27 What good is the TTA Scholarship Program? Well it helped me become a Doctor Born in Lubbock, Texas and raised in Shallowater, Texas I was graduating High School in My Uncle invited me to try shooting Trap. I really enjoyed the sport and was having a great time. My uncle suggested I apply for the TTA Scholarship. I qualified for, applied for and was awarded the TTA Scholarship. I used those funds to help pay expenses at Texas Tech University. I graduated in the spring of 1998 with a Degree in Biology. I then attended Texas Tech School of Medicine and was hooded in the spring of 2003 becoming David Long M.D. To this day I am appreciative for the financial support afforded me by the TTA Scholarship program. 49 Texas State Teams: TEXAS STATE TEAM REQUIREMENTS 1st Team Captain, plus 4 Members 2nd Team - 5 Members Veteran Team Captain, plus 1 Member Senior Veteran Team Captain, plus 1 Member Lady Team Captain, plus 1 Member Sub-Junior Team Captain, plus 1 Member Junior Team Captain, plus 1 Member To qualify for a State Team, a shooter must comply with the following: 1.) Meet the state residency requirements as defined by the ATA and be in good standing with the ATA and the TTA. 2.) Meet the minimum championship target requirements for the designated teams. Minimum Overall Target Requirements for the Target Year: The annual Texas Trapshooters Association Teams shall be selected from the highest scores based on 1,200 Championship targets shot during the previous target year corresponding to the ATA shoot calendar year. Shooter must shoot a minimum of two (2) Zones and the State shoot to qualify. Minimum target requirements are as follows. Weather conditions may alter the total targets required for a given year. Classification Singles Handicap Doubles 1 st and 2 nd Team Veteran Team Sr. Veteran Team Lady Team Junior and Sub-Junior The required targets shall be shot as follows: High All Around (HAA) Zone Championship Targets shot at 2 of the 5 zone shoots. The 400 HAA Zone Targets consist of yard, 100 handicap and 100 (50 pair) doubles targets. 400 High All Around (HAA) Texas State Shoot Championship Targets. The 400 State targets consist of yard targets, 100 handicap, and 100 (50 pair) doubles. The TTA First Vice-President will use the two highest HAA Zone scores and State Shoot HAA scores to determine team placement. Automatic Application for Team Membership and Awards: The First-Vice President will maintain a Texas State Team Standing report on the TTA website beginning with the first Zone shoot. Scores will be pulled from the Zone & State HAA reports and placed on the Texas State Team Report. Based on scores recorded through the end of the target year the First-Vice President will place the shooters on the team where their score qualifies. Category shooters have the choice to be placed on their Category Team over placement on the Texas State 1 st Team only. The first time you declare a category, in either a zone or state shoot, you are that category for the State Team selection process, regardless of subsequent classifications in the ATA shooting year. Ties among shooters will be resolved using their 400 High All around Texas State Shoot Targets and then, if still tied, the ATA composite year averages (singles, Handicap, doubles) for the target year, if necessary. Awards: All team members will be awarded a plaque for their accomplishments. Rings specially designed for the TTA State Teams will be awarded to the Top five 1 st Team members and Captains of the respective Category teams the 1 st time they are placed on an eligible Team. A shooter will only receive a ring once in their lifetime. Once teams and ring recipients are confirmed, by the First-Vice President, the TTA Board will approve Texas State Team members to be recognized at the next State Shoot. The First-Vice President will maintain a physical list of 1 st Time ring recipients and ensure the list is passed on to the next First-Vice President. 49
