Venue: Field Sports Building Track & Field Online NIUHuskies.com Facebook.com/NIUxctrack Twitter.com/NIUXCTrack On the Docket Huskies at Ball State Quadrangular This Week The Huskie track & field team closes out their indoor regular season Friday, Feb. 17, when they head to Muncie, Ind., for the Ball State Quadrangular. The meet will feature NIU, Ball State, Western Michigan and Miami (Ohio) in a pre-mac Championships tune-up. The meet gets underway at 4 p.m. CT with the field events, while running events start around 6:15 p.m. The meet will be scored on a scale, but only two athletes from each school may score in a single event. Last Time Out The Huskie track & field team continued their impressive season Feb at the Iowa State Classic, grabbing one event title and nine top ten finishes alongside some of the nation s best programs. In addition to the numerous personal bests set, two school records were broken and a third was tied. Jenner Sio broke her own mark in the triple jump with a mark and the 4x400 relay team of Chanel Kellyman, Jenelle McCalla, Julianne Cronin and Rebecca Cronin topped the old NIU record by nearly two seconds, clocking in at 3: Also, Kellyman tied Rasheta Butler s 200 meter record with a run. Keep An Eye On... Megan Gregory (RS Senior - Chicago, Ill.): A top performer for multiple seasons at NIU, Megan Gregory came through with an impressive third place finish in the 60 hurdles at the Iowa State Classic with a 8.70 clip. As the school record-holder in the event, there is no reason to think that this senior can t break her own record in the event. After all, she recorded four of her top five times of the season in the last three meets NIU has competed in.

3 Paw Prints For the Record The indoor season has been a record-setting one to say the least for NIU. With two meets remaining and two more possibly after that, the Huskies have broken or tied seven different school records this year. Below is a breakdown of the new NIU indoor bests: - 60 meters: Janay Mitchell, meters: Chanel Kellyman, 24.52* meters: Rasheta Butler, meters: Jamie Burr, 2: x200 Relay: Kellyman, Mitchell, Frye, Butler; 1: x400 Relay: Kellyman, McCalla, J. Cronin, R. Cronin; 3: Triple Jump: Jenner Sio, *Mark tied school record Kellyman Cruises at Iowa State Chanel Kellyman ran a career-best meet over the weekend, setting two school records and two personal bests at the Iowa State Classic. The senior began the meet with a 7.60 clip in the 60 meters prelims to eclipse her PR and move into second place in NIU history in the event. Later that afternoon, Kellyman tied the NIU school record in the 200 meters with a time of to win the unseeded round of the event. On Saturday, Kellyman served as the opening leg of the 4x400 relay team that shattered the school record in the event, crossing the finish line in 3:47.74 to top the old standard by nearly two seconds. NIU in the MAC Rankings With the MAC Indoor Championships just over a week away, the Huskies currently have eight athletes in the top five of their respective events. Among those rankings, NIU has two top five runners each in the 60 meters and 60 hurdles. Janay Mitchell is second and Chanel Kellyman is tied for fifth in the 60 meters, while Megan Gregory and Roneisha Frye are fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 60 hurdles. Additionally, Courtney Oldenburg is second in the mile, Juliane Totzke is third in the 3000 meters, Jenner Sio is fourth in the triple jump and the 4x400 relay team sits in fifth. Huskies in the National and Regional Rankings Two Huskies - Janay Mitchell and Jenner Sio - still sit among the nation s top 100 and the region s top eight in their respective events. Sio, a senior from Rockford, Ill., is ranked fifth in the Midwest Region and 41st nationally in the triple jump, while Mitchell is eighth in the Midwest and 97th in the nation in the 60 meters. As a team, the Huskies sit in the No. 17 spot in the Midwest Region, jumping Saint Louis in the regional poll. Next Up... Northern Illinois heads to Akron, Ohio, for the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championship Feb inside the Stile Field House. Competition gets underway at 11 a.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
