(Notre Dame De Sion College Prep) Coaching Staff Head Coach: Urska Juric Drake women s tennis The Drake women s tennis team finished with an overall record in The team lost seniors Veronika Leszayova and Kari Sloboth, but welcome freshmen Manca Krizman and Ali Patterson. This year, the Bulldogs are led by junior Jessica Labarte and sophomore Jessica Aguilera, who competed in the ITA Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regional in the fall season. Kansas women s tennis Kansas enters the season returning six letterwinners, including two players that qualified for the ITA Regional Tournament in fall and one who received All-Big 12 honors in the season. In addition, Kansas recruited two Jayhawks who qualified for the ITA Regional Tournament in fall as freshmen. Although the team is young, there is no lack of talent. Last meeting The Bulldogs came to Lawrence, Kan. to take on the Jayhawks last year on Feb. 1. The Jayhawks won 5-2. 3 Quickly The Kansas women s tennis team travels to Drake University to open its spring season on Saturday, Jan. 30 in Des Moines, Iowa. Match play is slated to begin at 10 a.m. KU owns a 12-2 advantage in the all-time series and has won the last eight consecutive contests. -KU has no players from the state of Iowa on its roster, but Drake has two. Sophomore Earlynn Lauer is from Wichita, Kan., while freshman Ali Patterson is from Overland Park, Kan. -Kansas junior Maria Martinez and sophomore Alessandra Dzuba rank 44th in the country as a doubles team to start the season. UP NEXT Kansas will open its home season when it hosts No. 6 Notre Dame at First Serve Tennis Center next Friday, Feb. 5. The Jayhawks will then stay at home to host UMKC on Feb. 10 and then a double-header with Iowa and South Dakota on Feb

4 Head coach Amy Hall-Holt ranked throughout Hall-Holt s time at KU as well, including current senior Edina Horvath. Horvath and her doubles partner, graduate Elizaveta Avdeeva, were tabbed 36th in the 2007 fall doubles poll. Hall-Holt also continues to land top-flight recruiting classes at KU. This season, the Jayhawks welcome two freshmen who will join a returning core that boasts one senior, twojuniors and threesophomores. Amy Hall-Holt enters her seventh season as the University of Kansas head tennis coach. This season will mark her 13th year with the Jayhawk program overall. Under Hall-Holt s guidance, KU has garnered numerous accomplishments, both on and off the courts. During her tenure, Hall-Holt has seen her players receive All-Big 12 recognition six times, including current Jayhawk Edina Horvath. Hall-Holt s players also excel in the classroom. In 2005, the tennis squad set an all-time Kansas Athletics record by posting a 3.49 GPA. Under Hall-Holt s leadership, KU has placed 13 athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 team. Current junior Kunigunda Dorn earned the distinction last season. In 2007, Kansas was ranked as high as 55th in the ITA national poll, and numerous individuals have been Prior to joining the Jayhawk staff, Hall-Holt spent two seasons at Eastern Kentucky as an assistant for both the men s and women s programs. At EKU, she was responsible for on-court coaching, organizing travel, scheduling arrangements and coordinating recruiting efforts for the Colonels tennis teams. She also controlled the off-season conditioning programs. Before her coaching duties at Eastern Kentucky, Hall- Holt worked as a student assistant to the athletics director. She graduated from Murray State in 1995 with a degree in health education and physical education. Hall-Holt, a member of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and the United States Tennis Association, earned a master s degree in physical education with an emphasis in sports administration from Eastern Kentucky in On July 10, 2004, Hall-Holt was married in Kentucky to her husband, Rance Holt, who works as the offensive coordinator at Haskell University in Lawrence.
