Onorato booted two field goals in the contest, the second field goal in the second overtime to give the Pride a lead. It was his 49th career field goal, passing Brian Shallcross who booted 48 for William & Mary from 1994 through Onorato s first field goal of the game, from 40 yards, came with just three seconds remaining in regulation and sent the game into overtime at

2 But it was Hopkins, a sophomore fullback, who stole the show with a 22-yard touchdown catch from Shawn Brady on the Huskies second play of their second overtime possession. Hopkins came out of the backfield and beat the Pride defense on a blown coverage for the easy touchdown. The Pride scored first in the contest, going 44-yards on their first possession with sophomore quarterback Anton Clarkson hitting Isaac Irby with a 20-yard scoring pass. It was Irby s eighth touchdown catch of the season. Onorato s extra-point gave Hofstra a 7-0 lead just 3:49 into the game. But the Huskies came back with 17 straight points as kicker Miro Kesic booted a 29-yard field goal 47 seconds into the second quarter. Then, Northeastern red-shirt freshman linebacker Jay Frank recovered a Clarkson fumble in the end zone for a touchdown with 2:03 to play in the half. Kesic s PAT gave the Huskies a 10-7 lead at halftime. In the third quarter tailback Maurice Murray capped a 10- play, 80-yard drive with a 14-yard scoring run with 9:33 to play in the period for a 17-7 lead. Hofstra then scored 14 unanswered points as sophomore running back Terry Crenshaw scored on a 3-yard run almost five minutes later and then Clarkson hit junior Devale Ellis on a 16- yard pass to cap a 9-play, 87-yard drive to give the Pride a lead with 1:31 to play in the third quarter. The scored remained that way until the final two minutes of regulation as Northeastern pulled some razzle-dazzle out of its playbook. On a first-and-10 play from the Hofstra 34-yard line, Brady handed off to junior tailback Anthony Riley, who ran left. Riley pitched back to junior receiver Corey Parks, who tossed a 40-yard scoring pass to a wide-open Brady, who sprinted down the right side of the field. Kesic s PAT gave the Huskies a lead with just 1:31 to play in regulation. Hofstra started out on its own 20-yard line after a touchback. Clarkson connected with Ellis for 19 and 18- yard receptions to get the ball to the Huskies 43. But it was Clarkson s pass to freshman Charles Sullivan on a fourth-and-10 play that picked up 17 yards to the 26 that gave the Pride the shot to tie the contest. After a Terry Crenshaw 3-yard run to the 23, Onorato tied the game with a 40-yard field goal into the wind with three seconds to play. In the first overtime, Northeastern drove the 25 yards on five plays with Murray carrying the ball into the end zone from 2-yards out. Hofstra s possession was more dramatic, coming down to a fourth-and-15 play from the 30-yard line as Clarkson found Ellis for a 22-yard gain to the 8-yard line. On the next play, Clarkson found Sullivan for an 8-yard scoring pass. Onorato tied the game with the extra point. to the 13-yard line on six plays before the drive stalled and Onorato booted a 30-yard field goal giving Northeastern s Brady and Hopkins the opportunity for heroics. Clarkson finished the game 28-for-49 for 290 yards and three touchdowns, while Ellis caught 10 passes for 76 yards. Irby caught seven passes for 87 yards. The Pride had 365 yards on offense including just 75 net yards on the ground. Murray led the Huskies with 101 yards on 23 carries. Hofstra compiled 533 yards of total offense to 381 for the Wildcats, but turned the ball over eight times on the day, compared to zero for New Hampshire. The most crucial turnover came late in the game, as sophomore running back Kareem Huggins appeared to be about to cross the goal line for the go-ahead touchdown. However, the officials ruled that he fumbled just before he crossed the line, and the Wildcats recovered in the end zone for a

4 touchback. New Hampshire held the ball until there was one second on the clock, and junior quarterback Anton Clarkson's final Hail Mary pass was intercepted on the goal line. Hofstra started quickly as it took the opening kickoff and went 80 yards in seven plays to take an early 7-0 lead. Clarkson was 5-of-6 passing on the drive, which culminated in a 12-yard touchdown strike to senior receiver Devale Ellis. He also completed a 21-yard pass to Ellis on the preceding play to set up the touchdown. New Hampshire answered back and went 77 yards in seven plays to even the score on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Ricky Santos to David Ball. Santos threw what amounted to a jump ball in the left side of the end zone, and Ball was able to come down with the catch amongst a crowd of players. Ellis then had a 40-yard kickoff return to give the Pride great field position, and a 29-yard run from junior running back Terry Crenshaw put Hofstra in field goal range. Rob Zarrilli's 40-yard kick split the uprights and the Pride took back the lead at The Wildcats again answered back with another long touchdown drive to take their first lead of the game. A 25-yard pass to Ball set up New Hampshire on the Hofstra 14-yard line, and one the next play, Santos found Jon Williams with 4:01 left in the first quarter to make the score The second quarter saw the two defenses settle in, as the only points came on a 23-yard field goal from Zarrilli with 4:57 left in the half. That field goal was set up by a blocked punt by Hofstra's Justyn Davis, which was recovered on the Wildcat 7-yard line by Alton Lucas. Hofstra was then victimized by a bad break at the start of the third quarter, as the defense held, but a punt hit the back of a Pride special teams player and was recovered at the 14-yard line. Santos found Ball on the ensuing play for a touchdown to give the Wildcats a lead. The Pride responded, as Huggins ran the kickoff back 49 yards and four plays later, Clarkson connected with Crenshaw on a 22-yard touchdown pass to pull Hofstra within The Hofstra defense held, and the Pride took the lead back with three seconds left in the third quarter on a 10- yard pass over the middle to tight end Brandon Sebald, his first career touchdown with the Pride. However, Santos' pass to Brown with 6:40 left proved to be the difference. Santos was 23-of-35 passing for 285 yards and four touchdowns for the Wildcats, which kept pace with Massachusetts for first place in the Atlantic 10 North. Clarkson finished the day completing 32-of-48 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns and four interceptions.
