1 The Hustler MZVD5 The Hustler is a 1977 Hustler 30 designed by Holeman and Pye. The design reflects the fashion of the era. The benefits of reducing the wetted surface area had been recognised with the enthusiastic adoption of the fin and skeg design, but the hull also reflects the fashion of the time for a narrow hull with a minimal transom. The result is that she s fast on the wind and tracks wonderfully. Off the wind she a bit but still has a fair turn of speed. Accommodation is pretty tight but as the last pbo report says, she is still up to cruising and racing today. 4 birth layout. Actually, well set up for two people with two really good sea births and then ample storage. This boat has been owned by a member of the ocean cruising club and has been set up for solo off shore sailing. The dream was always single handed Jesters to the Azores but a new family have resulted in a change of plans! Radio call sign: MZVD5 Proof of change of circumstances!

3 Inventory. This is accurate as I can get it from the sofa! Engine: Volvo 2002 (18hp) driving a folding 2 blade prop (Gori) via a saildrive. Engine dates from Top end rebuild in Saildrive membrane replaced at that time. Serviced annually and runs beautifully. Direct cooled. Burns 1.3 l / hr at 2200 revs Prop new in ( 660!) Sufficient engine spares (filters / alternator belts / thermostat / oil / coolant / impellers for about 2 year s maintenance. Stainless steel fuel tank. Capacity circa 70 L. 25 L cans in reserve. The engine is great. The saildrive membrane will need replacement prior to re launch as it is about 10 years old now. I have some spare Volvo 2002 engine mounts available is the buyer wants to change these at the same time. Rigging: Standing rigging: Replaced 2010 Running rigging: Mostly replaced in the last 3 years. Genoa Sheets a little tired but supplied with enough Marlow braid on braid supplied for replacement when the new owner wants. (Current sheets have 2 3 years left in them) Winches 2 Harken 44 self tailing primaries (new 2010 costing 1600)

4 4 Harken Barbarossa winches for spinnaker and halyard control. 2 winch handles. Sails: Main and Genoa. Good Condition. Approx 10 years old. Second fully battened main available but without the battens! No. 2 Yankee cut genoa for running down wind with two sails Spinnaker (almost unused) Spinnaker pole Tri Sail Cockpit Teak. There are 5 locker tops in all. Two had new 2 cm thick teak covers last year. The floor is also new last year. The remaining three are in fair condition but will need to be done at some stage in the next 5 to 10 years.

6 Ground tackle. Main anchor CQR with 30 m 6 mm chain and 20 m octaplat with a plastimo windlass. New Spare Bruce Anchor with 10 m chain and 30 m octaplat. Mooring. Boat hook. 4 fenders and various mooring lines.

9 Electrics: 2 batteries 100ah each. Most wiring replaced in 2009/10. Rupland 913 wind gen on a stainless pole charging via a marlec charge control box. This boat is totally self sufficient. I have not plugged into shore power in the last 5 years. Nav: Full sized chart table. Garmin 128 GPS. Nasa AIS. VHF with mast head antennae. Depth repeater at chart table. Sony radio. Cockpit instruments are depth, log and gps repeater. All Nasa. 2 compass bulkhead mounted compasses and one hand bearing compass. Small chart folio for the Plymouth area and West Country cruising guide included. Accommodation: Headroom. 5 foot 9 inches. 4 Births. Two really good sea births, 2 occasional births, one a quarter birth and one in the forecabin with the head (could I describe this as en suite?...not in really good faith...)

10 Galley: Taylors 029 paraffin stove. Cold water via hand pump from flexi 50 L tank and foot pump salt water. Gimballed paraffin lamp. Thermo electric cool box governed by a fridgemate automatic switch.

12 Head: Jabsco compact. Supplied with refurb Kit Heating: Wallas paraffin heating. Ducted to single outlet under the galley. Exhaust vented from a cockpit combing.

13 Safety: 2 x fire extinguishers and one fire blanket mhz epirb. Unused but seal broken by fiddling child! Manual lifejackets x 2. Sort wooden plugs on all sea cocks and a spare set under the cockpit table. Two Bilge pumps. One under the galley sink and one in the lazarette. Supplied with a single refurb Kit. Cockpit mounted inflatable lifering and hall Dan Buoy. Liferaft: Seago 4 man valise. ISO rated. Cost circa 700. New in Serviced Stored in stainless steel cradle in front of the mast. Canvas Cover.

14 Tender: Old Avon. No OB. Self steering: Sea Feather self steering available by separate negotiation. Circa I have paid the mooring up till the end of June next year. Whilst this is not transferable, the mooring would be available to the next owner. In the event of a quick sale I might get a refund. If I did I would be happy to take this off the asking price... Price: OVVNO I have loved this boat and I am sure her next owner will too if he is looking for a small fast tough boat with long legs that will look after him or her in a filthy blow...because that is when she is at her finest. This is one of those boats that feels loved...
