2 Boys Volleyball Alignment Our goal is to have competitively balanced Divisions, while contending with the imbalance in A (14) versus B (22) schools. We also seek to maximize league contests to ensure the assignment of officials, while allowing some opportunity for tournament play. Note: Freeport is requesting to only play a JV Schedule. 2. In order to achieve that goal, we are proposing six Divisions. 3. The Division would be aligned as follows: Division AI and Division BI Upper Ability Division AII and Division BII Middle Ability Division AIII and Division BIII Lower Ability 3. We are proposing crossover play between A and B classifications. This is desirable due to the disparate number of class A schools relative to B schools and our goal to create good competitive matchups. 4. All matches (division and crossover) will count toward playoff qualification. 5. Division A 8 teams will qualify for playoffs. Division B 12 teams will qualify for playoffs. 5. The Division outline and playoffs qualifications are as follows:

Play each team twice in Division 2. Play crossover matches with other Division 3. All 5 Division AI teams qualify for the playoffs and will be seeded 1 5 (out of 8 seeds) 4. All 7 Division BI teams qualify for the playoffs and are seeded 1 7 (due to the fact that there are 12 B seeds) Division AII Division BII Middle ability 5 teams Middle ability 7 teams 8 Division games, 7 crossovers 12 Division games, 5 crossovers w/bii w/aii 1 3 Same as above 4. AII #1 and #2 finisher will be seeded 6&7. #3 finisher qualifies if: AIII champ has <80% wins (AII #3 is final seed) OR Play in game if AIII champ has 80% or greater wins AND AII #3 has 40% or greater wins. 5. BII finishers #1-4 will qualify for the playoffs and be seeded 8, 9, 10&11. #5 finisher will qualify if: BIII #1 has <80% wins (BII #5 is final seed) Play in game if BIII #1 has 80% or greater wins AND BII #5 has 40% or greater wins. Division AIII Lower ability 4 teams 6 Division games, 8 crossovers w/biii Division BIII Lower ability 8 teams 14 Division games, 4 crossovers w/aiii 1 3 Same as above 4. AIII #1 is final seed if 80% or more wins AND AII #3 is <40% wins OR Has play in game vs. AII #3 if AIII #1 is 80% or more wins AND AII is 40% win or more. OR is eliminated if <80% wins (final seed goes to AII #3 regardless of % wins) 5. BIII #1 is final seed if 80% or more wins AND BII #5 is <40% wins OR Has play in game vs. BII #5 if BIII #1 is 80% or more wins AND BII #5 is 40% win or more. OR is eliminated if <80% wins (final seed goes to BII #5 regardless of % wins) NOTE: (All matches, division and crossover, count toward playoff seeding)

4 TIE-BREAKING The TOP finishers in each Division will be determined by: A. W-L% (match) in all matches-all must be played to qualify B. Head to Head Results (match) among tied teams C. Division record D. Head to Head Results (games) among tied teams For seeding position only E. The number of wins against the teams who finished ahead in the Division F. Quality wins against playoff teams, one at a time beginning with the #1seed (ex. The team that beats the higher seed in fewer games gets the high seed) G. Quality losses against playoff teams, one at a time beginning with the #1seed (ex. The team that loses to the higher seed in more games gets the higher seed) H. W-L % (games) all games For last playoff spot only A play-in game will be played at the home school of the team seeded higher based on E-H. If more than 2 teams tied, then matches will be best of 3 at the higher seed based on E-H. NOTE: All matches must be played and will count toward final standing, division championship, and playoff qualification.
