DEAR NAVY FOOTBALL PATRON: ANOTHER NAVY FOOTBALL SEASON IS UPON US! We hope you are excited for this season as much as we at the NAAA are. We are all looking forward to the home opener on September 22nd vs. VMI! We will continue throughout the year to work at making your game day experience an enjoyable and unforgettable one and encourage you to read through this packet so you will be aware of the policies and guidelines that will be enforced as well as the improvements made to our Perimeter Tailgating Program. There is so much to enjoy and take in during a Navy Football event with family, friends and classmates. With your safety and convenience as our top priority your understanding of these policies will ensure that all members of your group will have a memorable experience. Your continued support of our program is greatly appreciated by our athletes, coaches and working staff. It s loyal fans like you that have enabled us to make Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium one of the finest college football environments in the country. The anticipation and optimism for this season is high and we know having you with us makes all the difference in the world. We look forward to seeing you during the 2012 season! NAVAL ACADEMY ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION Perimeter Information For answers to questions about perimeter tailgate guidelines please call Chris Grosse at (410) or grosse@usna.edu. On Game day, Chris can be reached on his cell at (443) For general questions regarding Navy Football please call the Navy Ticket Office at 800-US4-NAVY
Directed Parking When the parking lots open on game days all vehicles will be directed to parking spots. However, being a perimeter tailgater, you have special parking rights if you have purchased a season parking pass. The two types of special parking passes (orange or red) will allow you to access your tailgate spot without being directed to park with the general parkers. A red parking pass means you will park INSIDE your actual tailgate boundaries. An orange parking pass means that you will park in a marked spot adjacent to the tailgate boundaries. Please enter the stadium through the gate marked on your parking pass. To discuss any unique circumstances please call Chris Grosse at (410) Red vs. Orange Parking Blue Side Tailgaters On the blue side of the stadium, vehicles with RED passes must park inside the actual tailgate space. For ORANGE vehicles, spots will either be attached to the edge of your tailgate space (Example 1) or across the fire lane (Example 2). All ORANGE parking spots will be marked in spray paint with your space number. Spots 1-8A Gold Side Tailgaters RED pass vehicles must park in the parking spaces that make up your tailgate area. ORANGE vehicles must park across the fire line in spaces with your tailgate number spray-painted on them.
Parking Lot Opening/Closure Times The parking lots for Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium will open at 9:30am. If your tailgate requires extensive setup and you wish to have access to your perimeter spot prior to the regular opening time then you may request an exemption through the NAAA Marketing Office (no earlier than 6:30am, and it must be arranged in advanced). This type of request should come in written form (i.e. ) and be received a minimum of three business days before a game. The parking lots will close three hours after the playing of the Navy Blue and Gold. Catering Guidelines Groups may bring their own food to a perimeter tailgate (i.e. potluck). However, should you wish to have a tailgate professionally catered; only NAAA preferred caterers will have access to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium parking lots on game days. A complete list of approved caterers is attached. Tenting Guidelines Tents are permitted within the confines of perimeter spots. However, stakes are not permitted in the asphalt. Should you wish to rent a tent we need you to use Select Event Rentals (formally know as Party Perfect Rentals). They are the preferred vendor of the NAAA and are aware of the various sprinkler lines that run throughout the Blue Side parking lot. If you erect your own tent we recommend it be setup on Friday afternoon prior to Saturday s game and you will be liable for any damages incurred to waterlines or trails. Tents may be left up for consecutive game weeks at your own risk. The NAAA is not liable for any damage that occurs to tents that are left up. On non-consecutive game weeks all tents should be removed from perimeter spots by 5:00pm on Sunday. Additional tailgate items, i.e. tables, chairs and tablecloths are also available by ordering through Select Event Rentals. A complete list of their inventory (along with pricing) offered for Navy Football games is attached. Games and Activities Inflatable games are not permitted in areas surrounding Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium due to insurance liabilities. However, we are glad to refer you to Fantasy World Entertainment who can provide a variety of carnival activities. The NAAA must specifically maintain additional insurance in order to provide inflatable games in NavyFest. We encourage you to visit NavyFest to enjoy the activities offered. Fantasy World Entertainment is a preferred vendor of the NAAA and can be reached at (800) Open Fire Policy Federal, State and City laws strictly prohibit any open bonfires or campfires without a special permit. The Naval Academy Athletic Association will not authorize any special
permits to be issued for home athletic events at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for any open fires for safety reasons. On the grounds of Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium all cooking materials should be limited to charcoal briquettes and placed in covered grills only. Any person starting an open fire of any kind will face a federal, state or city fine and/or prosecution. Trash / Recycle / Coal Disposal In an effort to maintain grounds around Navy-Marine Corps Memorials Stadium we urge tailgaters to dispose of trash in the dumpsters throughout the parking areas. Additionally, containers marked for recyclable items are also located throughout the parking lots. To assist in the process all bagged trash left in perimeter spots will be collected following the game. Hot coals from tailgates should not be left on the ground or disposed of in the parking lot dumpsters. Hot coals should be disposed of in the cans specifically marked, Hot Coals. Non-Use of a Perimeter Spot The NAAA is striving to accommodate Navy fans throughout the season and due to the overwhelming demand for season long perimeter tailgate spots, a waiting list for USNA classes has been developed. To that end, we aim to ensure each perimeter spot is used at every game. Should your assigned perimeter spot go unused (without previous notification to the NAAA) for two games during the 2012 season you may potentially lose the privilege of utilizing the area for the remainder of the season or future seasons. All reserved parking ends one and a half hours before kickoff to facilitate parking lot entry and traffic flow. Spot Identification and Supervision Each perimeter spot will contain a sandwich board labeled with the group s name. Please do not tamper or remove sandwich boards from their spots. A NAAA representative will collect all sandwich boards at the conclusion of the game. Additionally the NAAA will provide monitors to roam the perimeter area throughout the day leading up to kick-off. In an effort to provide exceptional customer service at our games we advise you to contact the nearest parking attendant should you need assistance. The parking attendant will find a NAAA employee that will assist you. Spot Fee There will be a nominal fee to groups who use the perimeter tailgate spots. The maintenance fee for this year will be $300 for the full season or $75 on a single game basis. This charge is to cover the significant costs of clean-up on Sunday mornings after the games as well as other expenses incurred to run the Perimeter Tailgate Program. We appreciate everyone pitching in to help defray the direct costs of trash removal. Portable Restrooms
Portable restrooms are located throughout the parking area as well as in NavyFest. Please review the attached map that details the location of each portable restroom (subject to change). If your group number exceeds one hundred people then we strongly recommend you rent a portable restroom for your tailgate. You can do so by calling the Chris Grosse at (410) at least five business days prior to the game. Alcoholic Beverages Alcoholic beverages are allowed in perimeter tailgates. Please drink responsibly! The consumption of alcohol by underage drinkers is strictly prohibited. Spot Maintenance The NAAA does not maintain spots during the season. Should you wish to purchase water absorbents for your spot (i.e. sand or hay) please notify the NAAA of your intentions prior to the game. Do not attempt to modify your spot (i.e. by digging holes or paths for water) to alleviate water problems. Once again you will be liable for any damages caused to waterlines, the trail or parking lot. Corporate Sponsorship of Spaces There are to be no corporate or charitable tie-ins with perimeter tailgate groups without the expressed written approval by the NAAA. Music Live music is permitted in your perimeter spot. All live music should end three hours after the conclusion of the game. In addition, when playing music over the radio or listening to live music please be considerate of residents in the surrounding community and patrons in neighboring perimeter spots. We Would Like Your Help As a valued customer of Navy Athletics we aim to provide a unique and enjoyable game day experience. In an effort to ensure those goals are met we would like to have your assistance. You can help us by taking note and reporting the following activities not allowed in Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium parking lots: Picketing or political campaigning Distributing handbills or pamphlets Solicitations, unless authorized by NAAA prior to game day
