2 World Ranking Event The sprint at Kingdom Valley Nordic will be an IOF World Ranking Event for the M/F 21 classes. All competitors in these classes will be entered into the WRE and be required to follow all IOF rules. Kingdom Valley Nordic is entirely embargoed until the day of the event. Other venues are open on groomed main trails until the day before the events. Recent logging and trail construction has opened the layout of the venue. Advanced courses will take advantage of the hillside topography, with maximum elevation difference of 90 meters. Grafton Ponds: 783 Townshend Road, Grafton, VT Grafton Ponds is a commercial xc area with wide ski trails featuring a mix of forested hillside and open fields. The maximum elevation difference is 110 meters. Craftsbury Outdoor Center: Lost Nation Rd, Craftsbury Common, VT Craftsbury Outdoor Center is a large non-profit xc ski area in Vermont s Northeast Kingdom with 105 km of trails; maximum elevation difference is 65 meters. Registration Registration will be open each morning for day-of entries and changes. Online registration is available at or via the meet website. Payment is by cash or check only. Waviers and checks can be mailed to Alex Jospe, or brought to the meet site. Payment for the race at Craftsbury should be made to GMOC, payment for the sprint and middle should be made to Orienteering USA, with Ski-O Team in the memo. At Grafton Ponds and Craftsbury Outdoor Center, competitors will be required to buy a trail pass at the venue.

4 Start Procedure There will be a -2 min callup line. You may not enter the start area more than 2 min before your start. At the start line, there will be a table with your map face down on it. At -15 sec, you will get a beep from the start clock and can take your map. Starting at -3 sec, there will be a short beep every second, and then a long beep at 0 seconds. You may only start on the long beep. If you miss your start, your time will still be counted from your assigned start time. You will not be able to start until the next free start slot. For WRE classes, there will be no start box. Your start time is determined by the clock. For all other classes, there are no assigned start times, and competitors will use a punching start. Finish Procedure There will be two finish lanes starting 10m from the finish line. The finish line will be marked in the snow as a colored line. You may not change lanes unless you are overtaking a skier. The finish will be a punching finish. There will be one finish box per lane. After finishing, download immediately before exiting the finish area. Directions Kingdom Valley Nordic: 2066 Route 11, Chester, VT From North 91 Take the Rockingham exit (6) onto route 103. Follow 103 into Chester and then turn right onto route 11. The ski area is 2 miles on your right. From South 91 Take the Springfield exit (7) onto route 11. Go 8 miles, the ski area is on your left. If you cross the railroad tracks, you have gone too far. From West Take route 11 into chester, and follow north out of town. The ski area is 2 miles from the 11/103 split on your right. Grafton Ponds: 783 Townshend Road, Grafton, VT From Londonderry, VT and west: Follow Rte 11 east to Chester. Turn south on Rte 35 (by the True Value hardware store) and follow to Grafton. Turn right and then left in front of the Grafton Inn. Follow Townshend Road 3/4 mile out to the ski area. From Bellows Falls, VT and east: Follow Rte 121 west through Saxtons River into Grafton. Turn left in front of the Grafton Inn. Follow Townshend Road 3/4 mile out to the ski area. From Brattleboro, VT and south: Follow Rte 30 north to Townshend. Turn north (right) on Rte 35 and follow signs to Grafton. Turn left toward Grafton at Y about 3 miles after turning onto Rte. 35. Ski area on right after another 6 miles. From Springfield, VT and north: Follow Rte 11 to Chester. Follow directions from Chester above.

Pass through Craftsbury Village, go up a hill, through the village of Craftsbury Common (a collection of white houses at the top of the hill). Sterling College is on your left in the common, the Post Office and Craftsbury Academy are on your right. Continue out of town approximately 3/4 mile past the Common, and look for a yellow curve sign. As the sign indicates, the pavement curves to the left, you want to bear right off the pavement and follow the Craftsbury Outdoor Center signs (staying on Mill Village Road). Continue winding on the dirt road for just under 1.25 miles and turn right onto Lost Nation Road. The Outdoor Center s office is located approximately 0.6 miles on the left. You will see a large Craftsbury Outdoor Center sign. The office is in the white farmhouse. From the North: From Route 14, look for a Craftsbury Outdoor Center sign on the right followed by a green Craftsbury state sign on the left. (North Craftsbury Road). Turn left and follow the pavement to the top of the hill about 1.4 miles. Look for a Craftsbury Outdoor Center sign and turn left onto the dirt road, immediately followed by a right onto Mill Village Road. Continue on the dirt road about 1.25 miles to Lost Nation Road (watch for the Craftsbury Outdoor Center sign) and turn right. The Outdoor Center s office is located approximately 0.6 miles on the left. You will see a large Craftsbury Outdoor Center sign. The office is in the white farmhouse. Arena Food At Kingdom Valley Nordic on Saturday, there will be pulled pork sandwiches and chips available. There will be a donation bucket to the US Ski-O Team on the lunch table.
