1 NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE YEAR The Missouri Athletic Club Award and Hermann Trophy were merged into one award prior to the 2002 season. Before that, the honors were both given out as national player of the year awards. The merge of the two honors completed a process of combining the three top honors in collegiate soccer. In 1999, the M.A.C. and National Soccer Coaches Association of America came together to create a single award to recognize the top Division I player. The M.A.C. Hermann Trophy is considered the Heisman of College Soccer. For the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy, a watch list consisting of 25 players considered to be among the top players entering the college season is released during the preseason. A list of 15 semifinalists is announced in November, with three finalists selected at the College Cup. 4 S LAZO ALAVANJA , 1997, Totals Alavanja is one of seven IU players to earn All-America honors on three occasions. He was a second team selection in both 1996 and 1997 and earned first team honors in He also also earned All-Big Ten and All-Region honors in each of those three seasons. Alavanja was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 1995 and then earned the conference s player-of-the-year award in both 1997 and He was a part of four Big Ten Championship teams and concluded his career with an NCAA Championship in That season Alavanja scored 11 goals and 32 points as the Hoosiers posted a 23-2 mark. The prior season, in 1997, the Hoosiers advanced to the College Cup and suffered their lone loss in the national semifinal posting a 23-1 record. Alavanja tallied nine goals and 29 points. He scored eight goals and 25 points as a sophomore (1996) and scored seven goals and 17 points his freshman year (1995). Alavanja ranks 13th on the Hoosiers all-time points scored list with 35 goals and 103 points. Indiana teams posted a record during Alavanja s playing career. Lazo Alavanja earned All-America honors during each of his final three seasons with the Hoosiers and helped IU to the 1998 national championship. ARMANDO BETANCOURT STEVE BURK 10 FORWARD 1979, 1980, Totals Betancourt was named Soccer America s Player of the Decade for the 1980s and earned All-America honors during all three of his seasons at IU. He opened the decade by winning the Hermann Trophy Award in 1981 and earned first team All-America honors for the second time in his career that same season. He ranks third on the school s all-time points scored list with 64 goals and 165 points, despite playing just three seasons before turning professional. Betancourt s first All-America season came in 1979 when he tallied 20 goals and 52 points as the Hoosiers posted a mark and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals. The Hoosiers returned to the quarterfinals in 1981 and posted a 20-3 record. Betancourt once again earned first-team All-America honors as he scored 27 goals and a school-record tying 63 points that year. The 1980 season saw Betancourt score 17 goals and 50 points, as he is one of just two players in IU history with three 50-plus point seasons. That season saw Indiana advance to the NCAA Championship game and post a record. Betancourt was one of three Hoosiers named to Soccer America s All-Century team in 2000 and earned All-Region honors during all three of his seasons in which IU posted a record. Betancourt was elected to the IU Hall of Fame in Totals Burks still ranks second on Indiana s all-time points scored list with 77 goals and 182 points which he tallied from He held the honor of IU s greatest scorer for 14 seasons. He earned first team All-America honors in his final season (1976) as he scored 13 goals and 32 points leading the Hoosiers to their firstever trip to the NCAA Championship game and an mark. Burks led Indiana in scoring in three of his four seasons, as he is one of only two IU players to have three 20-plus goal seasons. His top scoring campaign came in 1975, when he scored 22 goals and 52 points. His first two seasons saw him score 42 goals and 98 points helping the Hoosiers make their mark on the national scene in their first two seasons at the varsity level. Burks owns the school mark for goals in a game, as he scored six goals against Indiana State in 1973, which resulted in a school-record 12 points. Burks also earned first-team All-Region honors during the 1976 season. Indiana was during Burk s playing career MEN S SOCCER 117

5 S MIKE CLARK CHAD DEERING , Totals Clark earned third team All-America honors in 1994, as he helped anchor a defense that allowed just 13 goals in 25 games. Clark also earned All-Region and All-Big Ten honors that same season. He was part of three Big Ten Championship teams and appeared in a pair of College Cups. His first trip to the College Cup came in 1991 as the Hoosiers posted a 21-3 mark. Clark and IU made a second trip in 1994 as the Hoosiers advanced all the way to the title game before closing out the season with a 23-3 record. Indiana posted a record during Clark s career. Clark s top two offensive seasons came in 1993 and 1994 as he scored four goals and ten points in each of these two years Totals Deering earned All-America honors in each of his two seasons at IU. Deering scored 21 goals, had 22 assists and tallied 64 points in just two seasons before entering the professional ranks. He helped the Hoosiers advance to the College Cup as a freshman (1989) when he scored nine goals and 28 points. In 1990 Deering tallied 12 goals and 12 assists for 36 points. The Hoosiers were during the two-time All-Region selection s playing career. SCOTT COUFAL ANGELO DIBERNARDO 1 GOALKEEPER , 1978 Year GAA Shutouts W-L-T Totals Coufal is the only goalkeeper in Indiana history to earn NSCAA All-America honors. He was named to the third team in Coufal concluded his career as the Hoosiers all-time winningest goalkeeper with 66 victories. His career record was Coufal s career goals against average of 0.55 ranks second on the Hoosiers all-time list. He registered 38 career shutouts and 274 saves and statistics ranking second on their respective all-time lists. Coufal was an All-Region selection in 1995 and 1996 and an All-Big Ten choice in both 1994 and He led the Hoosiers to three Big Ten Championships and a trip to the NCAA finals in 1994 as he posted a 22-3 mark and 14 shutouts that season Totals DiBernardo became Indiana s first two-time soccer All-American as he earned first team honors both in 1977 and 1978 and became the Hoosiers first Hermann Trophy award winner as he took home the award in his final season (1978). He was selected to Soccer America s All-Century team in DiBernardo played just three seasons for the Hoosiers before playing in the professional ranks. In just three years, he scored 54 goals and 125 points, which ranks seventh on the IU all-time points scored list. The 1977 season saw DiBernardo score 15 goals and 35 points as the Hoosiers posted a mark and earned a trip to the NCAA Regional Semifinals. DiBernardo led the team in scoring for the third consecutive season in 1978 when he tallied 19 goals and 45 points leading Indiana to the NCAA Championship game and a 23-2 mark. DiBernardo, a two time All-Region selection, tied the school mark for assists in a game when he registered four against Dayton in The Hoosiers posted a mark during DiBernardo s career. DiBernardo was elected to the IU Hall of Fame in MEN S SOCCER

6 S PAUL DIBERNARDO MIKE FREITAG Totals Paul became the second DiBernardo to earn All-America honors for the Hoosiers as he followed in his brother Angelo s footsteps earning second team accolades in He became the first Hoosier to be named Soccer America s Player of the Year that season as he led the team in scoring with 11 goals and 32 points. DiBernardo was a part of back-to-back national championship teams. The Hoosiers won the crown in 1982 with a mark with the final victory coming in an eight overtime national championship game against Duke. DiBernardo led the team in scoring with 14 goals and 35 points. The following year saw the Hoosiers repeat as national champions with a mark. DiBernardo, a two time All-Region selection, once again led the squad in scoring with 11 goals and 32 points. He ranks ninth on IU s all-time points scored list with 40 goals and 116 points. The Hoosiers posted an record during his playing career Totals Freitag capped his four-year career with the Hoosiers by earning All-America honors in The Hoosiers were the nation s top-ranked team throughout the regular season that year and finished with a record in what is still regarded as one of the greatest defensive seasons in NCAA history. Freitag helped anchor a defense that allowed just six goals and posted a school-record 18 shutouts and an NCAA record 0.26 goals against average. Freitag tallied a career-best six goals and 16 points his freshman season as Indiana posted an mark and took a trip to the NCAA Championship game. He saw his sophomore campaign cut short from a knee injury. In 1978, he helped the Hoosiers earn a trip back to the NCAA Finals and a 23-2 record. He scored four goals and eight points. Freitag earned All-Region honors in 1979 and Indiana posted a record during his playing career. CHARLIE FAJKUS NICK GARCIA , 1998, Totals Fajkus helped lead Indiana to the NCAA Championship game and a 23-2 mark in 1978 as he earned All-America honors for his 10-goal, 30-point season. He ranks 10th on the school s all-time scoring list with 38 goals and 114 points. His top offensive season came his freshman year (1975) as he scored 13 goals and 35 points helping Indiana to mark. Fajkus earned All-Region accolades in 1978 and Indiana owned a record during his career Totals Garcia was a three-time All-American at Indiana and is regarded as one of collegiate soccer s all-time greatest defensive players. He anchored IU s defense that allowed just 39 goals in 73 games during his three-year career. He closed out his career by winning back-to-back NCAA Championships in 1998 and 1999 and in the process earned College Cup Defensive MVP honors both seasons. He was a finalist for the Hermann Trophy as a junior. Garcia appeared in the College Cup in each of his three seasons. He was a three time All-Region and All-Big Ten selection and during his three seasons Indiana posted a 67-6 mark. Garcia concluded his career with four goals and 14 points MEN S SOCCER 119

7 S NED GRABAVOY DEMA KOVALENKO , FORWARD 1997, Totals Grabavoy earned All-America accolades in each of his final two seasons at Indiana. He led a youthful Hoosier squad to the National Championship in 2003 with 11 goals and 11 assists. He was named first team All-American during Grabavoy was also an All-Region selection for the Hoosiers in He was named a second team All-American in his first full season with the Hoosiers as a sophomore. As a freshman, an injury during preseason training hampered him until the middle of the year. In 2002 and 2003, Grabavoy was a consensus first team All-Big Ten selections after he lead the League in scoring both years. In 2002, he was one of three consensus first team selections and one of four in Against Michigan State in 2002, he tied the school record with four assists. In 2002, Grabavoy closed the year as the team s third-leading scorer with 20 points on six goals and eight assists. He also garnered first team All- Region honors and had a team-best eight match scoring streak Totals Kovalenko earned All-America honors in both 1997 and 1998 and netted 45 goals and 105 points in just three seasons before heading to the professional ranks. His 105 points ranks 12th on the school s all-time scoring list. Kovalenko earned All-Region and All-Big Ten honors in each of his three seasons and helped the Hoosiers to three Big Ten crowns. He capped off his career with an NCAA Championship in 1998 as IU posted a 23-2 mark. Kovalenko scored 15 goals and 40 points that season. He earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors in 1996 as he scored 10 goals and 22 points helping IU to a mark. In 1997, he became the first Hoosier in eight years to score 20 goals in a season as he tallied 20 goals and 43 points helping the Hoosiers to a 23-1 mark. The lone loss came in the national semifinal. Indiana was during Kovalenko s threeyear career. ALEKSEY KOROL 13 FORWARD Totals Korol capped his four-year career by earning All-America honors in 1999 and was named Soccer America s Player of the Year that season. The Hoosiers won back-to-back NCAA crowns in Korol s junior and senior seasons and he made three College Cup appearances with IU. His first appearance came in 1997 when IU s lone loss came in the NCAA semifinal as the Hoosiers posted a 23-1 mark. Korol netted 14 goals and 35 points. The following year he tallied 17 goals and 44 points as IU went 23-3 and defeated Stanford for the national title. During his senior campaign he netted 20 goals and became the first IU player in 10 years to tally 50 points. He earned Big Ten Player of the Year honors that season and was named to Soccer America s All-Decade team in the 90 s. Korol earned All-Big Ten honors in each of his four seasons and was an All-Region selection in He ranks fourth on IU s all-time points scored list with 57 goals and 149 points. The Hoosiers posted an mark and won four Big Ten Championships during Korol s four-year career. Aleksey Korol guided Indiana to back-to-back national championships in 1998 and 1999 on his way to national Player of the Year honors in his senior campaign MEN S SOCCER

8 S YURI LAVRINENKO RYAN MACK , Totals Lavrinenko earned All-America honors in 1999 and ranks second on IU s all-time career assist list with 41. The Hoosiers won back-to-back NCAA crowns in Lavrinenko s junior and senior seasons, and he made three College Cup appearances with IU. His first appearance was in 1997 when IU s lone loss came in the NCAA semifinals as the Hoosiers posted a 23-1 mark. Lavrinenko netted six goals and 26 points. The following year he tallied six goals and 17 points as IU went 23-3 and defeated Stanford for the national title. During his senior campaign he netted seven goals, including the lone goal in a 1-0 national championship victory over Santa Clara. He had 26 points on the season and was named the College Cup Offensive MVP. Lavrinenko earned All-Big Ten honors in each of his four seasons and was an All-Region selection in He concluded his career with 25 goals and 91 points. The Hoosiers posted an mark and won four Big Ten Championships during Lavrinenko s four-year career Totals Mack earned third team All-America honors in 2000, as he helped lead the Hoosiers to a College Cup appearance that season with seven goals and 26 points. He was also an honorable mention All-American as a senior in Mack was a member of the 1998 and 1999 National Championships teams as a freshman and sophomore. He missed the 2001 season with a torn ACL but came back for his senior season in In his four seasons, he amassed 25 goals and 84 points. In 1998, his freshman campaign, he netted seven goals and 18 points and in 1999 he scored five goals and 19 points. As a senior in 2002, he collected nine assists and six goals en route to 21 points. The Hoosiers finished with a record that season. He was a four time All-Big Ten selection and the Player of the Year in Mack started every game in which he played at Indiana and closed his career ranked ninth on the IU assists list with 34. BRIAN MAISONNEUVE , Totals Brian Maisonneuve garnered All-America distinction during his final two seasons with IU and racked up 110 career points in the cream and crimson. Maisonneuve was the 1994 Hermann Trophy Award winner, a two time Big Ten Player of the Year and twice selected as an All-American. Maisonneuve s Hermann Trophy season saw him tally 14 goals and 36 points leading Indiana to a 23-3 mark, a Big Ten crown and a trip to the NCAA Championship game. He earned his second conference player of the year award that same season. He won his first Big Ten honor in 1993, as he scored 13 goals and 35 points helping the Hoosiers to a record earning him second team All-America honors. The four time All-Big Ten and All-Region selection netted 12 goals and 27 points in 1992 as the Hoosiers won the Big Ten Championship and posted a record. Maisonneuve and the Hoosiers advanced to the College Cup his freshman season (1991) as IU won the Big Ten crown and posted a 21-3 mark. Maisonneuve had five goals and 12 points that season. 9 S ROBERT MESCHBACH DREW MOOR 13 FORWARD Totals Meschbach had one of the greatest scoring seasons in Indiana history during his All-American campaign in He scored 27 goals, the second-highest single-season mark in IU history and tallied a school-record tying 63 points. He was a finalist for the Hermann Trophy award as he led the Hoosiers to a mark and a trip to the NCAA Championship game. Meschbach ranks fifth on Indiana s all-time points scored list with 61 goals and 139 points. His freshman season saw him score 10 goals and 21 points as he came to Indiana as one of the nation s most highly-touted recruits. He followed up with a sophomore season in which he scored 11 goals and 26 points helping the Hoosiers to a 23-2 mark and a berth into the NCAA title game. His junior season saw him score 13 goals and 29 points as the Hoosier stood atop the national rankings for much of the regular season. Meschbach earned All-Region honors in 1980 and Indiana was during his playing career Totals Moor was one of three Hoosiers to earn All-America honors during the championship run of The Dallas, Texas native was a first team selection. He spent two seasons with the Hoosiers after transferring from Furman following his freshman campaign. During his two seasons at Indiana, the Hoosiers went and winning a pair of national championships. Moor was regarded as one of the top defenders in college soccer and was named as one of 15 semifinalists for the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy. The Hoosiers rank among the nation s best in goals against average and shutout percentage during both his seasons. Moor was a two-time unanimous first team All-Big Ten selection. JAY NOLLY 1 GOALKEEPER 2004 Year GAA Shutouts W-L-T Totals Jay Nolly won back-to-back College Cup Defensive MVP awards in 2003 and 2004, leading IU to back-to-back NCAA titles for the third time in school history. Nolly became only the second Hoosier goalkeeper to earn All-America honors in 2004, earning third team accolades. He will be most remembered for his performances in the 2003 and 2004 national title games. In 2003 against St. John s, Nolly had a Hoosier NCAA Tournament record 10 saves in a 2-1 victory. He followed that up in 2004 with a pair of saves in the penalty kick shootout, including the final stop to give the Hoosiers a 3-2 win over UCSB in the title game. Nolly was named the College Cup Defensive MVP in both 2003 and He was a three-time first team All-Big Ten goalkeeper selection. He ranked 17th in the nation in goals against average (GAA) in 2002, 10th in 2003 and sixth in Nolly led the Big Ten in GAA each of his final three seasons and also topped the conference in shutouts in 2003 and MEN S SOCCER

10 S PAT NOONAN GEORGE PERRY 11 FORWARD 2000, 2001, Totals Noonan became Indiana s most recent three time All-American in 2002, including winning a first team nomination in his final two seasons. He was the runnerup for Missouri Athletic Club Player of the Year Award in 2001 and was edged by just four points for the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy as a senior in During his four seasons at IU, he helped the Hoosiers to three College Cups with two Championship games, and an NCAA Championship in his freshman year in He led Indiana in scoring his final three seasons, with 11 goals and 28 points in 2000, 16 goals and 44 points in 2001 and 14 goals and 37 points in Noonan earned Big Ten Player of the Year honors twice in 2001 and 2002 and was a three time All-Conference pick. He started every game he played in for four seasons at Indiana and finished his career sixth in the history books with 127 points and seventh with 48 goals Totals Perry was an honorable mention All-American in 1977 after anchoring a defense that allowed just nine goals in 15 games. The Hoosiers posted a mark on the season, and Perry netted three goals and six points. In his three seasons Indiana allowed just 35 goals in 52 games, and the Hoosiers posted a mark. In 1976 Perry and IU earned a trip to the NCAA Championship game. Perry, an All-Region selection in 1977, concluded his career with four goals and nine points. DANNY O ROURKE Totals O Rourke was one of three Hoosiers to earn All-America honors following the 2004 championship run. Not only was he named a first team All-American, but the Columbus, Ohio, native took home college soccer s top prize, being named the 2004 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy winner. During his career, the Hoosiers were overall with four regular season Big Ten titles, two Big Ten tournament championships, three College Cup Appearances and two NCAA Championships back-to-back in 2003 and He was a team captain during both championship years and was regarded as one of the toughest players and best ball winners in college soccer. In his four years, the Hoosiers posted a goals against average of 0.60 with 46 shutouts. In 2004, O Rourke had his greatest offensive season with two goals and four assists. His final point of the season was a cross that resulted in the game-winner in the second overtime of the national semifinal against Maryland (3-2). He was a three-time first team All-Big Ten selection. Along with being named college soccer s top players, he was also named its top scholar in 2004, taking home the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Scholar Athlete of the Year award. Danny O Rourke won the national Player of the Year award and Scholar Athlete of the Year honor as a senior after leading Indiana to the 2004 NCAA title MEN S SOCCER 123

11 S JACOB PETERSON TOM REDMOND 23 FORWARD Totals Peterson earned third team NSCAA All-America honors during his junior season with the Hoosiers. During the 2005 campaign, Peterson led the Hoosiers and the Big Ten in goals (12) and points (26). The Portage, Mich., native also led the Hoosiers in goals and points as a sophomore as well with 11 goals and 24 points. He was a first team All-Big Ten choice during his final two seasons as a Hoosier after garnering second team accolades as a freshman. Indiana won back-toback national titles during Peterson s first two seasons, including a overall record. He went on to score goals in the 2003 and 2004 national title games, winning the College Cup Offensive MVP in In 2005, Peterson was named one of 15 semifinalists for the Missouri Athletic Club (M.A.C.) Hermann Trophy as the national collegiate player of the year. He finished his career ranked among the Hoosier top 25 in three career categories: 18th on the career goals list with 30, 16th with 186 career shots and 25th on the career points list with Totals Redmond was Indiana s first varsity soccer All-American as he earned secondteam honors in The junior college transfer anchored the IU defense, as the Hoosiers made their first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. He tallied seven goals and 16 points helping the Hoosiers to a 15-3 mark, which included nine shutouts. Redmond concluded his two-year career with 13 goals and 32 points and IU posted a record over that time span. BRIAN PLOTKIN JOE SCHMID Totals Totals Plotkin garnered first team All-America distinction as a senior. During his final campaign in the cream and crimson, he topped the team and Big Ten with 26 points (8 goals, 10 assists). Along with being a first team All-Big Ten choice during his final three seasons, Plotkin was the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2005 and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in During the 2005 campaign, he was one of three finalists for the Missouri Athletic Club (M.A.C.) Hermann Trophy as the national collegiate player of the year. Plotkin earned first team all-region honors in 2003 and 2005, while garnering second team accolades in He helped the Hoosiers to back-to-back national championships in 2003 and 2004, as IU amassed a overall mark during his four seasons. Plotkin capped his career ranked among the IU all-time top 25 in three categories; tied for ninth in assists with 34, eighth in career shots with 260 and 23rd in career points with 76. Schmid completed his career with the Hoosiers by earning second team All- America honors and winning a national championship in He helped anchor the Hoosier defense that allowed just 17 goals as IU posted a mark on the season. He netted a career-best six goals and 12 points. He began his career with Indiana in 1979 and was part of a defense that posted 18 shutouts and a 0.26 goals against average allowing just six goals in 24 games. Schmid earned All-Region honors in 1983 and concluded his career with 10 goals and 21 points. During his four seasons Indiana allowed just 54 goals in 100 games as the Hoosiers posted an mark MEN S SOCCER

12 S DAVID SHELTON JOHN SWANN Totals Shelton earned honorable mention All-America honors in 1977 as he helped the Hoosiers to a defensive stand that allowed just nine goals in 15 games. He also contributed to the offense with two goals and eight points as Indiana posted a mark. He concluded his career with eight goals and 26 points and Indiana posted a mark during his playing career. Shelton, an All-Region selection in 1977, earned a trip to the NCAA finals in Totals Swann collected first-team All-America honors as a senior in As a team captain that year, he anchored an Indiana defense that posted eight shutouts and a 0.77 goal-against average. He was also one of just three unanimous first team All-Big Ten selections. He completed his career as a three-time first team All-Conference honoree in addition to earning All-Region honors in his final campaign. Swann closed his career with 10 goals and 20 points. KEN SNOW 9 FORWARD 1987, 1988, 1989, Totals Snow was the first four-time All-American in Indiana soccer history. He won the sport s highest honor, taking home the Hermann Trophy twice (1988, 1990) and the Missouri Athletic Club Player of the Year award on two occasions (1988, 1990). He was named to both the Soccer America All-Century Team in 2000 and the publication s All-Decade team for the 1980s. The four-time All-Region selection still ranks as the school s all-time leading scorer with a record 84 goals and 196 points. He began his illustrious career in 1987 by scoring a school-record 28 goals and 61 points and leading the Hoosiers to an 18-3 mark. His first year numbers earned him Soccer America s Freshman of the Year award. In 1988, Snow led the Hoosiers to an NCAA Championship and a 21-3 mark. He tallied 22 goals and 51 points. He reached the 50-point plateau again in 1989 as he tallied 20 goals and 50 points. The Hoosiers and Snow returned to the College Cup that season posting an record. His final campaign saw him score 14 goals and 34 points as IU went on the season. The Hoosiers posted a record during Snow s career. Ken Snow is one of just two IU players to earn All-America honors during all four years of his career, and he swept the Hermann Trophy and Missouri Athletic National Player of the Year honors in 1988 and MEN S SOCCER 125

13 S JOHN STOLLMEYER , 1984, Totals Stollmeyer was a three-time All-American and a member of Soccer America s All-Decade team in the 1980s. His career at Indiana could not have begun any better as the Hoosiers won their first two NCAA crowns in his first two seasons at IU. As a freshman he was selected second team All-American. He tallied three goals and 14 points to help lead the Hoosiers to a mark and an eight overtime victory against Duke for the national crown. The following season Stollmeyer netted nine goals and 27 points as Indiana went and beat Columbia for back-to-back titles. He would return to the College Cup in 1984 and earn third-team All-America honors as he registered 13 assists and 25 points helping the Hoosiers to a mark and a trip to the NCAA semifinals. Stollmeyer s senior season saw him become the second Hoosier to earn All- America honors three times as he was awarded third team accolades with nine goals and 27 points. He concluded his career with 27 goals and 93 points and Indiana posted a record during his four-year career. Stollmeyer was elected to the IU Hall of Fame in John Stollmeyer helped IU to the program s first back-to-back national title run in 1982 and 1983 along with being named to Soccer America s Team of the Decade in the 1980s. TODD YEAGLEY JED ZAYNER , 1992, 1993, Totals Yeagley became the second four-time Hoosier All-American. Playing for his father, he concluded his career ranking third on the school s all-time assist list with 40 and amassed 29 goals and 98 points. His finest season came in 1994 when he earned the Missouri Athletic Club Player of the Year award. He tallied 10 goals and 31 points in his senior season and led the Hoosiers to a 23-3 mark, a Big Ten crown and a trip to the NCAA Championship game. It was one of two College Cup appearances for Yeagley. His first trip came his freshman year (1991) when helped lead the Hoosiers to a 21-3 mark and the inaugural Big Ten Championship. He tallied 12 goals and 35 points to win Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors and second team All-America accolades. The four-time All-Big Ten and All-Region honoree led the Hoosiers to a record in 1993 as he scored 10 goals and 24 points receiving second-team All-Big Ten accolades. He tied the school mark for assists in a game with four against Northwestern in The Hoosiers were during Yeagley s four-year career Totals Zayner earned third team All-America accolades during his final campaign. Over his three-year career with IU, Zayner organized a Hoosier defense that has a goals against average of 0.63 with 35 shutouts. IU has won back-to-back national titles in his first two seasons, while the Hoosiers finished with an overall record of Zayner started a total of 65 matches during his career. As a junior in 2005, Zayner was named one of 15 semifinalists for the Missouri Athletic Club (M.A.C.) Hermann Trophy as the National Collegiate Player of the Year. The Orland Park, Ill., native garnered All-Big Ten honors as a sophomore and a junior along with winning the Big Ten Freshman of the Year award in his rookie campaign. 18 IU HALL OF FAME Three former Indiana men s soccer players are members of the prestigious Indiana University Athletic Hall of Fame. ANGELO DIBERNARDO 1991 IU HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE DiBernardo became Indiana s first two-time soccer All-American as he earned first team honors both in 1977 and 1978 and became the Hoosiers first Hermann Trophy award winner as he took home the award in his final season (1978). He was selected to Soccer America s All- Century team in DiBernardo played just three seasons for the Hoosiers before playing in the professional ranks. In just three years, he scored 54 goals and 125 points, which ranks sixth on the IU all-time points scored list. The 1977 season saw DiBernardo score 15 goals and 35 points as the Hoosiers posted a mark and earned a trip to the NCAA Regional Semifinals. DiBernardo led the team in scoring for the third consecutive season in 1978 when he tallied 19 goals and 45 points leading Indiana to the NCAA Championship game and a 23-2 mark. DiBernardo, a two-time All-Region selection, tied the school-mark for assists in a game when he registered four against Dayton in The Hoosiers posted a mark during DiBernardo s career. DiBernardo was elected to the IU Hall of Fame in1991. ARMANDO BETANCOURT 1992 IU HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE Betancourt was named Soccer America s Player of the Decade for the 1980 s and earned All- America honors during all three of his seasons at IU. He opened the decade by winning the Hermann Trophy Award in 1981 and earned first team All-America honors for the second time in his career that same season. He ranks third on the school s all-time points scored list with 64 goals and 165 points, despite playing just three seasons before turning professional. Betancourt s first All-America season came in 1979 when he tallied 20 goals and 52 points as the Hoosiers posted a mark and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals. The Hoosiers returned to the quarterfinals in 1981 and posted a 20-3 record. Betancourt once again earned first team All-America honors as he scored 27 goals and a school-record tying 63 points that year. Betancourt became one of just two players in IU history with three 50-plus point seasonsscore, as he recorded 50 points in Indiana advanced to the NCAA Championship game and post a record in Betancourt was one of three Hoosiers named to Soccer America s All-Century team in 2000 and earned All-Region honors during all three of his seasons in which IU posted a record.
