Then this is the contest for you! We are looking for a great design for the 2017 Maricopa County 4-H Horse Finals T-shirt. Get creative & design a logo or saying for both the front & back of the shirt that will be available to all members & their families when they enter the 2017 Horse Finals. 11 2017 MARICOPA COUNTY 4H COUNTY FINALS PROGRAM ART CONTEST RULES 1. Artwork that documents 4-H horse-related activities is desirable. Artwork must include an image of a horse or pony and tell a short story or make a point. It should depict one of the Maricopa County horse disciplines. These include: Western, English, Gymkhana, Roping, Team Penning/Ranch Sorting. Any of the events in these disciplines are acceptable. 2. Artwork MUST be the original work of the entrant. The work must have been completed during the current 4-H year (started no sooner than October 1, 2016). 3. The artwork can be realistic or abstract style. 4. Mediums accepted are: a. Drawing - Pastels/Charcoal/Graphite/Colored Pencil The artwork must be 8 x 10 portrait.. Must be mounted (backed) on mat board which is available at most craft stores (no foam core board) and must be protected with plastic wrap or cellophane to prevent smearing. b. Drawing - Pen/Ink/Markers/Crayon The artwork must be 8 x 10 portrait.. Must be mounted (backed) on mat board which is available at most craft stores (no foam core board) and must be protected with plastic wrap or cellophane to prevent smearing. c. Painting - Oil/Acrylic/Watercolor The artwork must be 8 x 10 portrait. Must be mounted (backed) on mat board which is available at most craft stores (no foam core board). Must be dry. d. Artwork MUST BE protected by simple matting, framing or protective covering such as plastic wrap. b. Artwork MUST be fully DRY and COMPLETE when entered. c. Artwork MUST have a COMPLETED entry form attached to back of artwork with required signatures. (entry forms are available from your county agent) 6. The Maricopa County 4-H Horse Advisory Committee respectfully requires the permission of the artists to reproduce their entries in the County Finals program, in future promotional publications or articles which advertise the winners, promotes future contests or future 4-H equine activities. 7. The Maricopa County 4-H Horse Advisory Committee will make every effort to protect the artwork while on display, however the artwork, (or photo copies of the artwork) may be displayed in a public venue and 4-H members enter their artwork at their own risk. 8. Entries that do not comply with the entry specifications will be disqualified. 9. Entries will be accepted until 6PM on March 20th, Winning artwork will be available for viewing during the 2017 County Finals. Entrants may sell their entries during the County Finals. Non-winning artwork can be picked up during the County Finals. All artwork must be signed for and picked up no later that 1:30 p.m. on Sunday of the Maricopa County Finals 4-H Horse Show. 11. Age divisions of contestants: Junior years old (age as of January 1 st of current year) ; Senior years old (can not be age as of January 1 st of current year). 12. Awards: Danish Ribbons will be awarded for 1 st through 10 th place in each age division. 13. Cover Award: The first place Senior and the first place Junior will be eligible for the cover. The decision on which will be on the cover will be made based on the judging points received. The other division will be placed either on the inside front cover or on the back cover. (Decision on where to place has not yet been made). 14. Judging: Artwork will be judged on the following criteria. Strict adherence to the above rules will also be followed. Quality of Artwork (correct technique used for chosen medium, correct composition, etc.) Attracts and holds attention Originality/Creativity Content of Artwork (appropriate to entry division, clarity of message, value) Presentation of entry (general appearance, artwork is protected by simple matting, correct size, completion of entry form, etc. Artwork is subject to DQ if rules are not adhered to. RIGGS, QUEEN CREEK, AZ ENTRY DEADLINE: MONDAY, MARCH 20, :00 PM ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS Photo Contest OPEN TO ALL MARICOPA COUNTY 4-H HORSE PROJET MEMBERS -The Maricopa County 4-H Equine program invites all 4-H Equine members to submit photos for the 2017 County 4-H Horse Finals. All photo submissions will be on display at the 2017 County Horse Finals in Queen Creek and winners will also be posted on the county 4-H web site. VERY IMPORTANT - Submissions will only be considered if they meet these criteria: 1. Full name and age of person submitting photograph of their taking H Club. 3. Age category Junior (9-13) or Senior (14-19) 4. Complete return address (include UPS delivery and USPS First Class Mail). 5. Telephone number. 6. List of award(s) that each submitted photographs have received (county, state, 4-H or other). The photo does not have to be a previous award winner. 7. The photographer's thoughts about the photograph, in 25 words or less (include title of photograph). 8. Photo submissions should be: 8 x 10 in size (Sorry, No larger or smaller sizes will be accepted) In color or black & white In a horizontal (landscape) format Related to equine. Can be animals, landscape, tack, action, etc. as long as it relates to equine. Photos should be a print developed at a photo processing store address (if applicable). One photo per class per member limit. Entry Classes: 1. Humorous (Poses, Close-ups, Costume, etc.) 2. Landscape (Barn, Pasture, Farm, Ranch, Arena, Truck & Trailer, etc.) 3. Portrait (Horse, Horse & Owner/Rider, Horse & Family, etc.) 4. Action (Horse in action alone or with rider) Recognition will be as follows: 1. Ribbons will be awarded on the Danish System for each entry (blue, red, white or green) 2. Rosettes awarded to each class winner and reserve; Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion; 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd People s Choice winners overall. After final selection of winners, we will notify the winners and ask them for a signed release to use the photo in County or Arizona 4-H productions as applicable. Both the photographer and parent/guardian must sign the release. A copy of the winning photos will be kept at the County 4-H Office and we will return all submissions by late June, Copyright and Content: The Arizona 4-H Youth Development Program respects the rights related to copyright laws and intellectual property. All photos should be based on a 4-H member s original photograph taken by the 4-H member. Use of a photo from other sources/people without permission is not allowed, and will lead to disqualification of the photo and possibility all entries by the 4-H member. The Arizona 4-H Youth Development Program reserves the right to refuse inappropriate or unsuitable entries. Model and Property Releases: Any 4-H member submitting a photograph acknowledges that they have sufficient permission of any recognizable locations or people appearing in their photograph(s). This permission is hereby granted to both the photographer and the Arizona 4-H Youth Development Program to publish and use as needed. Documentation should be retained by the 4-H member and will be requested by the Arizona 4-H Youth Development Program if needed. Display and Future Rights/Use Rights: By submitting an entry to the contest, the 4-H member grants permission to the Arizona 4-H Youth Development Program and the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, and any other public or private agency authorized by the Arizona 4-H Youth Development Program, the use, and rights associated to the use of the photographic likeness, in promotional publications, and other media, without compensation. Certain photos maybe used for 4-H program and marketing uses.

17 2017 COUNTY HORSE FINALS SPONSORSHIP REQUIREMENTS Every year, we have the same needs, we need sponsors and donors for our County Finals Horse Show. There are over 90 classes, 27 High Point and Reserve High Point ribbons & awards, and 9 Ranch Sorting awards offered at the Finals. WE NEED EACH & EVERY CLUB to step into the arena and help to secure Sponsors to meet our County Horse Finals needs! CLUB REQUIREMENTS: ü Minimum of $50.00 per member participating in County 4- H Horse Finals this year. It is up to each Club to determine HOW to achieve this goal. We believe this will help to spread the responsibility among all members who are recipients of the tremendous efforts made to make the 2017 County 4- H Horse Finals a success! ü Minimum of ONE HIGH QUALITY ITEM for the Scholarship Fund Raffle/Silent Auction. This is held in conjunction with the 3- day County Finals event and the item can be horse or non- horse related. We give out over $2000 in scholarships annually and want to increase this amount. This is our primary fundraiser for our Scholarship Fund so help us reach our goal! We have attached a flyer/application to be used when you solicit donations, sponsorships, etc. This flyer/application must be submitted with EVERY SPONSORSHIP/DONATION including the minimum Club Requirements. Please feel free to make as many copies as you wish or post on FaceBook or via to friends and family or other potential sponsors. We are counting on each and every club to help this year! The overall cost of putting on the County Horse Finals is enormous. We may have as many as 1,000 class awards and prizes to purchase for the entire Finals, so please solicit donations/sponsorships for not only your disciplines but for all of the disciplines offered by the 4- H Horse Project: Western, English, Roping, Gymkhana, and Ranch Sorting. Our goal is to keep registration fees to a minimum so all who qualify can participate, but we must increase our sponsorships and donations in order to meet this goal! All sponsorships, donations, and ads must be submitted to the 4-H County Extension Office or to the 2017 County Horse Finals Sponsorship Coordinator (Nancy Nesky, Buena Vista Mavericks) NO LATER THAN 5pm on Monday, March 18, 2017 OR BRING TO March 18 th HAC Meeting at 6:30pm at County Extension Office, in order to be included in the Premium (Program) Book and/or to have the company s logo included on the T-Shirt.
