2 Apollo Unplugged We are delighted to invite you aboard our latest Dazcat 1495 Apollo at the Portsmouth Multihull show. Apollo is the second Dazcat 1495 launched from the Multihull Centre in Millbrook, Cornwall. This follows Hissy Fit who was runner up in the recent European Yacht of the Year Awards 2016 and MOCRA national champion in Using the latest in design and construction technology Apollo has been built to an incredibly high specification using the best equipment on the market. She has a 19m carbon mast built by Axxon and is supported by carbon rigging from Smartrigging in the Netherlands which all in all only weighs 160kg. Connected to this is a

3 Deck gear is from Harken, Antal, Lewmar and Spinlock and all halyards and reef lines are Dyneema for increased strength and wear and tear. The boat also has a top down code 0 furler set up on halyard lock. The saloon has an electric table, which converts to a spare double berth with pop-up TV. The entertainment system is positioned so it can be seen from the galley and saloon seating, or in bed. The lithium ion node based electrical system has been developed in-house with Mastervolt and also includes a 5kw generator for Air-con and battery charging. The main structure build and fit out has been done by Multimarine, whose reputation for creating robust, stiff, light weight and high quality bespoke crafts is well established, having built some of the most innovative boats in the UK over the last two decades. Each boat is especially tailored to the client s requirements. Apollo has a two-cabin layout with on-suite head, showers and wet rooms. The central galley features Ocean chef equipment including oven and sink and cookware which is of high quality and versatile along with microwave and large work-top and storage areas. A single berth sofa in the hull makes for a great sea berth or lounge area opposite the Navigation systems area and chart table. This is fully equipped with B&G navigation equipment giving tactical information when racing. This is linked up to a Sat dome mounted on the aft beam for communications. The boat has been hand finished with an Awlgrip paint system.

4 Race news and upcoming events Race News It s been an exciting year for the Dazcat boats and crews as we ve stretched ourselves a bit and entered some new races, along with our regulars. Despite some stiff competition, the bank holiday weekend of April 30 th May 2 nd saw Hissy fit come first in class on the Royal Western Yacht Club Triangle Race. With no time to spare, and hot on the heels of the Transat, three Dazcats set off for France to participate for the first time in the Armen Race. We were the only non-french boats entering the race and as it was our first time we were proud that Hissy Fit (D1495) came in 3rd, Suenos (D1195), 4th and Bare Necessities (D1150) 5th. The SNT La Trinite-Sur-Mer ran a great event with wonderful prizes We hope to head back again next year. The Three Creeks Race, organized by the Yealm Yacht Club, is based on the three Peaks and involves both sailing and running! Two Dazcats entered: Easy Tiger with Niel Boughton, and Bare Necessities, skippered by Bruce Sutherland who took second place. Owner Bruce has been making the most of and enjoying his first race season with a Dazcat. Upcoming Races Round the Island Saturday 2 nd July. Hissy Fit entered. Cowes Dinard/ St. Malo July 8 th. Hissy Fit entered. At the Poole Regatta MOCRA Nationals Simon Baker on Hissy Fit came in second after a good showdown against his brother Matt, who took first place on the trimaran Wombat! We were delighted that multihulls are now allowed to enter the Volvo Round Ireland, Thanks are due to Theo Phelan, one of the race organizers based at Wicklow Sailing Club, for the conversations with Simon to set this up. To celebrate, three Dazcats entered and they took 1 st, (Hissy Fit, Simon Baker) 2 nd (Bare Necessities, Bruce Sutherland) and 3 rd (Suenos, Rupert Kidd) places in the multihull class. 5 What s new in design and build? Current projects include the design, development and build of the Tomcat Project Artemis, which is a modified D1495, designed for single handed wheel chair access and use. The Tomcat is powered by sail only and promises to be a very interesting cruising catamaran designed to transport Thomas Hughes and his crew around the world. We have also started developing the D18m. This boat leans more towards the charter market, offering significantly more performance than what is currently available, while still keeping to the Dazcat principle of powerful comfort under sail. Also in build is the Dazcat 1195 kit, which includes all the shell, the rudders and dagger boards. Michael Drouilly will work with his son to personalise the finish in L Orient, France. This will be the first Dazcat to go to France. The Powercat range is getting a revamp and restructuring to create a new model range. Currently in build is the Powercat Both private and commercial ranges

6 of the Powercat are being developed for everything from a water taxi heading to Africa to an accessible live aboard. With all the amazing publicity we have had throughout Europe recently and with three boats in build, our order book is full for this year. We are already looking at next year s production, so if you are interested get in touch to reserve your build slot. Order soon as build slots will go quickly. Each Dazcat 1195 is hand crafted by composite engineers and boat builders who understand the exacting requirement needed to produce a very strong but lightweight structure. Combined with clever design and material processing this makes Dazcats, half the weight of a standard production catamaran, with the strength to race offshore. Only the highest quality materials and equipment are used.

7 Our three production builds are: D1495: Developed for 2015, the D1495 cruising catamaran is an exceptional performance catamaran designed for offshore and ocean cruising and racing. A new bridge deck and cockpit layout with cable and wheel steering, and fine tuned specifications making it as light as possible, optimise the boat for its best performance and make this catamaran responsive and great fun to sail. You have the choice, within the cruising and racing specification packs, to add more equipment to your boat; options range from generators and air conditioning to the choice of carbon or aluminium mast and sail configurations. We designed the D1495 to be sailed by a family or a group of friends who love the exhilaration of sailing a fast, responsive boat, but also want to go cruising and relax comfortably. The self-tacking jib makes it very easy to control - perfect for single or short-handed sailing. Having a high performance boat allows you to enjoy a larger cruising ground and gives you a greater choice of destinations, whether weekend sailing or cruising long distance. Passage times are reduced, less motoring is required and, even in the light winds of summer, the 1495 will sail fast, maximising your enjoyment on board. D1250: In design. D1195: Materials include protective 65PA gel coat, Isothalic resin with multi-axial and uni-directional engineered fabrics. Core material is PVC foam for the hull structure, wet-deck, bridgedeck canopy and bulkheads. Interior finishes include gel coat, painted, timber, and lined surfaces in the hulls.
