1 1.0 TOURNAMENT INFORMATION Ingolstadt will host the 2009 IIHF InLine Hockey World Championships Pool A and Pool B. The town is located in Southern Germany about 80 km north of Munich, the capital of Bavaria. 1.1 ARENA SITES Tournament Dates: Saturday, June 06 Sunday, June 14, 2009 Tournament Sites: Main Rink Ingolstadt, Bavaria SATURN-ARENA Südliche Ringstr Ingolstadt / GER Phone: +49 (0) 841 / Fax: +49 (0) 841 / Seating Capacity: 1,800 Standing Capacity: 3,000 Second Rink: Seating Capacity: 200 Standing Capacity: TOURNAMENT FORMAT The preliminary round will be played in 4 groups (A-D) with 4 teams each. The groups A and B form Pool A, the groups C and D form Pool B. The two last-placed teams of the groups A and B and the two first-placed teams of the groups C and D play for 4 th place in group A and B to participate in the Play-Offs of Pool A. The losers of the games beetween 4 th A and 1 st C, 4 th B and 1 st D play as first place in group C and D to participate in the Play-Offs of Pool B. The ranking of the groups is based according to the result of the last World Championships performance of the respective countries in the IIHF InLine Hockey Program and the qualification rounds. Seeded 16 and 15 you will find the qualifier of the Asian/Oceanian Group Chinese Taipei (TPE) and South Africa (RSA) as qualifier of the African Group according to their WC s ranking points. In the preliminary round the games of group A and B will be played in the main ARENA, the games of group C and D in Rink 2. The A-Pool and B-Pool World Championship (Play-Offs) will be played in the main ARENA. Both rinks will be AXXESS ICE COURT floors, the official IIHF Championship Floor. All games in the preliminary and Play-Off rounds will be played with 5-minute sudden victory overtime and a penalty shoot-out in case of a tie. The final games will be played with 12- minute sudden victory overtime and a penalty shoot out competition. Tie: After regular time, 5 minutes overtime and if necessary a shoot-out Teams will be awarded points on the following system: Win after regular time = 3 points Win after overtime or shoot-out = 2 points Loss after overtime or shoot-out = 1 point Loss after regular time = 0 points QUALIFICATION GAMES Wednesday, June 10, game 25 and game 26 in main ARENA. The last-placed team of group A and the first-placed team of group C play for the 4 th place in group A and also the last-placed team of group B and the first-placed team of group D play for the 4 th place in group B to participate in the Play-Offs Pool A or B. PLAY-OFF ROUND Second round dates: Thursday, June 11 Friday, June 12. 3 3.0 FEDERATION INFORMATION 3.1 TEAM REGISTRATION Eligible to participate in this IIHF competition are 16 players, 3 goalkeepers and 6 team staff members. Please find enclosed the IIHF Official Forms for your players and team staff members. Included are the Team Entry Form (included the Team Official Registration Form), Player Entry Form and Under-Aged Player Waiver Form. These completed forms are to be submitted at the first Directorate Meeting. Please make photocopies if you require additional copies. It is compulsory that each player participating in this event read, provide the necessary information, sign and date one of the IIHF Player Entry Forms. The National Association must then sign, date and stamp each completed form (typewritten and in Latin letters), guaranteeing that the information provided by the player is true. The completed IIHF Player Entry Forms accompanied by the players national passports are submitted at the first Directorate Meeting of the championship. It is requested that team leaders come to the First Directorate Meeting with photocopies of the passports already made which will help the organization of the meeting. Under the item Previous Participation in IIHF Championships, please provide the year of the player s last participation in an IIHF Championship. 8 3.6 OPENING AND CLOSING CEREMONIES There will be an official opening ceremony on Saturday June 06 prior to the opening game Germany vs. Slovenia at the main Arena. The opening ceremony will feature one player representative from each team. The organizer will provide transportation to and from the arena for all teams. The ceremony will take approximately 30 minutes. Further information concerning additional festivities will be given personally to the team leader. For the closing ceremony it is recommended that each team player wears the same outfit identifying their team and country. Examples include: Team warm-up suit, Team blazers/trousers, Team golf shirts/slacks Remember, it is important that teams follow these instructions so that we leave a professional impression. 3.7 GIFT EXCHANGE It is customary in international competition to exchange gifts between opposing team captains prior to the start of each game. Team captains should arrive with a supply of modest items (i.e. pins, flags) for exchange prior to each game. 3.8 PLAYER INSURANCE We would like to draw the attention of the teams to the fact that they must take care of travel and health insurances. At the first directorate meeting the team leaders have to show the respective insurance policies. 4.0 HOUSING & ACCOMMODATION Federation account payments will be settled in cash or by credit card upon arrival and /or departure on site in Ingolstadt. 4.1 ACCOMMODATION All teams will be staying in hotels in Ingolstadt (Final assignment to be confirmed). All hotels are not more than 15 minutes driving from the Arena. All player rooms are double occupancy with bathroom. Electrical power is 220 volts (team members should bring their own converters). Please note that each participating team will be granted with free hospitality for the duration of the Championship only for the following reduced party of 17 people: 7 double rooms = 14 players 3 single rooms = 3 officials The teams are allowed of course to bring the full team (see 3.1) of 19 players (16 players and 3 goalkeepers) and additional officials; however they will have to pay for those people who are not covered by the World Championship provision. The rate per each extra day / person is 60- per day in double room ( 70- in single room). The organizer is to be informed well in advance (latest March 15) in order to obtain this extra reservation. This will be charged and have to be paid to the organizer on the arrival day. In addition, Federations will pay all costs for any room incidentals and /or other damage. 8

9 4.2 MEAL POLICY Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided daily for the teams only. All meals are buffet style and include non-alcoholic beverages (water and juice). Lunch and dinner will be provided at the Arena in Ingolstadt. The meal schedule will accommodate teams practice and game schedule. The teams should arrange their meal schedule with the management well in advance. 4.3 FEDERATION GUESTS Federation guests are responsible for all of their own expenses. All Federations will kindly be asked to get in contact with the organizer regarding reservation. Guest accommodation is mainly available at Hotel Kult. The team hotels are mainly reserved for teams. Allocation will preferably be made according to the number of team members. Therefore, team guests can only stay in the team hotels if there is availability. Please note the average travel time from the Airport MUC to Ingolstadt is about 60 minutes. Transportation from other airports has to be payed by the Federation. 5.3 LOCAL TRANSPORTATION Local transportation will be provided for team use from June 06 to June 14 only. Local transportation includes: Transportation to and from accommodation to the Arena for practice and games. Any additional local transportation needs are the sole responsibility and expense of the Federations. 11 6.0 ARENA ACCESS, FACILITIES AND SERVICES 6.1 ARENA CHECK-IN Arena check-in is prior to the team s first practice. Each team has to deposit 500- Euro in case of any room incidentals and/or other damage. 6.2 DRESSING ROOMS Each team will be assigned a primary locker room. Locker room assignments will be made according to criteria established by the tournament organizing committee. Teams will be responsible for organizing and maintaining their own dressing rooms. 6.3 LAUNDRY SERVICES Laundry service for game and practice uniforms will be provided for all teams on a daily basis. Every player should have nets to keep his personal laundry separate. Players will be provided with shower towels for practice and games daily. 6.4 MEDICAL SERVICES A medical doctor will be on site for all practices and games. Emergency medical technicians will be on site during all game hours to provide immediate attention to players in case of injury. PR and promotional efforts include activities with the international, national and local media. Teams may be asked to provide co-operation in order to make these promotion and PR efforts a success. These efforts can include: Player appearences for event promotion (specific sites), Player interviews, Photo shootings (all team, groups, singles), Press conferences The Tournament Organizing Committee requests that all team leaders and players support these efforts by providing access to your team for these purposes. Every effort will be made to accommodate the Federations practice and game schedule. 8.0 JERSEYS / ADVERTISING All teams need their own jerseys (home and away). Each team has the possibilty for advertising on the front or the back of the jersey (300 square cm) and on the front of the helmet (80 square cm). For advertising on the sleeves of the jerseys (150 square cm) the team will be charged 500- Euro for this advertising possibility. 14 9.2 LOCAL LAWS Alcoholic Beverages: In Germany persons 18 years and older are allowed to drink alcoholic beverages. All drugs including so-called soft drugs are illegal in Germany. In the arenas and other civil public areas smoking is strictly prohibited. In Germany speed is measured in kilometres per hour. E g (1km = 0,621 miles). The speed city-limit is 50 km/h, on provincial roads 100 km/h and on highways the speed limit is determined by climate conditions however certain highway tracks have an indicated speed limit. 9.3 WEATHER / TEMPERATURE Average temperature for Bavaria in June is 21 degrees Celsius during the day. To convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius: Subtract the Fahrenheit degrees by 32. Multiply that number by five, than divide that number by 9.
