1 SzyzygyS or Vioin, Violoncello & Piano Duration Circa 12 mins Eoin Mulvany 2014
2 Perormance directions: Szyzygy reers to an alignment o lanetary bodies. This work, or Piano, Violin, and 'Cello, imagines this alignment as occurring between the Sun (reresented by the Piano), the Earth (by the 'Cello), and the Moon (by the Violin). It is structured in twelve 'scenes' as an allusion to the sidereal months. Where ossible, an otimum staging coniguration would see the Violin and the 'Cello erorm acing the Piano (with oen lid) so as to maintain a resonant accoustic soundscae through symathetic resonance. Throughout, the Piano is required to maximise the use o the edal For the Violin and the 'Cello, the ollowing abreviations are used in this score to denote extended or secial techniques MSP: Molto sul onticello; use the bow at, or very near the bridge SP: Sul onticello; lay with bow towards the bridge MST: Molto sul tastiero; use the bow on the ingerboard ST: Sul tastiero; use the bow towards the ingerboard PO: Position ordinaire; use the bow normally CL/HH: Col Legno Tratto/hal hair; use the bow on its side with hal hair and hal wood + : Let hand izzicato Harmonics are either oen string or touch 4th. They are notated with diamond noteheads. W.Vib: Wide Vibrato; a slow roll o the inger to vary the itch Ord.: Ordinarily; resume ordinary method o laying
