1 NOTICE OF REGATTA 2015 U.S. Corsair Trimaran Rendezvous and National Championship April 28 - May 3, 2015 Organizing Authority and Host: Pensacola Yacht Club, Pensacola, Florida 1. RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. 1.2 In the event of a conflict between the Sailing Instructions and the Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions shall prevail. This changes RRS rule ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 2.1 The event is open to all trimarans of Corsair construction and/or Farrier design along with other PHRF-rated multihulls that can pass under a 65 foot bridge. A PHRF rating is not required for Fun Fleet participants. 2.2 The Race Fleet is open to boats in the following divisions or classes. Corsair Classes: C/F-24, F-27, C/F-28, C/F-31, C-36, C-37, Sprint/Dash 750, Cruze 970. Open Class: non Corsair-built Farrier designs such as F-25C, F-82, F- 9A etc., plus any other PHRF-rated multihulls. Actual class divisions will be determined as registration numbers dictate. A minimum of five boats is required to establish a separate class. 2.3 The Regatta Chair in coordination with the Racing Fleet Coordinator and Organizing Authority may, at its sole discretion, determine eligibility and placement within divisions. 2.4 Eligible boats may be entered by registering online or by mailing a completed entry form with entry fees. 2.5 All boats shall submit a completed Waiver of Liability form either on-line, by mail with registration, or when checking in at the event. 2.6 All competitors and other registrants will pay the same fees for the event regardless of which portions they choose to participate in. 2.7 Links to Online Registration, Mail-in Registration Forms, PHRF Handicap Application Forms and Sail and Hull Declaration Forms are available on the Regatta Web Site

2 2.8 Competitors not registering online shall mail their completed registration form to: Pensacola Yacht Club (make checks payable to Pensacola Yacht Club) Attn: Corsair Rendezvous 1897 Cypress Street, Pensacola, FL Deadline for receipt of mail-in registrations is 1700 hrs on 14 April, FEES 3.1 Required fees are as follows: U.S. Sailing Members: $ (includes one shirt and admittance to the Corsair barbecue at Fort McRee along with the parties at Pirates Cove and Juana s, and the PYC banquet) Non-U.S. Sailing Members $ Registrations postmarked after 31 March, 2015 require an additional $35.00 fee 3.2 Hospitality Fees will be $50.00 per crew member or guest. This fee includes one shirt and admittance for one to all events identified above. 4 SCHEDULE OF RACES 4.1 The dates and times of the first warning signal for each course will be as follows: Date Time Type Friday, 1 May, Distance (Race Fleet) Friday, 1 May, Distance (Fun Fleet) Saturday, 2 May, Saturday, 2 May, Distance followed by multiple buoy races (Race Fleet) Distance (Fun Fleet) Sunday, 3 May, Multiple Buoy races (Race Fleet) Sunday, 3 May, Navigation Challenge (Fun Fleet) 4.2 A total of nine races are planned for the Racing Fleet. Two fun distance races and a Navigation Challenge are planned for the Fun Fleet. 5 MEASUREMENTS 5.1 Each boat shall conform to its class rules, and/or have a current PHRF rating (except for the Fun Fleet).

3 5.2 All registrants shall specify their boat s current handicap rating at the time of registration, based on personal certification of compliance with relevant class rules, or on an existing valid PHRF Certificate. 5.3 For boats that do not have a valid PHRF Certificate, and do not conform to their class rules, an application for a PHRF rating must be submitted to the Rating Committee and post marked no later than April 15, Copies of the required forms, and the address to send them can be found on the Event Web Site In the event of a conflict between rating authorities, a temporary rating will be assigned at the discretion of the Organizing Authority with the assistance of the 2015 Corsair Rendezvous and Nationals Rating Committee, which shall be valid for this regatta only and cannot be appealed. 5.5 Measurements will not be conducted unless required to settle a protest. 6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 6.1 Event packets, to include the Sailing Instructions, will be available at Check-in at the Hampton Inn, 61 Gulf Breeze Parkway on Tuesday, 28 April from 1:00-4:00 pm. For those arriving later, event packets will also be available at Check-in at the Pensacola Yacht Club on Thursday, 30 April from 1:00-3:00 pm. 6.2 All participants will receive the same event packet regardless of their planned activities. 7 VENUE 7.1 The venue ranges from cruising west from Pensacola to Pirates Cove Marina and Restaurant in Elberta, Alabama and cruising/racing east to Juana s Pagodas in Navarre, FL. Buoy races and the Navigation Challenge will be held in Pensacola Bay. 7.2 There will be a rendezvous and overnight campout / raftup at Fort McRee (no facilities, accessible only by boat) for the Corsair Beach Barbecue and Bonfire and another overnight campout at Juana s Pagodas in Navarre. 7.3 Distance races for both the Fun Fleet and Racing Fleet on Friday will start in the vicinity of marker G 145 at the South central part of Pensacola Bay and finish at marker G 95 near Juana s Pagodas at Navarre Beach. 7.4 The following link will provide additional documentation on the schedule of events, hotel accommodations, launching, docking/anchoring locations, racing and cruising areas and a list of minimum recommended gear for all who are participating in overnight and fun fleet activities. 8 COURSES

4 8.1 The two distance courses will be approximately 24 nm and 14 nm respectively. 8.2 The Navigation Challenge will take place within Pensacola Bay and will be described in the Sailing Instructions 9 PENALTY SYSTEM For all classes, rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty. 10 SCORING 10.1 The Low-Point System of Appendix A, US Sailing The Racing Rules of Sailing will be used Four races are required to be completed to constitute a series 10.3 When five or more races have been completed, a boat s score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. 11 RADIO COMMUNICATION 11.1 It is recommended that all boats monitor VHF channel 16 while racing in or transiting the Intracoastal Waterway in case of necessity to coordinate safe passage with commercial barge traffic. Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones The Fun Fleet will use one of the following VHF radio channels for any onthe-water communication (68, 69, 71 or 72). Group text messages may also be used to coordinate activities. 12 AWARDS 12.1 Awards will be given as follows: First place through third place overall for each class; Corsair National Champion Award for the Corsair boat with the best overall corrected time score; Farrier Perpetual Trophy for the non- Corsair boat with the best overall corrected time score, and Windcraft Amateur Trophy for the highest ranked all-amateur team. There may be additional awards as the Regatta Committee deems appropriate Additional awards will be made for each distance race Fun fleet prizes will be awarded following the conclusion of each day s activities 13 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

5 Sailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors in this event are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The race organizers (organizing authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors or any other organization or official will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as a result of participation in this event.
