Hofstra had another opportunity to boost the lead inside of two minutes as the Pride drove to the Bryant 8-yard line before Christopher, who was eight-for-12 passing for 128 yards in the quarter, was picked off in the end zone by Addison Lynch. The Pride opened the second quarter with a five-play, 58 yards drive with Maysonet bouncing off tackle for an 8-yard scoring run, his first collegiate touchdown. Greco's point-after boosted the Pride lead to 21-3 just 1:02 into the period. After a threeand-out possession by the Bulldogs, Hofstra's 66-yard drive was stopped at the Bryant 8-yard line, resulting in a Greco 25- yard field goal to boost the lead to The Bulldogs closed the gap on their next possession as Croce led Bryant on a seven-play, 59-yard drive capped by a 13-yard touchdown pass to sophomore tight end Matt Tracy. Bird's point-after closed the deficit to with 5:55 to play in the half. The big play in the drive was a 45-yard completion to Mike Canfora, on a third-and-nine play, that moved the ball to the Pride 13-yard line. But after each team traded turnovers, the Pride closed out the halftime scoring as Christopher found Anthony Nelson for a 9- yard touchdown catch with 1:23 remaining. Greco, who kicked two extra-points and a field goal in the season opener against Stony Brook, kicked his fourth extra-point to give Hofstra a lead at the intermission. The Pride had 361 yards of offense by halftime. But Bryant would not quit in the second half and, after failing to get into the end zone from the Hofstra 4-yard line after a 16- play drive, held Hofstra to a three-and out and forced the Pride to punt from their end zone. Shane Casciano's punt attempt was blocked by Nick Candito with Kevin Menawonu recovering on the Pride 3-yard line. Three plays later, Jerell Smith, who went over the 2,000 rushing yards mark in his career in the first quarter, rushed four yards for the touchdown. Bird's extra-point brought the Bulldogs back to within two scores at with 38 second to play in the period. Hofstra could only manage 16 yards on two possessions in the quarter but held Bryant to just 46. The Bulldogs inched closer early in the fourth as Croce found Pritchard down the visitor's sideline for a 57-yard touchdown. Bird's point-after closed the deficit to with 12:13 to play in the game. But on the very next possession Christopher found Dennis streaking down the Hofstra sideline for a 45-yard touchdown to boost the score to with 10:19 to play as Greco's point-after was missed.

17 The Pride defense stiffened after that, holding the Bulldogs to 37 yards on their next three possessions. Greco closed out the scoring with 6:22 to play with a 24-yard field goal. Richmond quarterback Eric Ward completed 12 of 16 passes for 165 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Spiders, who recorded their third straight victory over the Pride to take a 4-3 lead in the series. Senior running back Justin Forte led the Spiders ground attack with 72 yards on 12 carries while junior receiver Kevin Grayson caught four passes for 45 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore Donte Boston had two catches for 65 yards and one touchdown. Richmond accumulated 378 yards, including 213 rushing, on the day. Hofstra, which had 199 yards of offense, including just 13 on the ground, was led by senior quarterback Cory Christopher, who completed 17 of 26 passes for 172 yards but was sacked four times and was credited with three of the Pride s four fumbles. Junior receiver Aaron Weaver caught four passes for 73 yards while red-shirt freshman quarterback Joe Sidaras and sophomore running back Kwabena Asante each had five carries for 15 yards on the ground. After the Pride held Richmond to three-and-out on the opening possession, Christopher fumbled on his own 34 with UR end Nicholas Battle recovering. The Pride defense held the Spiders, including four plays inside the 10, with Richmond settling for a 27-yard field goal by Andrew Howard. After exchanging punts, with the Hofstra defense, once again, holding the Spiders to three-and-out, the Pride offense put the ball on the ground again as Christopher was hit by Battle, fumbled, with junior linebacker Eric McBride picking up the ball and rambling 36 yards to the Hofstra five-yard line. Three plays later freshman running back Kendall Gaskins pushed his way into the end zone from two yards out for the score 39 seconds into the second quarter. Howard s extra-point gave the Spiders a 10-0 lead. On the Pride s next possession, Richmond held Hofstra on its own 25-yard line forcing the Pride to punt. But on the fourthand-12 punt, punter Shane Casciano passed to cornerback Leslie Jackman for a gain of 14. But the senior was hit by Derek Hatcher, fumbled and Richmond lineman Pierre Turner recovered at the Hofstra 39. Three plays later, on a third-and 20 play, Spider quarterback Eric Ward found Donte Boston down the sideline for a 49-yard touchdown. Howard s pointafter boosted the Spider lead to 17-0 with 12:15 to play in the first half. Hofstra executed its best drive of the first half on its next possession, driving from its own 20-yard line to the Richmond 16 in 11 plays when, on a third-down play, Christopher was sacked by Jordan Shoop, fumbled with Battle recovering on the 23 yard line. Ward went to work again, hitting Boston for 16 yards and Kevin Grayson for 13 before Forte posted rushing gains of seven, nine and nine yards to move the ball to the Hofstra 23. Two plays later, Ward hit Max Prokell for a 23-yard touchdown. Howard s point-after moved the Spider lead to 24-0 with 4:28 to play in the half. The Spiders held the Pride to three-and-out on its next possession and took over after the punt on the Hofstra 48. Ward engineered a seven-play drive capped by a 17-yard scoring pass to Grayson. Howard s extra-point made it 31-0 with 50 seconds to play in the first half to close out the first half scoring. Richmond boosted its lead, to 38-0 on its first possession of the second half moving 64 yards on 9-plays with Ward completing a two-yard pass to Ben Keating. GAME 4 - SEPTEMBER 26 AT WESTERN MICHIGAN: Quarterback Tim Hiller completed 34 of 43 passes for 338 yards and two touchdowns to lead FBS Western Michigan to a victory over the Hofstra Pride at Waldo Stadium. Hofstra senior quarterback Cory Christopher completed 17 of 27 passes for 188 yards and one touchdown while junior receiver Aaron Weaver hauled in eight passes for a seasonhigh 109 yards and one touchdown. The Pride posted 329 yards on the night. Hofstra, playing without starting fullback Everette Benjamin for the second straight game, racked up 140 yards on the ground with sophomore Kwabena Asante posting a team-high 50 yards on 10 carries and freshman Miguel Maysonet adding 33 yards on five carries. Hiller, who tied Ben Rothlisberger for fifth place on the MAC's all-time career touchdown pass list with 84, led the Broncos with junior receiver Jordan White hauling in nine passes for 101 yards and a touchdown and junior Caleb Ravenall catching seven passes for 99 yards. Senior Brandon West rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. The Broncos recorded 471 yards in the game. The Pride rebounded from a mistake-laden game last week to impress the partisan crowd of 16,116 at Waldo Stadium. After the Pride offense moved the ball into Bronco territory on their first possession but was forced to punt, the Hofstra defense stood tall on their first test of the contest. Western, taking over on its own 20 drove 77 yards to the Pride three-yard line in 13 plays behind the arm of Hiller, who completed his first five passes. But the Pride stopped the Broncos on third and fourth and-one plays from the three to take over on downs as Greg Melendez and Luke Bonus came up with the big tackle. It looked like it would be a scoreless first quarter but on Western's next possession after a Hofstra punt, Hiller, from his own 28, was picked off by Pride safety Ray McDonough at the Hofstra 46. It was McDonough's first of the season and fifth of his career. On Hofstra's second play, after an 11-yard rush by Kwabena Asante, Christopher threw a swing pass out to Weaver, who ran 46 yards down the Western sideline for his first touchdown of the season. Henry Greco's point-after gave the Pride a 7-0 lead as time expired in the first quarter. The Broncos got on the board in the second quarter after a Pride miscue. After Hofstra forced Western to punt on their first possession of the second, punter Ben Armer pinned the Pride back on their own two-yard line. On the Pride's first play, freshman Miguel Maysonet broke away for a gain of seven before being stripped of the ball by Jamail Berry with tackle Cody Cielenski recovering at the eight. The Pride defense once again held, forcing Western to settle for a 24-yard field goal by John Potter to close the deficit to 7-3 with 11:23 to play in the half. But the Pride came right back and drove 54-yards in 10 plays before senior Greco booted a 23-yard field goal with 6:14 remaining to boost the Hofstra lead to The big play in the drive was a 37-yard completion from Christopher to Weaver that moved the ball to the Bronco five-yard line. A three-yard scoring run by reserve quarterback Steve Probst was nullified by an illegal shift penalty on the Pride near the end of the drive. The Pride field goal sparked Western as Hiller came right back and directed a 74-yard, 5-play drive in 1:42, capped by a 16- yard scoring pass up the middle to junior receiver Jordan White. Potter's extra-point tied the game at 10-all with 4:32 to play in the half. Hiller was four-for-four for all 74 yards in the drive. Western held the Pride on their next possession but Hofstra left them on their own six-yard line after the punt. But Hiller went to work again, going six-for-six for 74 yards in the eightplay, 94-yard drive that was capped by a nine-yard scoring run by senior Brandon West with 38 seconds remaining in the half. The drive took 1:33. Potter's point-after closed the first half scoring with the Broncos leading Hiller was 20-for-26 for 226 yards in the first half. Christopher, who found Weaver five times for 87 yards in the first two quarters, was nine-for-12 for 126 yards. The third quarter was scoreless as both defenses stood their ground. Hofstra had a scoring opportunity late in the period

19 after Pride linebacker Basim Hudeen caused and recovered a Western fumble at the Bronco 46-yard line. Five plays later, Greco's 43-yard field goal attempt had the distance but was wide left. Western boosted the lead to on another long drive Hiller directed an 11-play, 77-yard drive and hit senior tight end Matt Stevens with a one-yard scoring toss. Potter's point-after gave the Broncos a 14-point lead with 9:25 to play in the game. The Pride then mounted a promising drive, moving the ball to the Broncos 24-yard line. But a fourth-and-three pass was broken up giving the ball back to Western. The Broncos ran out the clock the rest of the way. Hofstra sophomore Greg Melendez led the Pride defensive charge with a career-high 12 tackles while classmate Basim Hudeen tallied 10 tackles and Brock Jackolski posted a careerhigh eight stops. Shuart Stadium. Hofstra quarterbacks Cory Christopher and Steve Probst combined for three touchdowns (two passing) as Hofstra posted its highest top-10 victory since a win over No. 7 UMass in 2005.Wilson caught the first two touchdowns of his career and set a personal-high with 65 receiving yards on four catches while starting fullback Everette Benjamin picked up 58 yards on 12 rushes to boost the Pride to 3-2 and 1-1 in conference play. James Madison fell to 2-2 and 0-1. Benjamin returned after missing the last two weeks to lead the Pride ground attack and converted two Hofstra fourth-down chances, including from 1-yard out and a 5-yard gain on fourthand-two to extend a Pride drive at the opposing 25-yard line. The Pride scored first late in the first quarter as Christopher engineered a 10-play, 79-yard drive and then ran the last 17- yards for the touchdown with 5:26 to play in the first. Henry Greco s extra-point made it 7-0. But JMU came right back, and following a 54-yard kickoff return to the Pride 33-yard line by Scotty McGee, drove and had three shots from the 6 stopped by the Hofstra defense. The Dukes had to settle for a 23-yard field goal from Dixon Wright. In the second quarter, the Pride put together a quick threeplay, 48-yard drive with Probst hitting Wilson for a 34-yard touchdown. Greco s PAT boosted the Pride lead to 14-3 with 10:34 to play in the half. Once again, JMU came right back and, after Scott Noble s 30-yard kickoff return gave the Dukes the ball on the Pride 45, Justin Thorpe rushed 37-yards to paydirt on the second play to close the deficit to just 57 seconds later. Late in the quarter, Hofstra mounted a 15-play, 66-yard drive that was interrupted by a 47-minute lightning delay, with Christoper finding Wilson for a 4-yard touchdown with five seconds remaining in the half. Greco s extra-point gave the Pride a lead at the intermission. While both defenses stiffened in the second half, James Madison came out in the third and immediately closed the gap with a 12-play, 57-yard march with Noble taking it into the end zone from one-yard out with 7:51 to play. Defenses stood tall in the final two quarters. While Hofstra was held to 65 yards in the second half, JMU could only muster 77 yards but only 11 total yards in the fourth. MAINE: Hempstead, NY- Maine recorded five interceptions and two fumble recoveries and Warren Smith threw for two touchdowns as Hofstra fell on Homecoming, 16-14, to the Black Bears in a CAA matchup at James M. Shuart Stadium. Despite outgaining the Black Bears, , and picking up 32 first downs to Maine's 11, the Pride let their best offensive yardage production since 2005 against New Hampshire go by the wayside, thanks in large part to 10 Maine points off turnovers. Pride freshman tailback Miguel Maysonet rushed for a careerhigh 95 yards on seven carries and sophomore quarterback Steve Probst chipped in another 91 yards on 12 rushes. Senior quarterback Cory Christopher completed 22 of 32 passes for 223 yard, one touchdown and three interceptions while Probst was two-for-eight for 17 yards with two interceptions. Three Pride receivers each recorded six catches with sophomore Christian Dennis picking up a career-high 80 yards, junior Anthony Nelson gaining 60 yards and classmate Aaron Weaver adding 53 yards and a touchdown. Weaver also went over the 100-reception mark in his Hofstra career. The Black Bears were led by sophomore quarterback Warren Smith, who completed 15 of 25 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 16 times for 82 yards. Junior Tyrell Jones hauled in four passes for 86 yards while senior Landis William caught four passes for 45 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore linebacker Donte Dennis picked off two of the five passes for the Black Bears. Maine got on the scoreboard first, on its opening possession, driving 60 yards on six plays capped by a Warren Smith five yard touchdown pass to Julian McCall at the 12:17 mark of the first quarter. Jordan Waxman missed the extra-point for the 6-0 lead. On Hofstra's first possession, the Black Bears held the Pride to three-and-out. It would be Hofstra's only possession in the first half that didn't end in a turnover. The Pride's next five possessions in the first half and the first in the third quarter would all end in miscues with five interceptions and one fumble. The Hofstra defense was able to keep Maine at bay until late in the second quarter when, after an interception, Smith directed a nine-play, 62-yard drive and found Landis Williams for an 18- yard touchdown pass with 1:17 to play in the half. Waxman's point-after gave the Black Bears a 13-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, after both Hofstra and Maine exchanged turnovers to end their initial drive, the Pride took over on their own 35 following a Maine fumble. Probst directed a sevenplay, 65 yard drive that ended with Benjamin busting up the middle for a one-yard score. Greco's extra-point closed the gap to 13-7 with 8:18 to play in the third. Probst picked up 42 yards on the ground in the drive on four rushes. While the Pride defense tightened, the offense racked up yardage with little to show. Hofstra mounted a 13-play, 70-yard drive at the end of the third and into the fourth quarter that ended with a missed Greco field goal nine seconds into the final stanza. But Maine, which had two lost fumbles and one interception, had its next drive stopped by a Greg Melendez interception and return to the Hofstra 21-yard line. The Pride gave the ball back seven plays later near midfield when Jordan Stevens stripped the ball out of Probst's hands. Maine linebacker Donte Dennis fell on the loose ball at the Hofstra 46-yard line with nine minutes left in game. Maine took advantage of Hofstra's seventh turnover, going 11 plays before settling for Waxman's 28-yard field goal that boosted the lead to But the Pride came right back and marched 72 yards on 10 plays with Christopher hitting Aaron Weaver with a four-yard touchdown strike in the back of the end zone with 2:22 to play. Greco's point-after cut the gap to Christopher was sixfor nine for 50 yards in the drive and added a big 18-yard run. With only one timeout remaining, Hofstra attempted an onside kick that Derek Buttles recovered. The Pride got a stop and had one last drive with 38 seconds left but saw its comeback hopes end when Christopher was sacked at the Maine 48-yard line on a fourth-and-four play to secure Maine's win. The Pride defense was led by senior linebacker Luke Bonus with nine tackles and sophomore linebacker Greg Melendez added nine tackles and an interception. Freshman Ayo Isojola led the Rams on the ground with 24 yards on seven carries while junior Anthony Ferrer added 10 yards and a touchdown on eight rushes. Defenses stood tall in the first half as the two teams combined for just 10 points. The Pride threatened on the opening possession of the contest. After Brock Jackolski's 59-yard kickoff return was called back by a holding call, Christopher mounted a 14-play, 68-yard drive moving the ball to Rams 17- yard-line. But a Henry Greco 34-yard field goal attempt was wide right. Christopher was five-for-five for 31 yards and rushed four times for 20 yards in the drive. After the Pride held URI to three-and out on their opening possession, Hofstra marched 67 yards on eight plays with Benjamin running it into the end zone from one yard out with nine seconds remaining in the first quarter. Greco's extra-point gave the Pride a 7-0 lead. The Rams came right back in the second quarter following the Hofstra touchdown and moved the ball 41-yards in nine-plays to the Pride 14 before settling for a 31-yard field goal by Louis Feinstein with 11:29 to play in the half. Paul-Etienne had a big 18-yard run in the drive and Ferrer picked up a key first down on a fourth-and-one to keep the Rams' drive alive. It was also URI's longest drive of the half. The Pride offense exploded in the second half behind Probst. After the defense stopped the Rams on the opening possession of the second half, Hofstra took over on their own 10-yard line following the Rhode Island punt. On the third play from scrimmage, Probst hit Anthony Nelson streaking down the visiting sideline for an 89-yard touchdown. Greco's point-after boosted the lead to 14-3 with six minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Pride defense held the Rams again, getting the offense the ball on the Hofstra 40. This time, Probst did it with his feet. After a completion to Nelson, a 31-yard run by Benjamin, and two penalties, Probst rushed 29 yards up the middle for his first touchdown of the season. Greco's extra-point boosted the lead to 21-3 with 22:22 to play in the third quarter. The Pride had a chance to blow the game wide open early in the fourth quarter, driving down to the URI 1-yard-line. But the Rams did not quit and stopped Hofstra twice on the one before taking over on downs. The URI offense came alive two possessions later as Paul-Etienne directed a seven-play, 72- yard drive capped by a Ferrer one-yard run with 3:52 to play. The two-point conversion pass failed as the Rams trailed Hofstra responded immediately after URI's on-side kick was recovered by Jose Cruz at the Rams 40-yard line. Maysonet rushed four times for 36 yards in the five-play drive, including the final 24 yards for his second touchdown of the season. Greco's kick gave the Pride a 28-9 advantage with 1:19 to play, Rhode Island, playing before a Homecoming crowd of 5,159, put together a textbook two-minute drill, going 70 yards in six plays in just one minute with Paul-Etienne taking it in from 10 yards out to close the scoring F Hofstra Rhode Island Scoring Summary HU- Benjamin 1-yard run (Greco kick) URI- Feinstein 31-yard field goal HU- Nelson 89-yard pass from Probst (Greco kick) HU- Probst 29-yard run (Greco kick) URI- Ferrer 1-yard run (Pass failed) HU- Maysonet 24-yard run (Greco kick) URI- Paul-Etienne 10-yard run (Feinstein kick) HOFSTRA URI First Downs (R-P-Pe) Rushes-Yards (Net) Passing Yards (Net) Passes Comp-Att-Int Total Offense/Plays-Yards Punt Returns-Yards Kickoff Returns-Yards
