3 Photos The Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon with Ivy Investments will continue to have free, downloadable and searchable high-definition photos available for all race participants a few days after the event. We are proud to offer free photos to all the participants and hope you find several to download, share and enjoy. Please allow the photographers the chance to sort, edit and upload the thousands of photos for you. Bib Timing The Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon with Ivy Investments will utilize MyLaps BIBTAG technology for This system does not use a conventional timing chip, but rather an electronic reader strip mounted to the back side of the participants bib. You will notice a metallic strip, surrounded by a foam pad. The foam pad acts as a necessary insulator between the runner and the electronic reader. Be sure to wear the bib number visibly on the chest or front of pants. Do not fold or crumple your bib number or tag and be sure to use a pin for each corner of the bib number. The BIBTAG system cannot be altered in any way prior to or during the event. Please DO NOT pierce the timing chip itself or try to remove it! The tags do not have to be collected after the race so each participant can keep the bib with the tag as a souvenir. Finisher Items In 2016, every participant of the Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon with Ivy Investments will receive a great participant hoodie, post-race food and beer, and photos. In addition, every finisher will receive an item to celebrate and commemorate their accomplishment. Full marathon finishers receive a 4 ¼ medal, half marathon finishers receive a 3 ¼ medal and 5K participants receive a 2 ½ medal. Team Relay participants will receive an official Relay Finisher baton! Congratulations to all participants on joining the #RunKCM family. 4 Health & Fitness Expo/ Packet Pickup Merchandise Location Crown Center Exhibit Hall (attached to Sheraton Crown Center) 2323 McGee Street Kansas City, Missouri Hours of Operation Thursday, October 13 from 3-8 p.m. Friday, October 14 from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. THERE WILL BE NO RACE DAY PACKET PICKUP Registration Policy Packet pickup will take place at the Health & Fitness Expo which is free and open to the public. It will feature a variety of vendors and companies both local and national. Click here for a full list of vendors Packet pickup will be organized by bib number. Participants bib number will be available via the bib receipt printers which will be onsite at the entrance of the Expo Hall. This number is different from the confirmation number you received after registering. Parking is availble in the Sheraton Crown Center Garage. Get your parking validated for up to 3 hours at the Kansas City Sports Commission Booth located near the entrance of the expo hall. NEW in Participants are able to order and receive their Kansas City Marathon merchandise and custom apparel BEFORE race weekend. Click here to order yours today! All orders must be completed online prior to Sunday, October 9 to receive prior to race weekend. Registration fees are non-refundable and entries cannot be transferred to another year. The 2016 Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon with Ivy Investments does not condone nor approve purchasing or selling registrations. In order to protect all participants and insure a safe event, each individual participating in this event MUST be officially registered under their own name and information. Failure to do so will void the registration and prohibit participation. Ultramax will also be printing onsite during the Health & Fitness Expo and on race day at the Finish Line Festival presented by BNY Melon to fulfill all your apparel and merchandise needs. 5 Course- -Map, Notes, Time Limit, Relay & Spectator Information *Course is subject to change pg. 8 Course Time Limit There is a 6 hour time limit that the course is closed to traffic and the aid stations are available. However, the Kansas City Police Department may open sections of the course to let vehicles cross when there are large gaps in the participants and it is deemed safe. Participants must maintain at least a 14 minute per mile pace to make the course deadline. Participants in the marathon that do not maintain the 14 minute pace per mile will be asked to turn onto the half marathon course at the course split. This is to ensure the safety of all our participants on race day. Course Notes Mile Markers Mile markers will be positioned every mile on each of the courses. In addition, there will be signage at the course splits for the 5K and half marathon participants. The marathon and half marathon share the first 7 miles of the course together before splitting. Please pay close attention when coming up to a split to ensure you stay on the correct course. KC Water KC Water Services is the official provider of water for the Kansas City Marathon. KC Water Services is proud to provide the highest-quality water services to support the health and well-being of our community. Aid Stations Aid Stations will be placed approximately miles apart throughout the course. Each Aid Station will have a restroom, water, Gatorade and medical kits available. NOTE: No oral medication will be available on the course. Aid Stations WILL NOT have Tylenol, Advil, allergy medicine, etc. Restrooms Restrooms will be available at each of the aid stations along the course as well as at the Finish Line Festival presented by BNY Mellon. pg. 9

Exchange points are located near parking lots with easy access to and from the start/finish area. In addition to the relay exchange points, there will be seven specific spectator cheering points along the course. Family and friends are encouraged to go to these points along the course and cheer all the participants as they make their way to the finish. Spectator Points 1. Country Club Plaza 2. Troost Park (31st & Troost) Pacers Information -presented by Missouri Lottery Pacers Information presented by Missouri Lottery There will be half marathon pacers for finishing times of 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:05, 2:10, 2:15, 2:20, 2:25, 2:30, 2:35, 2:40, 2:45, 2:50, 2:55, 3:00, 3:15 and 3:30. There will be marathon pacers for finishing times of 3:15, 3:30, 3:40, 3:50, 4:00, 4:10, 4:20, 4:30, 4:40, 4:50, 5:00, 5:15, 5:30 and 5:45. The pacers will be from the SmartPace Team. The SmartPace Team is a collection of all stars with great running backgrounds and positive personalities. Combine that with an intelligent game plan and you have the formula for a great race! There will be an opportunity to meet the pacers at the pacer booth at the expo as well as to pick up a complimentary pace band. On race morning they ll be easy to spot with their pace signs and bright purple shirts. We encourage you to take advantage of this major perk! 7 Race Day Information Parking Race day parking is located south of the finish line area along 27th Street between Gillham Road and Grand Boulevard, just past the Crown Center Parking Garages. There are five lots available free of charge for participants and guests. Parking lots will be available on a first-come, first served basis. Gear Check / Lost and Found KC Streetcar Looking for alternative parking options? Ride the KC Streetcar straight to the start line! The streetcar will begin running at 6:00 AM on the morning of the race and offers more than 12,000 publicly accessible off-street parking spaces within one block of the streetcar route. Hop on at any stop and ride the streetcar to the Union Station stop, just one block from the start line. Visit kcstreetcar.org for more information. Please plan on allowing up to 15 minutes when riding the Streetcar, as it will make stops when necessary. NOTE: Please allow yourself at least minutes before start time (7 a.m.) to park, walk to the start, use the restroom, warm up and check gear on race morning. Race Number Please place your race number so it is visible from the front. Race numbers may be attached to your shirt, the top of your shorts or a race belt. Remember, if you plan on taking off layers during the race, pin your number to the bottom layer. Your race number MUST be visible when you cross the finish line. Headphones The use of headphones is strongly discouraged. While the Kansas City Sports Commission & Foundation along with the Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon with Ivy Investments strongly discourages the use of headphones for safety purposes, there is not a ban on wearing such devices. Many runners choose not to wear headphones and instead listen to the entertainment and the crowd cheering them along the route to the finish line. Staging and Start Lines Marathon, half marathon and team relay participants are to line up based on your expected pace time with faster athletes at the front. There will be signage to help you find your place at the start line. No spectators are allowed in the fenced start area. Only registered athletes are permitted. 5K participants are to line up BEHIND marathon, half marathon and team relay participants. The 5K race will start at approximately 7:30 a.m. Medical Support A large staffed medical tent will be stationed near the finish line. The medical staff has the right to withdraw any athlete from the event who appears in distress or who may be at risk should he or she continue on the course. In addition, aid stations will be available throughout the course with restrooms, water, Gatorade and medical kits available. Gear Check Gear Check will be located in Washington Square Park near Pershing Road. Official gear check bags for 2016 will be handed out at the Health & Fitness Expo. Each participant is only allowed one bag for their gear. To ensure the safety and security of all participants and guests on race day, only official Gear Check bags will be accepted at the Gear Check tent on race day. No exceptions. To check your gear, place all items inside the clear bag and secure your gear check tag, included on your bib, to the top of the bag using the twist tie. Then drop your bag at the appropriate section of gear check. Each event will have its own section marked by colored signage. NOTE: Each participant is allowed ONE gear check bag each. Please have your personal bib number tag attached to your bag upon check in race morning. NOTE about START CHUTE: Any and ALL clothing discarded and left within the race chute will be collected after the start and placed into donation bags for pick up. Items WILL NOT be available for pick up when you finish. Any items you wish to have back at the conclusion of your race are to be placed into your gear check bag and checked prior to the race start. Lost and Found Any items found within the start/finish area will be returned to the Information tent at the Finish Line Festival presented by BNY Mellon. Any items found that are not claimed on race day or that are found out along the course will be at the Kansas City Sports Commission & Foundation offices the week following. Please contact@sportkc.org to claim any lost and found items. pg. 12 NOTE: We will take the utmost care with all items left at the gear check area, but please DO NOT put valuables or expensive items like cameras, car/house keys, cell phones, money, GPS devices, etc. in the gear check bags. Run With It A rising powerhouse pop-rock trio. Run With It prides themselves on their professionalism, great stage shoes and high-energy, catchy chorus-driven songs you can t help but sing and dance to. Ironband Comprised of amateur endurance athletes, runners, triathletes, cyclists, adventure racers, and musicians, Ironband s live shows are packed with originals and rocking cover tunes that will have you entertained. The Ragged Few A Kansas City band that specilizes in Folk and Americana based Rock. The Ragged Few write all of their own tunes and hope that the KC Greater Area loves them as much as they love the city. pg. 15

9 Food & Beer The 2016 Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon with Ivy Investments will have participant food provided by Seasons 52, a celebration of what s good now with seasonally inspired dishes containing ingredients at the peak of their freshness. They provide the best of each season, straight to your table. Thank you to Central States Beverage! Central States Beverage will be providing all the participants of the 2016 Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon with Ivy Investments a free beer after they finish the race. Central States Beverage is located right here in Kansas City, where they provide and distribute several product lines in both Kansas and Missouri with case volume in excess of 5 million per year. Each participant (21 years of age and older) will receive a complimentary beer donated by Central States Beverage. Be sure to have your ID as everyone will be carded! I-35 Challenge: Kansas City Results & Awards Results will be available onsite at the Results Tent located next to merchandise near the start/ finish line. Each participant can have their results printed onsite to take home that day! NOTE: There will be NO Awards Ceremony on Race Day, but be sure to stick around and enjoy all the festivities available at the Finish Line Festival presented by BNY Mellon. Results will not be finalized until Wednesday, October 19. This is to ensure accurate information and placement for all participants prior to awards being distributed. 10 Volunteers Events like this could not take place without the support of great volunteers! Other Event Information More than 1,500 volunteers are needed to make the Kansas City Marathon a success! Please make sure to thank all the vital volunteers you see and encounter race weekend. From packet pickup, aid stations, course monitors, green team and food, all volunteers are crucial to making this event happen. As a way to help give back to the city, the Kansas City Marathon enlists the help of local groups, organizations and clubs to help keep the 26.2 mile course safe. By volunteering, more than 20 nonprofit groups will receive a donation to help support their cause. Thank a Volunteer Again this year, thank a volunteer!
