8 San Jose Sharks: Media Notes LAST GAMES WCQF GAME 5/3/3 SJ VAN OT With an extra-attacker on the ice, Patrick Marleau scored with 56 seconds left in the third to send the game to overtime. In OT, a two-on-one rush saw Raffi Torres finish off a great pass from Brent Burns to win the game. Joe Thornton got the game s scoring going with a first period goal and Antti Niemi made 9 saves on the night. WCQF GAME 5//3 SJ VAN A two-goal third period led the Sharks past the Canucks in game one of the series. Logan Couture, Dan Boyle and Patrick Marleau all scored goals while Antti Niemi stopped 9 shots on net. TEAM NOTES MARLEAU NOTES Patrick Marleau has at least one point in all seven playoff games in his career against Vancouver (6-3=9). Also, he is second amongst NHL active players in goals (54) and tied for second in game-winning goals (3). Since the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Marleau is tied for fourth in goals (7). ROUNDERS Since Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson took over prior to the season, only the Detroit Red Wings 9 playoff series surpass the Sharks total of 7. San Jose and Detroit are the only two teams in the League to have made the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of the last nine seasons. Also, only Detroit s series wins are more than the nine that both San Jose and Philadelphia have in that time. SEASON IN REVIEW The Sharks had several highlights during the 0-3 regular season including: - One of only three teams to have two seven-game winning streaks on the season, along with Chicago and Pittsburgh - Two regulation losses on home ice was an NHL-best this season. The.8 home points percentage was the second-best in franchise history, second to only the Presidents Trophy team that had an.89 points percentage.

It marks the fifth consecutive seasons that the Sharks have finished in the Top-. - Tied for second in the League with 4 one-goal wins - Finished second in the League in blocked shots and fifth in takeaways - Led the NHL with eight shootout wins this season. AT FULL POWER In the five seasons since Todd McLellan s staff has taken over, the Sharks power play has never finished with a conversion rate below 0.0%. PLAYSTATION SHARKS ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD Matt Irwin has been selected as the 0-3 PlayStation Sharks Rookie of the Year in voting among a panel of Bay Area media. On behalf of Couture, Sony Computer Entertainment will present a check for $,500 to the Sharks Foundation and Irwin will receive a PlayStation 3 (PS3 ) system with a VIP pack of games. SHARKS PLAYSTATION THREE STARS OF THE GAME AWARD Antti Niemi received the 0-3 PlayStation Three Stars of the Game Award. Players received five points for every first star selection after each regular season game. No. stars were given three points and the No. 3 star received one point. The three stars of each regular season game are chosen by the media covering the game, based on his performance that night. The three stars are recorded on the official scoresheet.
