Last night the Mavs held Colorado s high-powered special teams unit to 0-for-4 on the man-advantage, including a kill of a five-minute major. I M LOVIN IT Mason McDonald was thrust into action last night after a first-period injury to goalie Tyler Parsons. McDonald had one of his best games as a Maverick, stopping 21 of 22 shots over the final two periods and change. BUYING MURCH Mike McMurtry ranks seventh in the ECHL in scoring after adding another power play goal during last night s game. The Greely, Ontario native leads KC in points (30), goals (14), assists (16), power play goals (5) and game-winning goals (3) for the year. CASHING IN ON PPs The Mavericks have scored four power play goals over the last two games, clicking at a 40-percent clip. Mike McMurtry has accounted for three of those lamplighters and Mark Cooper scored the thrid of the team s four over that span. THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER Through 25 games, three seems to be the magic number for the Mavericks when talking about goals allowed to opponents. The Mavs are on the season when holding opposing teams to three goals or less while Kansas City is on the year when allowing four or more scores.

Last night s game was the first time the Mavericks have faced off against the defending Kelly Cup champs since playing against Allen on March 30, QUIET NIGHT The Mavericks were able to quiet Colorado s offense for the majority of the game last night, limiting the Eagles to half of their average goals per game of POINT PER GAME PACE The Eagles lead the ECHL in scoring, clicking at a 4.00 goals-per-game clip as a team. Colorado has gotten a boost on the offensive end from six players who are operating at a pointper-game clip individually, led by Michael Joly s 1.29 points per contest. ROAD TROUBLES While Colorado leads the Western conference in points, the Eagles have been less impressive on the road with a mark after last night s win. TOP LINE WAS THE DIFFERENCE Only three players scored in last night s 2-1 win for the Eagles, with all three members of the top forward line registering two points on the night. *Probable lines are based on the last game and subject to change

First two rounds played within divisions, then conference championship round followed by Kelly Cup Finals. Mavs Minutes A Look Back The Kansas City Mavericks dropped Saturday s game against the Colorado Eagles by a 2-1 final score at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. Mike McMurtry stayed hot with yet another goal on the power play in the second period to tie the game at one, but a goal ealry in the third from Colorado captain Garbowsky was the difference in the game. Netminder Mason McDonald was strong in relief of injured Tyler Parsons, stopping 21 of 22 shots faced. Killing Spree After a slow start to the season, the Mavericks have shown a strong penalty killing unit having killed off 32 of 38 opponent power plays over the last 12 games (.842 clip). Kansas City now ranks 25th on the year in the ECHL on the penalty kill, but the play over the last 12 games has been a big step up compared to the start of the season that leads to the low ranking. Last year the Mavericks finished third in the ECHL in penalty killing. McMurtry Takes Over Mike McMurtry now leads the Mavericks in points (30), goals (14) and assists (16) on the season, overcoming a slower start to the year to vault to seventh in the ECHL in scoring. He has been particularly hot of late, scoring nine points (5G+4A) over the last five games to guide the Mavericks efforts on the offensive end of the ice. Par(sons) For The Course Rookie goalie Tyler Parsons was named ECHL Goalie of the Week for Nov. 14 through 20 after stopping a total of 135 of 141 shots faced to guide the Mavericks to four wins while he was in net last week. In wins, Parsons has been particularly strong with 298 saves on 315 shots faced for a.946 Save Percentage. He earned third star of the game honors last game after helping the Mavericks snap their three-game losing streak by beating the Allen Americans 4-1 at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena on Monday. A Road Trip To Remember The Mavericks made team history from Nov. 14 through 19 with five wins in six days, the first time the franchise has racked up that many wins in that short a time. The team had previously won five games in seven days twice in its nine-year existence. Additionally, KC is riding a four-game road win streak for the first time since the season when the team amassed six straight wins on the road from October through December. Pauly Keeps Pushing Shawn Pauly has now surpassed his goal total from last season as he now has eight this year. Pauly netted a hat trick against the Tulsa Oilers (11/14) to lead the Mavericks to their first win of a six-game win streak and punctuated the team s string of Ws with the overtime game winner against Wichita last Wednesday (11/22). The Bellingham, Washington native played in 54 games last season and 16 games so far this season, producing equal six-goal efforts. For KC, Less Is More Through 20 games on the season, the Mavericks are now 5-9 on the year when outshooting opponents compared to now 6-3 when being outshot. KC is also 2-0 when tied in shots on goal. Kansas City outshot its opponent in each of the team s last two games, both losses. The Legs Feed The Wolf The Mavericks have boosted their record with their play beyond 60 minutes so far this season, claiming a perfect 5-0 record when the game goes past regulation time. Kansas City first won in a shootout at Kalamazoo (10/25), then took a shootout at Atlanta (11/3) and most recently topped the Wichita Thunder in overtime, 3-2 on Wednesday. Mavs Packing Heat in Net The Mavericks entered preseason camp with only one goalie, Ty Rimmer, who was traded to Greenville for future considerations after the announced additions of Mason McDonald and Tyler Parsons to the team from the AHL s Stockton Heat. Both goalies bring polished resumes that include Best Goalie awards (McDonald - U-18 WJC, 2013; Parsons -CHL Most Outstanding Goaltender; ) and World Junior tournament championships (McDonald - U-18, 2013, Parsons - U-20, 2017). Both goalies were picked in the second round by the Calgary Flames in their respective drafts, McDonald going 34th overall in 2014 and Parsons 54th overall in 2016.

13 Straight Outta Stockton Us Against The World The Mavericks are already seeing the benefits of the new affiliation with the Calgary Flames and Stockton Heat, currently carrying six players on the roster assigned from Stockton. In addition to goalies McDonald and Parsons, Kansas City received forwards KC Record By Opponent Mike McMurtry and Darren Nowick during the team s preseason camp and acquired forward Hunter Smith after the first game of the season. McMurtry is a young forward who began his career in the AHL with the Texas Stars at the end of the season and he spent the majority of the campaign in Austin with the Stars as well. Nowick is a familiar face in Kansas City, bringing parts of two seasons of experience with the Mavericks to the team this season. Smith is a former second-round selection of the Flames in the 2014 NHL Draft, along with McDonald. The 6-foot-7, 231-pound forward won a Memorial Cup and an OHL title with the Oshawa Generals in the season. Lagace Claims First NHL Win Former Maverick Maxime Lagace won his first NHL game on Saturday, Nov. 4, a 5-4 win over the Ottawa Senators. Lagace made his NHL debut last Monday, the fourth goalie in the short history of the Vegas Golden Knights. Lagace was called up to the NHL after an injury to Marc-Andre Fleury, and he found his way into the crease following injuries to Malcolm Subban and Oskar Dansk. Husso Makes Three Ville Husso became the third former Maverick to get the call-up to the NHL when he was recalled by the St. Louis Blues on Oct. 28, the date of the Mavericks first game against Wichita. Husso did not see game action and was returned to the AHL s San Antonio Rampage. At Home ( ) Team...Record Allen Atlanta Cincinnati Colorado Florida Fort Wayne Greenville Idaho Indy Kalamazoo Quad City Rapid City Toledo Tulsa Utah Wichita Friday Night Ice Package Expanded To 10 Games The Mavericks partnership with KCTV and KSMO has continued to grow since its inception two seasons ago, with this year s televised package including 10 home games, eight of which on Fridays, to be shown on KSMO TV. The full TV schedule includes home dates against Wichita (Nov. 10), Kalamazoo (Dec. 1), Tulsa (Dec. 31), Toledo (Jan. 19), Rapid City (Jan. 26 and 27), Cincinnati (Feb. 2), Indy (Feb. 16), Allen (Feb. 23) and Fort Wayne (March 2). Similar to seasons past, Joel Goldberg will provide the play-by-play while Simon Watson adds color to the broadcast. New Divisions in A new season brings a new divisional alignment to the ECHL. The Mavericks, who spent last season in the Western Conference s Mountain Division, are now in the West s Central Division along with the Cincinnati Cyclones, Fort Wayne Komets, Indy Fuel, Kalamazoo Wings, Quad City Mallards and Toledo Walleye. The Mavs will play a total of 32 games against divisional opponents during the season. New Faces On The Roster Mavericks head coach John-Scott Dickson stayed busy this offseason assembling a roster loaded with talent. Some newcomers of note include Mark Cooper, who was second in scoring on Rapid City a year ago. Cooper scored the empty-netter to seal the win against Tulsa in the Mavs season opener. Jordan Kwas, coming off a 20-goal season, was aquired from Wheeling via trade for defenseman Zach Tolkinen. Troy Donnay comes to Kansas City from Greenville after wrapping up a three-year Entry Level Contract with the New York Rangers. New Name, Who Dis? The season represents a new beginning for the Mavericks, who officially changed their team name from Missouri Mavericks to Kansas City Mavericks on June 1. The name change came as part of an effort to better represent the entire fan base on both sides of State Line. With the new name also came a new NHL affiliation, as the team announced a partnership with the NHL s Calgary Flames and AHL s Stockton Heat at a June 8 press conference. A Look Ahead The Mavericks and Eagles face off again Sunday at 4:05 p.m., the final home game for Kansas City before the team s New Year s Eve game against Tulsa.
