He spent another season on the scout team, attempting just two passes during the season. He entered the season as the third-string QB, but in the fifth game of the season at No. 3 Oklahoma, Kempt received his first career start. ISU-SDSU GAME CANCELLED The Cyclones opened their season vs. Iowa (Sept. 8) after their game vs. South Dakota State was cancelled. ISU jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead (10:55 in 1st Q) vs. SDSU, but lightning and severe storms forced a halt in play. After an almost 2-hour and 30-minute delay, officials from both schools decided to cancel the game with more storms in the forecast. The game is considered a no contest, and all stats accrued will not count. It marked the first time ISU had a game cancelled (vs. Drake) since Nov. 23, 1963 (JFK assassination). Rescheduling with South Dakota State seems unlikely, however ISU officials are looking into the possibility of finding another opponent for its bye week (Oct. 20) or Dec. 1.
