2 Dear Charolais Friends: Dear Charolais Friends: Welcome to our first ever female sale. As many of you know, I grew up around white cattle. My grandfather purchased his first Charolais in I had always had commercial cows with Charolais influence, but grew to miss the purebreds. In 2004, I purchased my first purebred Charolais cows. Wow how time flies. Seven years and four bull sales later, we are ready to offer some elite females. I have had a lot of help from many folks in the Charolais breed. The biggest influence has come from my great friend, Brent Thiel and Lindskov-Thiel genetics. Chris and I have worked hard to develop functional, breed-leading genetics with eye appeal that are easy fleshing and work on tough Missouri fescue. Please join us for some fun on December 3rd. Derry For the past several years Derry & Mary Wright have shared with all of us our love affair with this great white breed. They have been building a program, and it has become a successful program accepted across the United States as a source of top-end genetics. In 2009 the Wright Charolais Bull Sale averaged $2,577 on 44 bulls and was the #26 ranked bull sale of the Charolais breed. In 2010, the sale jumped to an average of $3,659 on 48 bulls and was the #6 ranked bull sale. This past March their sale saw 77 bulls go through the ring for an average of $4,440 and has yet to be ranked by the association. That is making a move! This breeding program has been anchored by the highly proven genetics of the Lindskov-Thiel Ranch in South Dakota. As Derry put his herd together over the past several years, four years of heifer purchases from that herd became the nucleus of this set of cows, along with special selections from the top of many sales across the United States. He also went to the L-T Ranch and made choices of herd sires from the #1-ranked bull sale of our breed as well as purchasing interests in many of the greatest donor dams to come from that program. In all, this has proven to be a superior calculated building of a breeding program that has resulted in envious steps forward. As the cow herd numbers have improved over the years, it has now become easier for Wright Charolais to share the genetics that have taken them to this point of success. Those of you who have toured through the herd with Derry or his manager, Chris Peuster, this past year realize how true this is.
