3 Welcome Cattlemen, to our 21st Annual Bull Sale! In the past few months we have seen record prices for feeder and fat cattle and let's hope it continues for several more years! The moisture complex is sure a lot brighter than it was last year at this time. Unfortunately, the October moisture (10+ inches here) came at a heavy toll for some of our friends and neighbors. We were lucky here and had no storm loss until a week later when we lost six cows and calves from flooding in Box Elder Creek. Our hearts go out to those affected and are donating 1% of our bull sale proceeds to the Rancher Relief Fund. We are working hard to make continued improvements in our herd, and in the last two years have added the BHSS Grand Champion bulls from 2012 and In addition, this year we purchased the BHSS Reserve Grand Champion bull and also an exciting low BW bull that we are going to try on our purebred heifers "MC LM All In" was also purchased at this years' Stock Show and combines a 58 lb. BW with an 835 lb. WW and I'm very excited to see the results in our herd next year. Because of the extremely high cost, we did not creep feed this year- so the weaning weights are just Momma cow and not much grass. We got a little more rain here than in 2012 but from mid-june to mid-august we didn't get a drop! The bull calves still averaged 654lbs actual weight off the cow three weeks after the storm so I think for the conditions they did pretty darn good! Gains have been outstanding! Some of these bulls are gaining 5 lbs. a day at mid-test and their feed conversion is incredible all things that will make the buyers of your feeder cattle sired by Cheyenne Charolais bulls smile. I think you will find the quality and disposition of these bulls to be excellent as well. Rigid culling the last 10 years of cows for temperament has really paid dividends. Once again we will have some outstanding bulls from our partner Ted Morgan of Aurora, CO. His cows are run here with mine year-round and any guarantees will be handled by me the same as if they were my own. Our producers of the year for 2014 are Bob and Tim Peppel of Peppel Farms in St. Charles, SD. They have purchased bulls from us since the mid-2000's and raise and background an outstanding set of Char-cross calves. They will receive a $2000 credit at this year's sale or future sale.
