McGraw ranks ninth all-time in career victories among Division I coaches, and is currently on pace to become the second fastest coach to 900 career wins. McGraw is also just one of six coaches (men s or women s basketball) in NCAA Division I history with 800 wins, seven Final Fours and five NCAA title games. The prestigious list includes Pat Summitt, Geno Auriemma, Duke men s coach Mike Krzyzewski, the late North Carolina men s coach Dean Smith and current North Carolina men s coach Roy Williams. This past fall, McGraw took her rightful place among the game s elite when she was enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, becoming the 32nd woman ever to do so. This season is proving to be one of Coach McGraw s best in her illustrious career, deserving Coach of the Year consideration. The combination of losing four players to torn ACL s, including three-time All-American Brianna Turner, to the point where seven scholarship players remain, in addition to the fact the team has no healthy true point guard remaining or a scholarship guard to come off the bench, and the Irish are still ranked No. 5 in the country with a 27-2 record and are ACC regular season champs. CASE FOR COACH OF THE YEAR Notre Dame has continued to obtain the program standard of success despite the injuries and setbacks faced this season. The Irish possess the No. 1 strength of schedule and No. 1 ranked RPI, while the ACC ranks first in conference RPI. The Irish are ranked No. 5 in the country and No. 4 in the Coaches Poll, boast a 27-2 record, are ACC regular season champs and are a projected No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. After defeating No. 8 FSU, Notre Dame earned its third top-10 win on the year, tying Louisville for the second most in the country, with UConn leading the way with six. After Notre Dame s win at No. 19 Duke on Feb. 4, the Irish collected their sixth ranked win away from home, which leads the nation. Then, after the Irish knocked off No. 21 NC State in the regular season finale, picking up their eighth ranked win on the year, which trails just UConn s nine. However, the Irish can one-up the Blue Devils and make ACC history if they were to win this year, becoming the first to earn five straight sweeps of the ACC regular season and conference tournament titles. LOOK BACK AT 2017 ACC TOURNAMENT Notre Dame s path to the 2017 ACC Tournament title started with a win over Virginia in the quarterfinals, followed by an win over Louisville. The Irish then claimed the tournament title with an win over Duke. The Irish averaged 81.3 points on 49.2 percent shooting in the tournament. Both Arike Ogunbowale (17.7 ppg) and Marina Mabrey (17.3) averaged over 17 points in the three games and were named to the All-ACC Tournament Team. CONFERENCE TOURNEY SUCCESS With four ACC Tournament victories in their first four years in the league, the Irish are thus 12-0 in ACC Tournament games. Duke holds the record for most consecutive victories with 17 straight from When dating back to the final year in the Big East, the Irish conference tournament winning streak gets extended to Overall, Notre Dame is in conference tournament play, which includes their time in the MCC (now Horizon League), Big East and the ACC. The Irish won their 10th overall conference tournament championship in 2017 and fifth in a row when counting the 2013 Big East Tournament. Nationally, only Notre Dame and Albany (America East) have won their conference tournament each of the past five years also marked the eighth consecutive year the Irish have played for a conference tournament championship ACC REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS Since Notre Dame and Louisville tied atop the ACC standings at 15-1, both the Irish and Cardinals were named 2018 ACC regular season champions. For Notre Dame, it marked their fifth straight ACC regular season title and seventh straight when dating back to the final two years of the Big East. Seven straight regular season titles would be the third highest active streak in the country, only behind Baylor (8) and Green Bay (20). Five straight ACC regular season titles would be one shy of the all-time mark set by Virginia from NAISMITH WOMEN S COLLEGE COACH OF THE YEAR SEMIFINALIST Word is starting to spread on Coach McGraw s stellar season at the helm of the Irish. On Feb. 21, the Atlanta Tipoff Club named Coach McGraw a 2018 Werner Ladder Naismith Women s College Coach of the Year semifinalist, joining nine other individuals on the list. Ogunbowale leads the ACC in scoring with 20.3 points per game, which also ranks 25th in the nation. If the season ended today, it would rank as the second best in program history, with Katryna Gaither holding the top spot at Ogunbowale has been the very definition of consistency, proven by the fact she leads the ACC in 20-plus point performances this year with 19, which is three more than the next ACC player. She has only experienced one game all season with single-digit points. Next, let s look at the fact that the Irish have faced 10 ranked teams this season, and in those ranked games, Ogunbowale still averaged 19.4 points and 5.1 rebounds on 42.1 percent shooting. Then, there s the fact that Ogunbowale takes over games in the fourth quarter. She averages a team best 5.7 points in the final period on 53.2 percent shooting. She has reached double-digit points in the final period five times this season, including a season best 13 points in the fourth vs Tennessee and at Penn. March 14. The Coach of the Year will then be named on March 31. THREE IRISH NAMED ALL-ACC For the first time in their respective careers, juniors Arike Ogunbowale, Jessica Shepard and Marina Mabrey were all named All-ACC honorees. Ogunbowale was unanimously announced to the First Team on both the Blue Ribbon Panel and the Coaches Panel. Shepard was placed on the Blue Ribbon s First Team but Coaches Second Team, while Mabrey was the exact opposite on the two panels. All-in-all, it marked the third time in five years in the league that Notre Dame boasted three all-conference honorees. In addition, Notre Dame s three honorees were the most of any ACC school. GIVE IT UP FOR THE SENIORS On Senior Day, Notre Dame honored Lili Thompson, Mychal Johnson, Kristina Nelson and Kat Westbeld. The group is responsible for 129 total wins, a 61-3 ACC record and an impressive 64-2 mark at home inside Purcell Pavilion. The seniors have reached one Final Four and have swept the ACC regular season and tournament titles all three years. Finally, when comparing her overall stats to the 2018 ACC Player of the Year Asia Durr -- betting scoring average, better rebounding average, more assists, more steals, and more 20-point games -- And all the better stats were achieved against the No. 1 SOS. ARIKE ACCOLADES The last week of February has been good to Arike Ogunbowale. More impressive than her First Team All-ACC nod was the fact that Ogunbowale was named an Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Finalist, recognizing the top-five shooting guards in the country. Also in the running are Katie Lou Samuelson (UConn), Asia Durr (Louisville), Victoria Vivans (Mississippi St.) and Kitija Laksa (South Florida). Earlier, Ogunbowale was also named as 1-of-10 semifinalists for the Citizen Naismith Trophy Women s College Player of the Year. Four national finalists will be announced on March 16. BIG- JACKIE The title says it all about sophomore guard Jackie Young. The Irish have played 10 ranked opponents this season and in those games Young has outperformed her season averages in scoring and rebounding: Young is averaging 18.2 points and 6.9 rebounds against top-25 teams, while averaging 14.4 points and 6.6 rebounds for the season overall.

Young, comes in with 22 games in double figures, including eight with 20-plus and four double-doubles. Shepard boasts four 20-plus point performance on the year and 23 in double digits, while Mabrey has earned seven of 20-plus and 22 in double figures. MOST IMPROVED IRISH Undoubtedly, the most improved Irish award has to go to Jackie Young. The sophomore has nearly doubled her scoring average from last year (7.3 ppg) with her 14.4 ppg, which ranks third on the team and 15th in the ACC. She has also doubled her double-digit scoring performances going from 11 as a freshman to 22 this season. This season, Young has had a knack for the No. 23. It started in the Gulf Coast Showcase, when the Indiana native set a new personal best 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting vs USF on Nov. 25. Next, Young rattled off eight points in the fourth quarter vs Syracuse on Dec. 28, to finish with a career-high tying 23 points, in which she also set a new career high of 10 made field goals and tied her season best of two made three s. Young later hit the 23-point mark yet again at No. 3 Louisville on Jan. 11. Then, for the fourth time this season Young secured 23 points, this time vs Clemson on Jan. 21. DEALING AND STEALING In ACC play only - Notre Dame finished first in assists (19.8) and second in steals (10.1) - aka the Irish took care of the ball on the offensive end and were disruptive in the zone on the defensive end. Since taking over primary point guard duties (due to Thompson injury) on Jan. 4 vs Miami, Mabrey has risen her assist per game average from 3.4 to 4.2, which ranks 9th in the ACC. Mabrey averaged 4.8 assists in ACC play, which ranked fourth, and has dished out a season best eight assists three times. On the defensive front, Mabrey has totaled her season high of five steals five times since Louisville on Jan. 11. The junior has risen her steal average from 1.2 to 2.1, which ranks 7th in the ACC. Her 2.6 steals per game in ACC play ranked second. Meanwhile, Young has certainly ramped up the assist production as well, dishing out a career high of eight at FSU on Jan. 28, then repeating the feat at Virginia on Feb. 15. Young averaged 4.7 assists per game in ACC play which ranked fifth, and her 3.7 assists overall currently ranks 13th. POINT MILESTONES CONTINUE Notre Dame s 1,000-career point club welcomed its 39th member in Kat Westbeld vs Virginia Tech on Feb. 22, as the senior tallied eight points to finish right at the 1,000-point mark. Westbeld was the third Irish to reach the milestone this season, joining Ogunbowale and Mabrey. The last time three Irish players had done so - Trena Keys, Mary Beth Schueth and Carrie Bates in Speaking of milestones, both Ogunbowale and Shepard surpassed the 1,500 career point mark at Virginia on Feb. 15. Ogunbowale is currently on pace to challenge Skylar Diggins all-time scoring record. DISCIPLINED DEFENSE The Irish defense has been just as disciplined as disruptive as of late, ranking sixth in the nation in fewest fouls per game with As a result, opponents have not been able to get to the free-throw line. Since the Louisville loss, the Irish have only allowed four teams to reach double-digits in free-throws made. In fact, five teams have made just five free-throws or fewer. In that 12-game span, Notre Dame opponents are averaging just 7.6 made free-throws per game and 11.3 attempts per game.

The Irish currently rank third in the nation in shooting percentage, converting 50.2 percent of their shots. If the season ended today, that number would tie for the third best in program history. Points wise, the Irish are averaging an impressive 85.0 points per game, which ranks fourth in the country. That number would stand as the second best in school history, checking in behind the squad s 86.1 ppg. Notre Dame s shooting prowess has been nothing short but stellar as of late. The Irish have shot at least 50 percent in eight of the last 10 games. SHEPARD S ACTIVE CAREER NUMBERS In midst of a stellar first year at Notre Dame, junior Jessica Shepard continues solidify herself among the best in the country. Shepard s 17.3 points per game career scoring average ranks 19th among all active Division I players. In addition, her 8.7 career rebounding average ranks 15th while her 34 career double-doubles ranks 23rd. MABREY FREE-THROW STREAK Mabrey, who made 21 free-throws in a row in a stretch from Nov. 24, to Dec. 20, has outdone that mark with her current streak of 27 consecutive made free-throws. Mabrey s free-throw percentage of.900 leads all Irish and is on pace to tie the best mark in program history for a single season - Kayla McBride s.900. STATEMENT When facing another top-10 team on the road, the Irish made an impactful statement in their win over No. 8 FSU. First and foremost, it marked the largest offensive showing against a top-10 team in program history. It also was the sixth most points ever scored in a true road game and the most points scored in an ACC game since the Irish tallied 104 vs Boston College on Jan. 11, A DEFENSIVE FRONT The Irish continue to up the defensive ante. In fact, Notre Dame s defense has forced a total of 233 turnovers that resulted in a combined 292 points over the last 12 games. That s good for an average of 19.4 forced turnovers and 24.3 points off said turnovers. A COMEBACK FOR THE AGES Trailing 23 points at at the 7:03 mark in the second quarter vs No. 6 Tennessee, the Irish lived up to its fighting moniker. Notre Dame not only came back to earn the biggest come-from-behind victory in program history, but also did it by recording a 37-point swing in the process, winning The Irish ultimately outscored Tennessee in the fourth in what was their most complete quarter of the season. The Irish shot 60 percent in the final period, including going 3-for-3 from

8 8 three and 7-for-7 from the stripe, all resulting in two separate runs of 12-0 and The defense also set the tone in the second half, where they recorded 15 of their eventual season high 28 forced turnovers, seven of which came in the fourth quarter. The 23-point comeback marks the largest deficit overcome in Notre Dame history, surpassing the original mark of 18 set vs Duke on Nov. 26, The comeback tied for the fifth best all-time in Division I women s basketball and tied for the second largest rally over the last five years. COMEBACK SPIRIT Tennessee was not the first time the Irish have staged a dramatic comeback this season. In fact, Notre Dame has rallied down double-digits to win on four separate occasions this season. The Irish trailed at 8:01 in the third quarter at Oregon State, before fighting back to win In the Gulf Coast Showcase championship game vs South Carolina, the Irish went down at 8:53 in the second, before going on to outscore the Gamecocks in the middle two periods, ultimately winning Finally, Notre Dame fought out of a 14-3 hole in the first quarter vs Miami, before prevailing with the victory. HOME COURT ADVANTAGE Purcell Pavilion has become one of the toughest venues for opposing teams to play in. Notre Dame is alltime inside Purcell Pavilion, good for an.835 winning percentage. In addition, the Irish currently boast a 23-game win streak at home. The Irish have sold out Purcell Pavilion 51 times and boasts a 42-9 record in those instances, including winners of 33 of their last 37. Most notably, however, has been how dominant the Irish have been in league play at home. Notre Dame has won a school-record 50 consecutive home conference games, beginning with a win over Providence on Feb. 14, 2012, in BIG EAST play. FIGHTING THROUGH ADVERSITY After Lili Thompson s injury during the Dec. 31 Wake Forest matchup, the Fighting Irish are left with seven scholarship players and three walk-ons. This has been unprecedented. You feel like there s something out there that doesn t want us to be successful. You have to be able to handle the bumps in the road. - Coach McGraw However this isn t the first time Notre Dame has found itself in this situation. The program had just seven healthy players during portions of the 1997 Big East and NCAA tourneys. Then there s Notre Dame s infamous 2001 national title season. In their championship win over Purdue, the Irish played just seven individuals, and one of them for just five minutes. CHASING LEAGUE HISTORY In 2017, the Irish tied Duke s record when they swept both the ACC regular season championship and ACC Tournament title for the fourth consecutive year. If Notre Dame were to sweep for the fifth straight year, it would set a new ACC record. The Irish are now an impressive 77-3 against league schools since joining for the season (lone losses being Louisville on Jan. 11, NC State last season, Miami in ). Notre Dame became the second school in league history to have only one conference loss in a three-year span (Duke through 03-04). Furthermore, Notre Dame is 40-0 at Purcell Pavilion in ACC play, going 8-0 in , , , and now In fact, the Irish have never lost at home to an (active at game time) ACC team in Muffet McGraw s 30 years at the helm. The last time Notre Dame lost at Purcell Pavilion to a team representing the ACC was a setback against No. 20 Maryland on Jan. 10, When looking at conference play in general, Notre Dame is an impressive over the last now seven years (counting this season) and has won six straight regular season conference titles (2 Big East, 4 ACC). OGUNBOWALE - THE CLOSER Ogunbowale has undoubtedly acted as the closer for the Irish, totaling 166 points in the final period this season, good for an average of 5.7 points on 53.2 percent shooting. Furthermore, five times this season, the junior has reached double-digit points in the final period/ overtime: Most notably and recently, Ogunbowale surged with 13 points in the fourth on 4-of-6 shooting, including 4-for-4 from the stripe, vs Tennessee on Jan. 18. Other instances include: 12 points in the win over Miami, 10 points in the overtime period vs Marquette to push the Irish ahead to a victory, 13 points at Penn to seal the victory and 10 points vs No. 3/2 South Carolina. SHEPARDING IN A DOUBLE-DOUBLE With 24 points and 12 rebounds vs Syracuse on Dec. 28, Shepard became the first Irish player since Natalie Achonwa in the 2013 NCAA Tournament to record three consecutive double-doubles. Fast forward and Shepard is now up to nine double-doubles on the year, which is tied for seventh most in the ACC. All-in-all, Shepard totaled 25 double-doubles over two seasons at Nebraska to put into perspective. Furthermore, Shepard has led the Irish in rebounding 16 times as her 7.8 rebounds per game ranks 7th in the ACC. Shepard s 5.0 defensive rebounds ranks 9th in the league while her 2.8 offensive rebounds ranks 8th. OVERTIME IN PURCELL In the 17th overtime game in Purcell Pavilion history, the Fighting Irish emerged with the victory over Marquette, improving their record to 11-6 in home overtime games all-time. Down with 44 seconds left in regulation, Westbeld drew a foul and converted the first free throw before her second free throw went long, when she then grabbed the offensive board and made the put-back, evening the score at and sending the game to overtime. Westbeld then added four more points in the overtime period along with 10 points from Ogunbowale, who finished with a team high 22 points. Three Irish players finished with double-doubles for the first time since Dec. 10, 2014, at DePaul, when Jewell Loyd (41 points/12 rebounds), Madison Cable (20 points/11 rebounds) and Taya Reimer (15 points/11 rebounds) all achieved the feat. This time around it was Westbeld (13 points/10 rebounds), Shepard (13 points/12 rebounds) and Young (10 points/10 rebounds). NEW PURCELL PAVILION SCORING CHAMP Forward Jessica Shepard produced a historic outing vs. DePaul on Dec. 17, securing her fourth double-double on the year with 11 rebounds and a career high 39 points, lifting the Irish to a victory over the visiting Blue Demons. The junior s stellar performance broke the Purcell Pavilion women s scoring record, originally set by Ruth Riley, who garnered 36 points on two separate occasions back in 1999 and Overall, Shepard s 39 points stood as the fourth most in program history, trailing only Jewell Loyd s 41 points at DePaul on 12/10/14, Ruth Riley s 41 at Providence on 1/30/99 and Katryna Gaither s 40 vs Ohio on 11/29/97. Shepard, who entered the DePaul game with a season

Shepard had 26 points at the half on an already career high tying 13 made field goals. The Nebraska native ultimately finished an efficient 17-of-22 from the field as her 17 made field goals tied for second most in program history. Shepard s 39 points currently stands as the second best individual scoring performance during regulation (40 min) among all ACC players. Lastly, due to her impressive effort, Shepard received her first ACC Player of the Week honor. NON-CONFERENCE, NON-PROBLEM Over the last five years (counting this season), the Irish are an impressive 62-5 in non-conference regular season games. The win over Tennessee on Jan 18 capped a 12-1 non-conference season, securing the fifth straight year in which the Irish produced at least 12 non-conference wins : : : : : 13-0 Finally, looking even further back, the Irish have notched a record in non-conference regular season games over the past decade. RUNNING IRISH Basketball can sometimes be described as a game of runs, and the Irish have outshone its opponent in that very category. When looking at runs of 10-0 or more, Notre Dame has achieved that feat 33 times and have limited its opponents to just six - 11 straight from UConn, Marquette, Louisville (twice) and Tennessee. Notre Dame s biggest run of the season came on Dec. 6, when the Irish scored 16 straight points vs Michigan State. PAINTING A WINNING PICTURE Notre Dame has painted a nice picture down low over the course of the season. In fact, the Irish are averaging 47.6 points in the paint - compared to its opponent average of The Irish have reached 50 points in the paint 11 times this season and have also surpassed the 60-point total three times, including a dominant 66-point paint total against No. 8 FSU. REMEMBER, REMEMBER, THE WINS IN NOVEMBER The Irish capped off a perfect 7-0 record in the month of November, which has become the norm at Notre Dame. In fact, the Irish have won 39 straight games in the month of November and are 42-1 over the past seven seasons. POLL POSITION The preseason AP Poll placed the Fighting Irish in the all too familiar spot among the nation s top-10, starting the year at the No. 6 spot, moving up to No. 2, before moving to its current position at No. 5. The Irish have been in the AP Poll for 210 consecutive weeks (fourth best in the nation), including 140 straight polls inside the top-10. The last time the Irish were out - a No. 11 ranking on Jan. 17, Taking it a step further, the Irish have spent 160 total weeks in the AP s top-five. Speaking of, Notre Dame has now been ranked in the top-10 for the 290th time, marking the fifth most. GULF COAST SHOWCASE CHAMPS Three games, three days, three wins for the Irish, as Notre Dame claimed the 2017 Gulf Coast Showcase championship in Estero, Florida, over Thanksgiving weekend. The Irish first surged past ETSU in the first round before knocking off No. 17/16 USF, Then, the Irish notched a dramatic come-from-behind victory over No. 3/2 South Carolina, trailing by 12-points in the second quarter before recording a 25-point swing, ultimately securing the title with a win. Notre Dame joins the likes of previous Gulf Coast Showcase champions Baylor (2016), Stanford (2015), UConn (2014) and Middle Tennessee (2013). Lastly, Arike Ogunbowale was named to the All-Tournament Team while Jackie Young was named MVP after averaging 19.3 points and 7.7 rebounds. STREAK STOPPER Knocking off No. 3/2 South Carolina, 92-85, did more than just secure the Irish the Gulf Coast Showcase trophy. First, Notre Dame put a stop to the defending national champion s 17-game win streak. Second, Notre Dame s 92 points marked the most against the Gamecocks since Dec. 20, 2009, when North Carolina won in Myrtle Beach. Third, it marked Notre Dame s first top-5 ranked win since previously knocking off South Carolina in the 2015 Final Four in Tampa. ACC / BIG TEN CHALLENGE With an win over Michigan on Nov. 29, the Irish moved to 5-0 in the ACC/B1G Challenge. Previously, Notre Dame defeated No. 10 Penn State, 77-67, in 2013 in Happy Valley - downed No. 15 Maryland, 92-72, in 2014 in Fort Wayne - beat No. 10 Ohio State, 75-72, in 2015 in Purcell Pavilion - then last year, topped Iowa, 73-58, in Iowa City. Overall, the ACC owns eight challenge titles (8-0-3) and boasts an record in challenge games since its inception in In addition, the ACC has won at least six games in every challenge. MCGRAW SIGNS FOUR IN CLASS OF 2018 During the early signing period, Coach McGraw signed guards Katlyn Gilbert, Abby Prohaska and Jordan Nixon, along with post Danielle Cosgrove. ESPNW ranked the signing class No. 6 in the nation. Gilbert guard from Indianapolis, ranked 25th overall and sixth in position. An AP All-State First Team selection and National Gatorade Player of the Year candidate, Gilbert is coming off her best season, averaging 16.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a junior, while shooting 52.0 percent from the floor. Prohaska guard from Liberty Township, Ohio, ranked 78th overall and 20th by position. An AP Division I All-State honoree, Prohaska averaged 11.4 points and 7.1 rebounds last year, in addition to earning a bronze medal at the FIBA U17 World Championship with the USA U17 squad in Nixon guard from New York, New York, ranked 56th overall and 12th by position. Nixon averaged 20.1 points, 8.0 assists and 10 rebounds as a junior, earning Naismith Trophy High School Girls All-America Honorable Mention along with NYSSWA Second Team Class AA All-State in Over this past summer, Nixon led her iexcel AAU team to three national titles. Cosgrove forward from Holbrook, New York, ranked 64th overall and 12th by position. Averaged a double-double as a junior with 17.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. Cosgrove is just the ninth player in Sachem history to reach 1,000 career points, and ultimately ranks fifth in district history with her 1,211 career total SIGNEES NAMED TO MCDONALD S ALL- AMERICAN Good news came on Jan. 16 in the form of future Irish duo Jordan Nixon and Katlyn Gilbert being named to the McDonald s All-American game. The 17th annual event will take place at Philips Arena in Atlanta on March 28. However, the duo will have to wait until they arrive on campus to play together, as Gilbert was named to the West team, while NIxon was placed on the East.
