1 Level 1 Officials Certification Test For Questions 1-25, Please Mark Your Answer as TRUE or FALSE 1- HECC approved helmets and facemasks shall be worn by all players and goalkeepers under the age of 18, or by 18 year-olds playing in an 18-and-under age division. 2- A team roster shall be composed of a maximum of sixteen (16) players. 3- Teams must have a minimum of a goalie and four skaters on the rink in order to start the game. 4- A minor penalty shall be imposed on any player who places his stick or any portion of his body in such a manner that causes an opponent to trip and fall. 5- When a misconduct penalty is assessed to any player, including the goalkeeper, the player shall be ruled off the rink for a total of ten (10) minutes. 6- The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a minor penalty to a player guilty of boarding an opponent. 7- An elbowing penalty shall be assessed to any player who uses an extended elbow in any manner against an opponent, regardless of whether an injury occurs or not. 8- An altercation is a situation involving two opposing players, with penalty(ies) assessed to at least one player. 9- A holding penalty shall be assessed to any player that restrains or impedes the progress of an opposing player through use of the arm or hand, whether or not the opposing player is in possession of the puck. 10- A major penalty plus a game misconduct shall be imposed on any player who injures an opponent by hooking. 11- A Game Ejection penalty removes a player from that game and results in an additional one game suspension. 12- Players may be changed from the players bench at any time during play, provided that the player or players leaving the rink shall be within 10 feet (10') of the players bench and out of the play before the change is made. 13- Face-offs can be conducted anywhere on the rink. 14- A legal goal cannot be scored as a result of a deflection off of an Official. 15- A hand pass is legal so long as it is commenced and completed anywhere in the defending zone.
2 16- A minor penalty shall be imposed on a player who attempts to draw a penalty by his actions ( diving / embellishment ), regardless of whether or not a penalty is assessed to his opponent. 17- At the discretion of the referee, a major penalty for roughing may be imposed on any player deemed guilty of unnecessary roughness. 18- The blade of the stick shall not be less than three inches (3") in width, while the curvature of the blade shall not be restricted. 19- A goal will be awarded to the non-offending team when the an attacking player has possession and control of the puck in the attacking zone, without a defending player between himself and the opposing goal, and he is prevented a reasonable scoring opportunity as a result of an infraction committed by the defending team, while the offending team's goalkeeper has been removed from the rink. 20- A Game Ejection penalty may be assessed in addition to any major penalty, in lieu of a Game Misconduct penalty, at the discretion of the referee. 21- If a minor and a major penalty are assessed (non-coincidental) to the same player, the major penalty is served first. 22- The home team will have the last change of players during a stoppage of play. 23- Only the Captain, when invited to do so by the Referee, shall have the privilege of discussing a matter relating to the interpretation of the rules. 24- A goalkeeper may continue to play with the paddle portion of a broken stick until a stoppage of play, or until he has a replacement stick legally handed to him by a teammate. 25- A player who is bleeding or who has visible blood on his equipment or body shall be ruled off the rink at the next stoppage of play.
