Big Ten All-Freshman Team... got his first starting nod against UAB on Sept. 21, scoring his first goal... his second goal of the season came at Notre Dame on Oct. 17 as he scored in the 18th minute tied the game at 1-all... against Evansville on Oct. 24, it was Balchan who put home the game winner in the 68th minute... he also assisted on Brad Ring s goal which tied the game at 1-all... his second game winner came on Oct. 31 as his goal in the 13th minute gave the Hoosiers a 1-0 lead at Kentucky... also recorded an assist in the match... tallied his third assist on the season against Bradley in the NCAA Tournament one of four freshmen to score a goal in 2007, joining Michael Roach, Daniel Kelly and Neil Wilmarth competed with U-20 National Team at New Orleans tournament in Feb.... also selected to the U-20 squad trip to England in May, playing against reserve squads from Manchester United and Bolton... spent the summer playing with the Ft. Wayne Fever of the PDL. 26 JOE LUEKEN Assistant Athletics Trainer Joe Lueken begins his 12th season as the head trainer for the Indiana program and his 16th overall at IU. Former head coach Jerry Yeagley repeatedly praised Lueken for his work in keeping the IU regulars on the field and not on the injured list. Lueken has served as an athletic trainer at Indiana for the past 15 years and also has worked with the golf, track and field, football and baseball teams. In addition, he is an instructor and teaches within the curriculum of the athletic training programs. Lueken previously served as an athletic trainer for the U.S. Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs. He was responsible for team preparation, practice and competitive coverage for various teams, international travel and administrative responsibilities for the Sports Medicine clinic. Lueken earned a bachelor s degree in exercise and sports sciences from Indiana in 1987 and a master s from Arizona in He and his wife, Pam, are the parents of two daughters, Mckenzie and Abbie. The family resides in Bloomington. CATHY NAREY Administrative Assistant Entering her 17th season as Administrative Assistant for the IU Soccer Program is Cathy Narey. She is an integral part of the program as she handles all the day-to-day office operations. Narey and her husband, Ed have three children - Christa 31, Shana 30, and Dustin 20. TEAM MANAGERS Wade Berger Kyle Rawson CHRIS REYNOLDS Senior Associate Athletics Director Former IU basketball standout Chris Reynolds is in his sixth year at his alma mater and his fifth as senior associate athletics director. Reynolds returned to Bloomington after three years as an assistant athletic director for rules enforcement at Notre Dame. In addition to supervising several Olympic sports, including, Reynolds manages equipment room operations and multiple Department of Athletics contractual issues. During his tenure at Notre Dame, Reynolds handled coordination and education of NCAA and Big East Conference compliance rules to athletic department staff, coaches, student-athletes and the university community. Prior to working at Notre Dame, Reynolds was an assistant athletic director at Western Michigan. He was also a part-time faculty member at Western Michigan. Reynolds began his athletic administration in the Michigan State compliance office and has also conducted youth personal, professional and leadership skills development workshops for Nike, Inc., the NCAA and at Western Michigan.
