3 Evergreen Endurance 1.1. Welcome to Evergreen Endurance Welcome to Evergreen Endurance, the fresh green face of endurance racing. Our long-term aim is to bring to endurance sport 3 concepts that are important to us athletes.. Environmental responsibility: in the form of reduced carbon footprints, carbon offsetting, fundraising, monitoring and education. Furthermore we wish to share with our athletes the most beautiful terrain our planet has on offer to promote the environment and amaze competitors in equal measure. Finally we aim to bring back to our local community thus ensuring true sports event responsibility. ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSABILITY GIVING BACK NATURAL BEAUTY So for the endurance athlete Evergreen means quality responsible events which take athletes on a unique and beautiful journey whilst making every effort to offset the impact we have. 2

5 Your playground 2.1. Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Chamonix - Mont Blanc, just 50 minutes drive from Geneva, is a bustling alpine town surrounded by truly breath-taking scenery and famed for being the mountaineering capital of the world. Situated in the Haute-Savoie region of France, Chamonix is bordered by Switzerland and Italy and dominated by the dramatic Aiguilles de Chamonix mountain chain which peaks at the top of Mont Blanc (4810m) - the roof of Western Europe. In the summer Chamonix becomes a lush green valley, with natural terrain as rugged as it is enchanting. When the snow recedes, footpaths appear framed with alpine plants and flowers; the sun glances off the deep azure blues of the lakes and rivers, and picks out the gleaming white peaks along the Mont Blanc range. The Evergreen Endurance team wishes to showcase this perfect backdrop and stunning alpine environment with creative and beautiful 58, 118 and 228 triathlon courses. 4

10 Race rules 4.1. Respect We are all very fortunate to be part of this adventure, we thus ask you to be respectful throughout this journey. We thank you for respecting our dear Evergreen Endurance volunteers and locals who welcome you. Do not forget to stay environmentally friendly. All the people involved in organizing worked very hard to bring to you the best experience possible, we ask you to follow these rules for your safety Rules Evergreen 58/118/228, Evergreen 118/228 relays are governed by the rules of the French Triathlon Federation. For more info, visit: In addition to the racing rules of FFTri, Evergreen Endurance has defined a set of additional rules that must be adhered to throughout the course. Evergreen Endurance racing rules are available for download on our website (Evergreen Endurance Rules) 4.3. Compulsory equipment and special needs During the run part of the race, competitors are required to wear the bib given by the organizers. This bib can in no case be folded or obscured wholely or partly. It must be placed in front during the run and remain visible. Mandatory equipment for the run: Note: in the interest of safety, the organizer may conduct a verification of the required equipment at any time during the race. Failure to comply or provide the equipment detailed below will result in disqualification of the athlete. Mobile phone in working condition with a subscription for making or receiving calls (must have enough power to last until the end of the competition). Contact numbers in the case of an emergency : HQ : or or 112 in extreme cases A lamp in good working condition and spare batteries or a second lamp in working order. Blanket 1.40m x 2m minimum 9

Warm spare clothes in case of cold and rainy weather or in case of injury. Sun cream, Vaseline or anti warming cream 4.4. Time Barriers Because of the difficulty of the race as well as the mountainous environment, time restrictions will be applied. Time barrier Evergreen h15 thus midnight! If an athlete does not respect these time barriers (total or intermediate), volunteers following the last athlete will redirect you to the finish line by the most direct route and a DNF (did not finish) will unfortunately be issued. 10
12 4.5. Weather and safety The average temperature expected on race day should be around 23 C. However temperatures can reach 30 C but also decrease significantly due to the mountain environment (rain, snow, fog). We recommend you monitor the weather in the days before the event to make sure you're dressed/equipped properly for racing conditions. A race committee will meet the day before the race to decide whether the official route or the substitute routes should be used. Using a substitute route (either to shorten the course or decrease the altitude) will depend on weather conditions. All three races will be covered by a full medical team provided by MOUNTAINS MEDICS and composed of doctors, nurses, lifesavers and lifeguards as well as vehicles and medical equipment. Referees will be provided by the French Triathlon Federation (FFTri) and Evergreen Endurance will use one hundred and fifty volunteers. If you decide to give up before or during the race (at any time after race briefing), it is mandatory to immediately inform the race officials by calling one of the race directors at +33 (0) (Carlton) or +33 (0) (Bruno). If you are unable to join one of the numbers above, send an SMS to one of these numbers and/or inform a member of the Evergreen Endurance team at aid stations or security posts etc... 13 4.6. Environmental rules Evergreen Endurance places responsability and sustainability on the same level as the sporting challenge itself! Our motto is Hammer the race, leave no trace! A permanent reflection of the organization in the implementation of actions to minimize the impact of the event on our environment! Some sustainable actions for our environment: Reusable glasses on the entire route = less waste, 1 free cup for athletes, lending of 2100 cups from the SITOM! Local water stored in jerry cans = 0 plastic bottles on the event! Toilets on course and at the finish = reduction of water consumption and no use of chemicals (Terra Matter Development)! TOLERANCE 0 WASTE Any athletes caught littering voluntarily will be immediately disqualified Observe all signs and environmental signage placed in the "sensitive" sectors of the environment. We strive to achieve a good signage for safety but also to avoid impacting our natural environment and accentuate erosion. PLEASE DO NOT CUT THE TRAILS! A CUP will be provided by the organization at registration This cup is MANDATORY on the running course to be served the refreshments! Environmental ambassadors A team of volunteers is specifically earmarked for the environment: Raising awareness of the exceptional natural heritage of our valleys Run the run course before and after the runners = identify potential impacts on the natural environment & pick up litter Help the organization and runners in waste management to stop recycling errors = better waste valuation External environmental Audit An environmental audit will be conducted during the event by Atemia.
