FROM LAKINGSINSIDER.COM JULY 17, :51 AM KOPITAR TALKS EXPECTED TO PICK UP STEAM Though negotiations with Anze Kopitar over a contract extension are just starting, according to a source in Kings hockey operations, those talks are expected to pick up steam over the coming month, and there is optimism that a contract extension will be finalized this summer. One of the reasons for the timing of the current contract push is that the Kings needed to finalize new contracts for a heavy crop of restricted free agents. That had been communicated to Kopitar and his representation, and because the final six RFAs signed contracts with the Kings over the previous two days, Kopitar s extension now becomes the club s highest and most forefront priority. Because he would be resigning with Los Angeles, he would be eligible to sign an eight-year contract extension. Kopitar, who turns 27 next month, previously signed a seven-year, $47.6-million contract that will expire after the conclusion of the upcoming season. Selected 11th overall at the 2005 NHL Draft, the Jesenice, Slovenia native has 218 goals and 610 points in 683 career games in addition to two Stanley Cups, three All-Star Game selections, two Selke Trophy nominations and a Lady Byng Memorial Trophy nomination. Other Kings whose current contracts expire after the coming season include unrestricted free agents Milan Lucic, Trevor Lewis, Jhonas Enroth, Jamie McBain, Jeff Schultz and Brian O Neill, and restricted free agents Brayden McNabb, Derek Forbort, Jordan Weal and a collection of players who are expected to play the significant majority of their games at the AHL level this season. JULY 16, :02 PM KINGS SIGN FIVE RFAS; ROSTER TAKING SHAPE The Los Angeles Kings signed five restricted free agents to new contracts on Thursday: Nick Shore (two years, $600K AAV) Jordan Weal (one year, $632.5K AAV) Nic Dowd (one year, $600K AAV) Vincent Loverde (two years, $575K AAV) Andrew Crescenzi (one year; financials not immediately available) The first year of Shore s contract is two-way. Weal, for what it s worth, did have several KHL offers presented to him, but ultimately signed with Los Angeles, per sources in hockey operations. If both Weal and Shore s contracts are counted against the salary cap (Weal would have to clear waivers if the Kings wanted to assign him to Ontario, while Shore would not have to clear), Los Angeles now has $65.68-million allotted to 22 players for the season, figures that include Mike Richards cap recapture ($1.32M) and Jamie McBain s contract (he s on a two-way deal) but do not include the contracts of Slava Voynov (under league and team suspension), Jeff Schultz ($850K cap hit) or Derek Forbort ($863K cap hit). Next year s salary cap has been set at $71.4M; teams may have up to 23 players on their active roster. And with that said, it s not a given that McBain plays in Los Angeles and Schultz plays in Ontario; it could be the other way around. Realistically, only one of Schultz and McBain should be expected to start the season with the Kings, barring a spate of injuries. Also, keep in mind that Forbort is entering the final year of his entry-level contract and would not have to clear waivers if he were to be assigned to Ontario; J.F. Berube, Brian O Neill and Jordan Weal would have to clear waivers. Though the Kings currently have $65.68 allotted to 22 players, they are still keeping space available should Voynov be reinstated after the NHL s investigation, and should his immigration and legal status not prohibit him from playing in North America. If Voynov is not reinstated, or the Kings ultimately choose not to keep him, they would then have the cap space necessary to be able to trade for a player during the season. In other words, don t hold your breath for a Cody Franson or Christian

Ehrhoff signing. Los Angeles appears to be done with free agent signings for the summer. Those who played in the organization last season but do not have contracts for are Richards, Jarret Stoll and David Van der Gulik. None are expected to return to the club. For a clear visual of the Kings financials, General Fanager has a good guide stats: Nick Shore (DOB 9/26/92 / 3rd round, 2011) NHL-Los Angeles: 34 GP, 1-6=7, E, 10 PIM, 53.8% FO AHL-Manchester: 38 GP, 20-22=42, +23, 16 PIM Jordan Weal (DOB 4/15/92 / 3rd round, 2010) AHL-Manchester: 73 GP, 20-40=69, +11, 56 PIM, Calder Cup Playoffs MVP Andrew Crescenzi (DOB 7/29/92 / UDFA, 2010; acquired from Toronto January 22, 2014) AHL-Manchester: 54 GP, 7-8=15, -8, 60 PIM Nic Dowd (DOB 5/27/90 / 7th round, 2009) AHL-Manchester: 75 GP, 9-32=41, +17, 44 PIM Vincent LoVerde (DOB 4/15/89 / UDFA, 2014) AHL-Manchester: 63 GP, 9-11=20, +13, 27 PIM All five players won the Calder Cup with the Manchester Monarchs. JULY 16, :49 AM REPORT: KINGS LOGGING APPROXIMATELY 43,750 MILES The Kings will travel approximately 43,750 miles this season. That s the seventh-most miles traveled in hockey, and it comes via the annual report by fellow Wolverine Dirk Hoag, a former editor and writer at SB Nation Nashville Predators blog, On the Forecheck. Every year Hoag (this year with the assistance of Jonathan Garcia) tabulates the approximate number of miles traveled by team, and as expected, six Pacific Division teams (plus Pacific alumni Dallas and Colorado) will travel more than the teams of any other division. The Kings, though have seen their miles decrease for the third straight full season: : 55, : 48, : 44, : 43,750 Here are the miles traveled by Pacific Division teams, with back-to-back sets in parentheses: San Jose: 50,362 (14) Edmonton: 49,401 (9) Calgary: 48,341 (12) Vancouver 45,711 (13) Anaheim: 44,653 (11) LOS ANGELES: 43,750 (13) Arizona: 40,504 (15) -With nine back-to-back sets last season, the Kings and Winnipeg Jets were tied for the fewest in the NHL. Los Angeles has 13 this season; Winnipeg, 12. -After having traveled the most miles in hockey last season, the Arizona Coyotes are expected to travel the fewest miles in the Pacific Division in With 33,487 miles traveled, the Detroit Red Wings will travel the fewest miles in the league this season. That s 9,378 fewer miles than they traveled in , their last 82-game Western Conference schedule. -As noted by Josh Cooper of Puck Daddy, the Penguins will not leave the Eastern Time Zone after January 18. JULY 15, :34 PM ANDREOFF RE-UPS FOR TWO YEARS, $1.175M Restricted free agent forward Andy Andreoff has re-signed with the Kings for two years, the club announced Wednesday. Via hockey operations, the contract carries a $587,500 average annual value. Los Angeles now has $64.45-million allotted to 20

players for the season, figures that include Mike Richards cap recapture ($1.32M) and Jamie McBain s contract (he s on a two-way deal) but do not include the contracts of Slava Voynov (under league and team suspension), Jeff Schultz ($850K cap hit), Derek Forbort ($863K cap hit), or restricted free agents Jordan Weal and Nick Shore. Next year s salary cap has been set at $71.4M; teams may have up to 23 players on their active roster. Here s a neat salary chart from General Fanager. For the third straight year, Andreoff s going to be competing for a job at training camp. He ll have the inside track given that he carries an inexpensive cap hit and already has NHL experience, and despite the catch-22 situation that developed last year, did show a useful set of tools in practice and promise when used over periods of the second half of the season. For Andy, the next step in his career will be the continued establishment of his role as a player and perhaps a leap up from 18 to 60-plus games, should he create an opportunity for himself and all goes well. He s an energy forward with a bellicose temperament, and the Kings are still encouraged by his potential to grow while mindful of his need to adhere to a well-disciplined, positionally sound game. He s playable at both wing and at center, and won 32 of his 61 faceoffs last season. Because the contract is for two years, it also decreases the chance that another team would claim him off waivers, should the Kings at any point decide to assign him to AHL-Ontario in the coming year. Last season, Andreoff totaled two goals and three points in 18 games with Los Angeles and five goals and 10 points in a seven-game December conditioning stint with AHL-Manchester. The former Oshawa General turned 24 in May. Tyler #amigo #missyou 2:38 PM - 15 Jul 2015 Brayden on the new deal! #youkiddingme #roomie 2:53 PM - 15 Jul 2015 JULY 15, :17 PM PLAYER EVALUATION: QUICK JONATHAN QUICK This season: 4,184 minutes, record, 2.24 goals-against average,.918 save percentage, 6 shutouts The good: Jonathan Quick was the Kings workhorse in , and by virtue of his dominance early and the Kings tight playoff race late, hardly ceded any consistent swaths of opportunity for back-up Martin Jones. All-in-all it was a mostly positive season for Quick, who raced out of the gate, dealt with mid-season inconsistency and an incongruous proportion of goals admitted off of tips and deflections before rallying with a strong stretch of play from mid-february on. In the end, his 4,184 minutes ranked second in the league to Brayden Holtby, as did his 72 games and 71 starts. His goals-against average ranked sixth amongst goaltenders who played a minimum of 25 games, and he tied for fourth in the league with six shutouts, surpassing Rogie Vachon s franchise-best 32 in October and setting a new team mark of 37. While the Kings were vulnerable early due to Willie Mitchell s departure and Slava Voynov s suspension, Quick was at his best as he posted a.938 save percentage and a record through his first 17 games. He s just a great competitor, and when he says, it s just about the wins, he means that, and you wish everybody had that attitude, Darryl Sutter said in a revealing look at Quick s team-first embodiment. The bad: Though many of Quick s primary numbers suggested a fine season, one statistic did not: save percentage. With a mark of.918, he ranked 17th in the league amongst goalies with a minimum of 25 games played. With that in mind, I guess it s time to revive the familiar and useless conversation towards how good Jonathan Quick actually is, and how much his numbers are affected by Los Angeles being one of the league s top checking teams (and the top shot suppression team). It doesn t really matter; Quick happens to be a terrific goaltender who *also* plays on a team that

checks well. Slightly more concrete: War-on-Ice says he wasn t amongst top goaltenders when facing high danger shots, having finished 26th in that metric; I m not even sure of the validity of such a statistic, given that Henrik Lundqvist, Ben Bishop, Semyon Varlamov and Corey Crawford all finished below Quick, and they re all fine goalies. For the second consecutive season, Quick posted an even strength save percentage of.928; in , that ranked 16th in the league amongst goalies with at least 1,000 minutes of action. Though more blame should be placed on the shooters, who went 0-22 between November 12 and March 6, shootouts were a slight concern. Quick entered the year with a career record in shootouts, having stopped 70.4% of 206 total shots faced, though in he went 2-7 and stopped 59.3% of 27 shots. And that s exactly why Sutter dislikes the shootout. It s unfair for your goalies, quite honest, because they feel like when they get beat, they feel like they ve lost the game, he said in December. Going forward: Quick is coming off an aboveaverage year as a pro and is in his prime, healthy, and recovered from a full off-season, so he should be of zero concern to the Kings in Could he be of concern once years eight or nine of his massive 10-year contract approach? Sure, that s certainly a possibility, but we re not there yet will be the third year of Quick s contract, and there are no red flags other than the general unease that accompanies 10-year goalie deals. Quick has his critics, though Darryl Sutter had the best word when he said, Basically, those are the people who don t want somebody to do well. Those who would unduly criticize Quick have no sense of the franchise s goaltending history. In the 26 seasons played between 1981 and 2008, 14 different goalies led the team in minutes played, and none of them had a single-season save percentage better than Jamie Storr s.916 in Should he lead the team in minutes played this year, he will become the first King to do so over a span of seven consecutive seasons. His numbers already fill up virtually every page of the franchise s goaltending records, and he s a Conn Smythe Trophy winner. With a combination of his Championship-seasoned and resolute competitiveness (hey, intangibles! Remember them?) and his mobility and athleticism, Quick is by default in the Vezina Trophy speculation at the start of the season and remains in an elite group of top goaltenders that includes Henrik Lundqvist, Pekka Rinne and Carey Price and maybe one or two others. Quick has experienced injury this decade he underwent back surgery in 2012, wrist surgery in 2014 and suffered a Grade 2 groin strain in 2013 but should be well recovered and healthy come September, when he ll return to Los Angeles as the Kings franchise goaltender. JULY 14, :18 PM CERNAK SIGNS ENTRY-LEVEL CONTRACT Erik Cernak has signed a three-year entry level contract with the Kings, opening his pathway to play in North America in the coming year. Los Angeles top pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, Cernak, 18, was selected in the second round, 43rd overall. The well grown 6-foot-3, 203-pound defenseman represented Slovakia at the World Junior Championships in his 16 and 17-year-old seasons, both of which ended with HC Kosice championships at the club level. Part of Cernak s appeal in addition to a fluid combination of mobility and size is his freedom to play at a variety of different levels. Very rarely do you have complete control over a European s development path, and we have complete flexibility in terms of his development path, Director of Amateur Scouting Mark Yannetti said at the NHL Draft. So, there are four or five different options we can deploy with him next year, all the way from staying in Europe, to going to the American league or going to Juniors if we sign him. So, in terms of what our development staff can do, and the fact that we can get our hands on him immediately, where a lot of times look at Kempe s adjustment in just one month. Give our guys the whole summer, then a whole season. If that s the path we choose, it s rarely open to us, and the attributes he brings at that pick, with that flexibility, made it for us a no-brainer. By signing, Cernak s most likely destinations this season are Erie, which drafted his major junior

rights, and Ontario. Because he was drafted out of Europe, and not a North American major junior league, he is eligible to play in the AHL as early as this season. If the initial thought of an 18-year-old making his North American debut in the AHL seems to be a stretch, the Reign s blue line will see some turnover and will be a bit younger than the Monarchs blue line was in Derek Forbort may graduate to the NHL, Andrew Bodnarchuk signed with Columbus, and Colin Miller was traded to Boston. That leaves approximately seven or eight spots for Kevin Gravel, Vincent LoVerde (an RFA who was qualififed), Nick Ebert, Alex Roach, Alex Lintuniemi, Zac Leslie and Kurtis McDermid. Jamie McBain will also likely see time in Ontario, as could Jeff Schultz; Lintuniemi and Cernak are the only players eligible amongst the group to play major junior hockey in Returning to the Slovak Extraliga is also a possibility. With that considered, it wouldn t be a surprise to see Cernak report to Erie this season in addition to offering a defense of Slovakia s bronze medal at his third World Junior Championships. The 25-year-old Dowd (born May 27, 1990) is a 6-2, 197-pound forward from Huntsville, Ala. who appeared in 75 regular-season games during his first full professional season last season with Manchester (AHL), recording 41 points (9-32=41), a plus-17 rating and 44 penalty minutes. He appeared in all 19 postseason games with the Monarchs during their Calder Cup run, finishing with 13 points (7-6=13), a plus-6 rating and 10 penalty minutes. A seventh round (198th overall) selection of the Kings at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Dowd has played in 82 regular-season AHL games with the Monarchs, registering 44 points (9-35=44), a plus-18 rating and 44 penalty minutes.

The 26-year-old LoVerde (born April 15, 1989) is a 5-11, 209-pound defenseman from Chicago, Ill. who appeared in 63 regular-season games last season with Manchester, scoring 20 points (9-11=20), a plus-11 rating and 63 penalty minutes. He also played in all 19 postseason games with the Monarchs, registering 10 points (2-8=10), a plus-13 rating and 27 minutes. Later during that season, Sutter led the Kings to the franchise s first-ever Stanley Cup Championship. Two seasons later, in 2014, Sutter was behind the bench when his roster hoisted the Cup for the second time in three years. Then, on October 14, 2014, he became the fastest coach in Kings history to hit the 100 regular season win mark. Sutter carried a mark into the game where he would ultimately hit the century mark in the win column. NHL Public Darryl Sutter is the fastest coach history to reach 100 wins with the club (184 games). 10:11 PM - 14 Oct 2014 The Kings were playing host to the Edmonton Oilers that night in what was just their fourth game of the young campaign. Coming into the night with a record, and riding the energy coming off of their first win of the season, the Kings made short work of the Oilers trouncing Edmonton 6-1 to get their head coach to triple digits in the win column. The win that catapulted Sutter to his 100th win included arguably the most beautiful goal scored by the Kings of the season, via a shorthanded Tyler Toffoli. Sutter, like we ve been accustomed to expecting from the Kings head coach, downplayed the milestone. Actually, that s not true is it? We ve won a lot more games than that. Including the Kings three deep playoff runs, Sutter, at the time, had racked up 141 wins behind the Los Angeles bench. Jon 100 regular season wins for Darryl Sutter, 141 wins overall. 10:08 PM - 14 Oct 2014 Sutter s predecessor, Terry Murray, was the second-fastest coach in Kings history to reach 100 wins doing so in 197 games, 14 games shy of Sutter s 183. Murray, like Sutter, also notched his 100th win against the

Edmonton Oilers at STAPLES Center, on December 23, The man who corralled Sutter to Los Angeles, General Manager Dean Lomardi, hit a milestone as well on that October 14, 2014 evening picking up his 300th win with the Kings franchise since he joined the organization in April of No other GM in Kings history has ever reached the 300-win mark. Lombardi now has 300 wins as Kings GM and Sutter has 100 as Head Coach of Kings (plus those many playoff wins); 8:28 AM - 15 Oct 2014 Andy's Back The Kings have agreed to terms on a new 2-year contract with forward Andy Andreoff Wednesday, / 4:23 PM PT / Los Angeles Kings News By Alex Kinkopf - LAKings.com The Kings agreed to terms on a brand new two-year contract with restricted free agent Andy Andreoff on Wednesday afternoon. The back-end forward made his professional debut in the American Hockey League with the Manchester Monarchs during the season after coming up through the Oshawa Generals OHL system for five years. In 157 games played with the Monarchs, including seven last season, Andreoff registered 72 total points (30G, 42A). Andreoff, drafted by the Kings in the third round (80th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, played in 18 games with the big club during the campaign. Andreoff made his NHL debut on October 14, 2014 in the Kings 6-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers at STAPLES Center. In his 18 games as a Rookie, Andreoff recorded three points (2G, 1A); he scored his first-career NHL goal on March 16 in the Kings 1-0 win over the Arizona Coyotes at STAPLES Center. Andreoff, who the Kings signed on the cheap, at $1.175M over the next two seasons, will likely be in the running to fight for a roster spot during training camp come September. Having difficulty cracking the Kings lineup on a consistent basis, Andreoff didn t necessarily have the chance to find any rhythm or balance in his game last season. Locked down for two more years, and with another summer of training under his belt, it will be interesting to see if the 24 year-old Pickering, Ontario native can string together a solid run of appearances next season on the Kings 3rd and 4th lines. 10 Kings Sign Forward Andy Andreoff To Two-Year Contract Wednesday, / 2:11 PM PT / Los Angeles Kings News LA Kings.com LOS ANGELES The Los Angeles Kings have signed restricted free agent forward Andy Andreoff to a twoyear contract, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. The 24-year-old Andreoff (born on May 17, 1991) is a 6-1, 206-pound native of Pickering, Ontario who appeared in 18 regular-season games last season with the Kings. He registered three points (2-1=3), a plus-1 rating and 18 penalty minutes. A third-round (80th overall) selection of the Kings at the 2011 NHL Draft, Andreoff appeared in his first NHL game last season on Oct. 14 vs. Edmonton. He tallied his first goal, March 16 vs. Arizona. The goal was also the game-winning goal, becoming the first Kings player to have his first career goal also be the game-winning goal since Jordan Nolan did so on Feb. 12, 2012 at Dallas. In the last game of the season, Andreoff recorded his first multi-point game (1-1=2), April 11 vs. San Jose. His assist that night also marked his first career assist. The Sporting Life Professional MMA fighter Michael Page, a long-time Kings fan, talks hockey Wednesday, / 11:06 AM PT / Los Angeles Kings News LA Kings.com By: Danny Brener - Special to LAKings.com Michael Venom Page is a long-time Kings fan who also knows a little bit about rough-play. In fact, this week he fights for Bellator on Spike this Friday at 9E/8C against Rudy Bears. LAKings.com recently caught up with the native of England before his next fight to talk Kings hockey: Q: When and how did you become a Kings fan? A: My best friend Kyle had bought the EA SPORTS NHL 96 game that we both ended up really getting into. He would always be the Mighty Ducks and I would always be the LA Kings. I learned the players mainly through the game and have been following them ever since. Q: What is your most unique Kings experience in-person? A: I managed to see them play for the first and only time unfortunately -- when they came to England in 2007 at the 02 Arena. Kyle and I went to watch the Kings versus Ducks. They each won a game when they came to England, but we only went to the game that the Kings won. So we picked the proper game, at least in my opinion. Q: Have you ever ice skated or played hockey in England? A: I used to ice skate every weekend at a local ice rink in London Queensway, at the Queens, Ice, Bowl but ice hockey is probably one of the few sports I've never taken part in. I d imagine I d be very quick and good out there with a bit of practice, but I d want to step up a few weight classes before skating one on one with Drew Doughty. Q: Who are your favorite current and former Kings players?

A: My favorite player was Rob Blake. I liked that he was named the team captain. I never really cared about individual stats. In more recent years I enjoy watching guys like Tyler Toffoli, Jeff Carter and Jonathan Quick. Q: Which Bellator fighter do you think would be the best hockey player? A: I'm not sure if he can ice skate, but if he could I think King Mo would make for a top defenseman. He would have some serious hits out on the ice. Q: Which Bellator fighter do you think would be the worst hockey player? A: Probably Marcin Held because he'd be on the ice attached to different members of the opposing teams legs trying to break them off. Just kidding. Q: Which Kings player would make the best MMA fighter and do you have any fighting tips for them? A: I actually think that Jonathan Quick would make the best MMA fighter because of his quick reflexes in and around the goal. But my advice to him is simple -- he needs to retrain himself and avoid shots not get in the way of them! Follow Page on Twitter Frozen (Fury) In Time 18 years ago today, the Kings announced the organization's first-ever Frozen Fury game Tuesday, / 2:29 PM PT / Los Angeles Kings News By Alex Kinkopf - LAKings.com 18 years ago today, on July 14, 1997, the Kings announced that the first Frozen Fury game would take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada in September later that year. Now, as we trudge through the dog days of summer, the 17th annual preseason game in Sin City is just ten weeks away. The game in Vegas has become an annual tradition for the organization, its permeated through the fan base into a celebration commending the end of the preseason and the imminent commencement of the regular season. Before Frozen Fury even existed, the Kings made NHL history on September 27, 1991, playing the league's

first-ever outdoor game on the Vegas strip next to Caesar s Palace. Playing in 90 degree temperatures, the Kings defeated the New York Rangers 5-2 in a game that featured game delays because of grass-hoppers on the ice, Zamboni drivers who dressed as Trojans, and maintenance workers who were feverously trying to uphold ice conditions with cans of nitrogen. With a chance of sick hair. It wouldn t be until six years later, on September 20, 1997, that the Kings played their first official Frozen Fury game these were, in fact, agreed to be played indoors. The Kings would go on to beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 in OT in the inaugural game, with Donald MacLean scoring the game-winning goal for Los Angeles. 16 FROM NHL.COM Los Angeles Kings re-sign forward Andy Andreoff for 2 years, $1,175,000 Wednesday, / 6:45 PM / News The Canadian Press LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Los Angeles Kings have re-signed forward Andy Andreoff to a two-year deal worth $1,175,000. The Kings announced the deal Wednesday. Andreoff was a restricted free agent after getting two goals and one assist in 18 games last season for the Kings. He made his NHL debut last Oct. 14 and appeared intermittently in Los Angeles' lineup, scoring two points in the Kings' regular-season finale. Andreoff plays on the wing and at centre, where the physical forward won more than half of his faceoffs. He will compete for a job in the Kings' lineup in training camp.

FROM ESPN.COM Kings re-sign 5 restricted free agents, including Nick Shore, Jordan Weal Associated Press EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- The Los Angeles Kings have re-signed five restricted free agents, including center Nick Shore. The Kings on Thursday also re-signed defenseman Vincent LoVerde and forwards Jordan Weal, Andrew Crescenzi and Nic Dowd. Shore got a two-year, $1.2 million deal after making his NHL debut last season. He appeared in 34 games for the Kings. Shore scored seven points and won a team-best 53.8 percent of his faceoffs for the Kings before winning the Calder Cup with the AHL's Manchester Monarchs. Weal, Crescenzi, Dowd and LoVerde also played extensively for the Kings' championship-winning AHL affiliate. Weal was the Calder Cup playoffs MVP. LoVerde got a two-year contract worth $1.15 million, and the other three signed one-year deals. 18 FROM MAYORSMANOR.COM LA Kings Projected Lineup and Salary Cap Review July 16, 2015 By John Hoven Twitter isn t for everybody, we know. And not everybody gets a chance to listen to the various radio spots we post here on MayorsManor. Thus, as a friendly service, let s look at the Kings projected roster for next season since that seems to be one of the most popular questions we ve received as of late. Remember, there is a 23 player maximum for NHL rosters. They can continue to evaluate players/prospects during training camp, but the team s opening night roster will need to be submitted just a few days after Frozen Fury on October 3. LA Kings Projected lineup Milan Lucic Anze Kopitar Marian Gaborik Tanner Pearson Jeff Carter Tyler Toffoli Dwight King Nick Shore Dustin Brown Kyle Clifford Trevor Lewis Jordan Weal Extra forwards: Andy Andreoff and Jordan Nolan Jake Muzzin Drew Doughty Brayden McNabb Slava Voynov * Alec Martinez Matt Greene Extra defenseman: Derek Forbort Jonathan Quick Jhonas Enroth * Putting all of his issues to the side for a moment, from everybody we have spoken with inside the organization, Voynov is expected back in Los Angeles. Re-phrase that as they hope he is back, or any other way you prefer. While there are still a plethora of legal details to be worked out, the short version of the story is that is the expectation. As we wrote about here, he could begin the season on a short-term suspension (as yet to be handed out by the NHL). Of course, he already missed nearly the entire season under a league suspension. There is also the matter of his achilles injury, so the Kings will need a back-up plan until, say December. Enter Jamie McBain. The right shot, puck moving defenseman was recently signed to a one-year contract extension coming off a 28-game stint with the Kings, after originally signing with the club last November. Slotting the corresponding salary cup numbers into that lineup, the Kings cap situation looks as follows: Lucic Kopitar Gaborik 3,250,000 6,800,000 4,875,000

Pearson Carter Toffoli 1,400,000 5,272,727 3,250,000 King Shore Brown 1,950, ,000 5,875,000 Clifford Lewis Weal 1,600,000 1,525, ,500 Andreoff Nolan 587, ,000 Muzzin Doughty 4,000,000 7,000,000 McNabb Voynov 650,000 4,166,666 Martinez Greene 4,000,000 2,500,000 Forbort 863,333 5,800,000 Quick 1,250,000 Enroth $68,797,726 SUB-TOTAL Add in the $1.32M penalty for the termination of Mike Richards contract and the Kings would be at $70,117,726. The salary cap limit has been set at $71.4M. Few additional comments Obviously, if/when McBain is taking up Voynov s roster spot, there is a potential savings, as his contract is only $600K. Also, if McBain clears waivers and is sent to the AHL, his salary would not count against the cap. If J.F. Berube was to beat out Enroth for the backup goaltending job, his contract is $563K. However, the league minimum in is being raised to $575K. Competing with Weal for that open roster spot will be four of the Kings top prospects at forward: Jonny Brodzinski ($809K), Nic Dowd ($600K), Adrian Kempe ($925K), and Michael Mersch ($787K).

Dev Camp Quotes: Cernak, Leslie, and Lintuniemi Could Play on Reign Blueline July 16, 2015 By MayorsManor Hockey Fresh on the heels of a new two-year deal with forward Andy Andreoff on Wednesday, the LA Kings have reached agreements with two of their other Restricted Free Agents, as we reported on twitter earlier today: #LAKings contract news: Nick Shore's new deal is for 2 years. YR1 is a two-way (he doesn't need waivers to go to AHL), YR2 is one-way only. 11:40 AM - 16 Jul 2015 More contract news: #LAkings and 2015 AHL Calder Cup MVP Jordan Weal have agreed on his qualifying offer (meaning, new one year deal). 11:51 AM - 16 Jul 2015 Shore is currently penciled in as the third-line center for the Kings in the upcoming NHL season. Our note on him not requiring waivers was in response to several recent questions about his status. Because he was only 19 years old at the time of his contract signing (and coming out of college), he can actually be sent back and forth to the AHL freely for one more year. Most players coming out of junior hockey require waivers after they come off their Entry Level Contracts. His new contract is for $600K at the NHL level for both years of the deal. His AHL pay for next year would be $90K. One of three Shore brothers to be drafted by NHL teams in recent years, Nick made his NHL debut last season and played 34 games with the Kings, recording one goal and six assists. He began the season with Manchester and was among the AHL goal scoring leaders at the time of his call-up. He also returned to the Monarchs for the playoffs, suiting up for all 19 games of the Calder Cup Championship run. Weal is out of waiver options. And, as if there was little doubt before, being named the 2015 AHL Calder Cup MVP all but sealed the fact he will not pass through without being claimed. Thus, the high scoring forward will be given every opportunity to crack the Kings lineup in training camp, including as a winger. He is coming off a season in which he produced 69 points in 73 regular season games, then followed that up with 22 points in 19 playoff games breaking several team records in the process. By agreeing on his qualifying offer, Weal will essentially be paid 10% above the $575,000 listed in his last contract ($632,500), should he secure an NHL job. UPDATE: Vincent LoVerde (two years), Nic Dowd (one year), and Andrew Crescenzi (one year) have also signed new extensions with the Kings. Loverde s contract has an AAV of $575K at the NHL level, with minor league pay of $70K and $100K (with $80K and $125K guaranteed). Dowd is at $600K AAV if he is in the NHL and $72.5K in the minors (with $85K guaranteed).

FROM RINKROYALTY.COM LA Kings Future Remains Bright After Re-Signing Key Free Agents From LA Sports Hub - By Ryan Whitehead The future for the LA Kings just got brighter as GM Dean Lombardi announced Thursday that Nick Shore, Jordan Weal, Andrew Crescenzi, Nick Dowd, and Vincent LoVerde all signed extensions. Shore and LoVerde each signed for two years, while Weal, Crescenzi, and Dowd all signed one year contracts. Shore saw some playing time with the Kings last year, making his debut January 17 against the Anaheim Ducks and recorded his first NHL point against the San Jose Sharks on January 21. His first goal would come against the New York Islanders on March 26. He would be a huge asset for the Manchester Monarchs during their Calder Cup run as he led the team in assists with 14 and finished fourth in points with 18. Weal last season played in 73 games in Manchester and totaled 69 points. He ended up ranked third in the AHL in points and assists. Weal also appeared in 19 postseason games and earned 22 points. He was awarded MVP last year after he tied for the league lead in points, tied for third in goals, ranked fifth in assists, and tied for second in game-winning goals. Drafted by the Kings in the 2010 Draft, the 23-year-old Weal has played in a total of 239 games in Manchester and has recorded 173 points. He appeared in a total of 27 playoff games and earned 27 points. Crescenzi appeared in 54 regular season games and totaled 15 points. He set career-highs in goals, assists, games played, points, and penalty minutes. He also played in 18 postseason games. Acquired in a trade with Toronto last season, Crescenzi totaled in 117 AHL games between both teams and earned 22 points. Dowd appeared in 75 games in his debut season last year in Manchester and recorded 41 points. He appeared in all 19 playoff games last season and finished with 13 points. Drafted in 2009, Dowd has totaled in 82 regular season games and earned 44 points. LoVerde played in 63 regular season games last campaign and totaled in 20 points at Manchester. He also appeared in all 19 postseason games and earned 10 points and played 27 minutes. After signing on as a free agent last season, LoVerde appeared in a total of 184 regular season AHL games and totaled in 53 points. The secret to the recent success the Kings have had in the last four seasons has been the contribution of the young players who have been called up from Manchester. Players such as Tyler Toffoli, Tanner Pearson, Jordan Nolan, and Dwight King have put up impressive numbers with the Kings since being called up. Also, with the Monarchs recent Calder Cup win last season shows that the future looks full of talented young players ready to contribute for the Stanley Cup. Re-signing key guys such as these five is vital to setting up a firm foundation for the future of the Kings organization.

FROM CBSSPORTS.COM Kings Sign 5 Restricted Free Agents LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) The Los Angeles Kings have re-signed five restricted free agents, including center Nick Shore. Shore scored seven points and won a team-best 53.8 percent of his faceoffs for the Kings before winning the Calder Cup with the AHL s Manchester Monarchs. Weal, Crescenzi, Dowd and LoVerde also played extensively for the Kings championship-winning AHL affiliate. Weal was the Calder Cup playoffs MVP. LoVerde got a two-year contract worth $1.15 million, while the other three signed one-year deals.

FROM PROHOCKEYTALK.NBCSPORTS.COM Kings sign five RFAs, including Shore and Weal James O'Brien Jul 16, 2015, 5:31 PM EDT The Los Angeles Kings announced the signings of five restricted free agents on Thursday: Nick Shore (to a two-year deal), Jordan Weal (one), Andrew Crescenzi (one), Nic Dowd (one) and Vincent LoVerde (two). Shore and Weal (pictured) are the two players to watch most closely. Shore, 23, brings decent size to the table and already managed seven points in 34 regular season games last season. He s currently penciled in as the third-line center for the Kings next season, according to Mayor s Manor. Shore can also be sent down to the AHL via waivers, which is worth considering if he suffers from a slow start or a rough season in general. Mayor s Manor points out that Weal, also 23, would need to pass through waivers. Jon Have heard that Shore s contract carries a 600K AAV. First year of the contract is two-way 2:58 PM 16 Jul 2015 Weal was the MVP of the AHL s Calder Cup playoffs after tying for the league lead with 22 postseason points. He ll likely get a strong chance to earn a depth spot with Los Angeles in Crescenzi, 22, is a big forward acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs back in Dowd, 25, put up solid AHL numbers during the Manchester Monarchs playoff run. LoVerde, 26, is an undrafted free agent with plenty of AHL experience. Kings ink Andy Andreoff for two years, $1.175M James O'Brien Jul 15, 2015, 6:30 PM EDT The Los Angeles Kings signed funny-named forwardandy Andreoff to a two-year contract on Wednesday. LA Kings Insider s Jon Rosen reports that it s worth $1.175 million overall, or $587,500 per season. There isn t any word from Rosen or the Kings regarding whether the deal is one-way or two-way. Andreoff appeared in 18 regular season games with Los Angeles in , collecting two goals and one assist for three points while receiving 8:34 minutes of ice time per contest. The 24-year-old also generating 10 points in 11 games at the AHL level with the Manchester Monarchs. He may provide a little extra grit for the Kings here and there, as he produced 133 PIM in and 111 in with Manchester. Andreoff was a third-round pick (80th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft.

FROM THEHOCKEYWRITERS.COM Kings Find NHL Careers in the Second Round COLE QUERRY The second round of the draft has been fruitful the ever since Dean Lombardi and his scouting staff have taken over. Of the 10 second round selections Lombardi and company has made since 2006, five of them have seen playing time in the NHL. Some have been released, some are still in development and some of them have their names on the Stanley Cup. The Trend of Finding Second-Round Stunners In 2007, the Kings had two second round picks. After Oscar Moller was taken 52nd overall with the first of the two second round choices, Lombardi would begin pulling great players in the second round, consecutively and year-after-year. With the 61st overall pick, Lombardi drafted Wayne Simmonds. Simmonds is a great two-way player that has flourished as a multidimensional offensive producer as well. In the three years Simmonds spent with the Kings, fans saw how special Simmonds was. He was fast along the boards, physical in front of the net, and could play in all situations. Simmonds carried his skill-set to the along with Brayden Schenn and a 2012 second round draft pick in a trade that would send Mike Richards (along with other assets) to the Kings. Simmonds has 110 points the last two years with Flyers and has come close to hitting 30 goals three times during the last four years. Following suit in 2008, the Kings drafted Russian defenseman Slava Voynov with the 32 overall pick in the second round of the draft. Voynov progressed quickly in his development and played so well that it allowed the team to acquire Jeff Carter in a trade that sent defenseman Jack Johnson along with a first-round draft pick to the Blue Jackets. Voynov played a big part in the consistent contention the Kings had been in previous years and played well enough to help the Kings win two Stanley Cups. Despite Voynov s play and the incredible gem Lombardi had found in the second round in 2008, things took a turn for the worst as Voynov was suspended indefinitely by the NHL because of felonious domestic violence charges filed against him early in the season. The case of Voynov has been trying for the organization and fans alike, but has found some form of resolution as Voynov pleaded no contest and will have to spend (up to) 90 days in jail, serve three years of probation, and pay fines. Currently, Voynov is also suspended by the Kings organization due to an injury that occurred outside of professional hockey activities. Proceeding 2008 and the great second round pick up of Voynov, the Kings selected Kyle Clifford in the second round in The 24-year old left-winger just finished his fifth season with the Kings and signed a five-year extension in February worth $8 million at an average annual value of $1.6 million. Although he was not in the lineup for the Kings in the finals of 2012, the second round draft pick has his name on the Stanley Cup, not once, but twice after assisting on the cup-clinching goal in Following the NHL season and previous second-round draft pick Kyle Clifford s final junior season with the Barrie Colts, the Kings selected Tyler Toffoli with the 47 overall pick in the 2010 NHL draft. Toffoli had a break-out season this last season with a career-high 23 goals and 49 points. Before the 2015 draft, Toffoli signed a two-year extension with the Kings at a very reasonable $6.6 million prior to free agency beginning.
