3 Trail Blazer The Voice of the Canadian Texas Longhorn Association Presidents Message Clinton Bezan Chair I would like to welcome everyone to the third annual CTLA Spring Sale and Jackpot. The consignors have assembled a fine set of cattle for your appraisal. The bloodlines represented today offer some of the most up to date genetics in the industry. Whether they are bred for color, horn, or beef production, each has a role to play in a dynamic and growing industry. Today s heifer jackpot marks the beginning of the second Triple Crown Futurity. s will accumulate points in Saskatoon, the CTLA National Show in Red Deer in July and the Horn Showcase in Ponoka in October. The heifer with the most points in the series will be awarded the Triple Crown. This year we have added a two year old class that is open to heifers that were shown as yearlings last year. Best of luck to all of the exhibitors. I am sure it will prove to be an enjoyable and suspenseful series in The Canadian Texas Longhorn Association board of directors are hard- working, forward thinking individuals who dedicate long hours and tremendous energy to provide our membership with venues to promote their breeding programs and showcase their Longhorns. It is with great pride that I, on their behalf, welcome everyone to enjoy our hospitality, the heifer jackpot show and the sale. The CTLA will hold their annual general meeting at 10:00 am Sat. All members are welcome to attend. After a successful year that saw the CTLA grow and strong demand for Texas Longhorns translated into new members and excellent sale prices, it is time once again to plan for the coming 12 months, elect new board members to replace those whose terms that are complete and share our financial information with our membership. You will find the AGM Agenda in this catalog. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the board of directors for their hard work, challenging ideas and the progress they have brought to our association. It has been a pleasure to serve with all of you.
