-6, 3-5 SEC) Interim Head Coach: Randy Shannon Record: overall (HC at Miami from ) 1-2 at UF Rankings: Not Ranked 2016 Record: 9-4, 6-2 SEC FSU (4-6, 3-5 SEC) Head Coach: Jimbo Fisher Record: overall (8th season) at FSU (8th season) Rankings: Not Ranked 2016 record: SCHEDULE September (3-1) 2 vs. No. 11 Michigan L, NORTHERN COLORADO Cancelled 16 No. 23 TENNESSEE* W, at Kentucky* W, VANDERBILT* W, October (0-3) 7 LSU* L, TEXAS A&M* L, Bye 28 vs. No. 3 Georgia* L, 42-7 November (1-2) 4 at Missouri* L, at South Carolina* L, UAB W, FLORIDA STATE (ESPN) 12 p.m. Home: 3-2 *SEC Games: 3-5 Neutral: 0-2 Away: 1-2 Non-Conference: 1-1 FOOTBALL COMMUNICATIONS CONTACTS Steve McClain Senior Associate Athletics Director SteveM@gators.ufl.edu Will Pantages Assistant Director WillP@gators.ufl.edu Dustin Ciraco Assistant Director // #WeChomp 2017 FLORIDA FOOTBALL #SWAMP17

UF opened its 111th season of football against Michigan last Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas. Florida had its streak of 27 consecutive seasonopening wins broken, which had been the longest streak in the country. The Gators are now in season openers. It was Florida s first loss to open a season since 1989 when UF fell to Ole Miss, UF has a 45-6 (.882) record while playing in the month of September since the start of the 2005 season. Against Michigan, Feleipe Franks became the first redshirt freshman to start a season opener at QB for the Gators since Kyle Morris in Duke Dawson and C.J. Henderson s back-to-back INT return touchdowns against UM were the first for Florida since Teez Tabor and Quincy Wilson accomplished the feat against Missouri last season. In addition, Henderson was the first true freshman to return an interception for a touchdown since Chauncey Gardner do so in the 2017 Outback Bowl. Following his five field goal performance against UAB, Eddy Pineiro has connected on 28 of his last 29 field goal attempts dating back to Pineiro is (88.0%) in his career, a mark that ranks first in UF history (Min. 35 attempts). The five field goals brings his total to 15 straight made, passing his previous record of 13 straight made from and puts him third overall on in program history. Johnny Townsend is the all-time leading punter in UF s history with 10,827 yards and 234 total punts. He passed Eric Wilbur (9,900 yards & 231 punts) who held each record since Due to the cancellation of UF s game against Northern Colorado, Florida s home opener was against an SEC team for the time since Sept. 12, 1992 when the Gators played Kentucky. Florida defeated Tennessee in Week 3 with a 63-yard touchdown pass from Feleipe Franks to Tyrie Cleveland. That play is the only time in school history that Florida defeated an opponent with a touchdown on the final play of regulation. Antonio Callaway s catch-and-run against the Vols in 2015, which was also a 63-yard pass play, gave the Gators a victory that season. Florida ran the exact same play, Train Ride Open, Big Bend In. Since 1964, the Gators have ended games twice on walk-off field goals (Arden Czyzewski kicked a 41 yarder at LSU in 1989; Bob Lyle kicked a 41-yarder vs. Mississippi State in 1964). Both of those contests ended by a score of Florida has now won its SEC opener 13 years in a row. In addition, UF its their 28th consecutive home opener, which is the longest active streak in the country. Oklahoma State and Wisconsin sit behind UF at 22 in a row. The Gators recorded three interceptions against Tennessee and South Carolina. Florida has 33 multi-interception games against an FBS team since 2010, which is the most in the SEC during that span. C.J. Henderson is the only true freshman in UF history to return an interception for a touchdown in consecutive games. In addition, Henderson is the only player in school history to accomplish that feat in records dating back to His two pick-sixes tie a UF record for the most in a single season. Linebacker Brandon Spikes holds the UF record at four INT return touchdowns for a career. See page one for additional Henderson notes following his INT last weekend against South Carolina. Franks has started six of Florida s seven contests this season at quarterback. A freshman QB (true or redshirt) has started 81 games for the Gators. Florida is in those games. Franks recorded a 79-yard rush in the third quarter against Texas A&M, which is the longest run by a UF quarterback in school history. UF rushed for 236 rushing yards against Texas A&M which is its highest total this season and the most since UF recorded 287 against Mizzou in Despite him suffering a season-ending injury against Georgia, Freshman running back Malik Davis is fourth in UF s history for the most net rushing yards by a true freshman since 1996: 1. Earnest Graham 654 (1999); 2. Jeff Demps 605 (2008); 3. DeShawn Wynn 540 (2003); 4. Malik Davis 526 (2017) UF surrendered at least 42 points in back-to-back games (42 vs. Georgia; 45 at Missouri) for the first time since 1917 (11/3 at Auburn; L, 68-0, 11/17 vs. Clemson; L, 55-7, 11/29 at Kentucky; L, 52-0). Florida is 2-2 this season in games decided by 7 or fewer points; UF was a combined 7-1 in such games in 2015 & Jim McElwain and the UAA mutually agreed to part ways, Athletic Director Scott Stricklin announced on Oct. 29. McElwain finished during his twoplus seasons as head coach and was hired as the 25th head coach in UF history on Dec. 4, McElwain won 22 games and two Southeastern Conference Eastern Division titles (2015, 2016) during his tenure at UF. Florida s highest AP Poll ranking under McElwain was No. 8, a mark the Gators reached after their win over Missouri in Randy Shannon will take over as interim head coach following a three-year stint on McElwain s staff as an associate head coach, defensive coordinator, and linebackers coach. Shannon has over 25 years of coaching experience, serving as the head coach for the University of Miami from (28-22). During his career as a player and coach, Shannon has been a part of three national championship teams. In his time at Florida, Shannon s defenses have consistently ranked in the top-10 nationally. During his coaching career, he has tutored 59 players who have been selected in the NFL draft. SERIES HISTORY & LAST MATCHUP Series History Florida 34, FSU The Gators dominated the series from , winning six consecutive contests. Since 2010, UF has only bested FSU once in seven tries (2012) FLORIDA FOOTBALL #GOGATORS 2016 Florida 13, FSU 31 (Tallahassee) -- The offensive woes of the Florida Gators stuck out like a flaming spear against rival Florida State. Junior tailback Dalvin Cook continued his mastery of UF by rushing for 153 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Deondre Francois passed for a score and ran for another, the totality of which was easily enough for the No. 15 Seminoles to beat the 13th-ranked Gators in their annual rivalry game at Doak Campbell Stadium.
