The Romanian General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations has provided the following updated information about the situation in the stricken area: 1.1 After several days without rain and a stabilising situation, heavy rainfall during the last 48 hours has worsened the flood conditions. The flooded area now measures approximately 100 square kilometres and the following towns and villages are particularly affected: Foeni 35% of the village are flooded (120 houses, 4 streets and 1187 hectares are flooded) Cruceni is isolated by waters, 12 % are flooded; (2 streets, 27 houses and 1208 hectares are flooded) Otelec 60% flooded (280 houses and 1345 hectares are flooded) Ionel isolated by waters, 30% of village is flooded (94 houses and 4858 hectares are flooded, the road to Ionel and Foeni is closed) Due to the heavy rain that fall yesterday in Olt county (45-50 litres/square meter in 24 hours) was affected 4 villages: 400 houses are flooded, 100 houses are isolated 1.2 Due to continuing heavy rainfalls and the precarious flood situation in the stricken area the Romanian National Committee for Emergency Situations have decided to maintain the request for international assistance. -1-

Hepatitis A vaccine for children dose DT vaccine - for children - for adults dose dose Container for animal corps each Disinfectant pumps each Necropsy case each Assistance provided by EAPC Nations The following assistance has been offered / provided to the stricken country: 3.1 Austria Submersible water pumps ( lit/minute) Submersible water pumps (1500 litres per minute) Power generators 125 kva Cable traction devices 5 tons force capacity Personnel The Austrian teams have departed on 25 May 05, leaving 10 submersible water pumps (1500 litres per minute) with the Romanian authorities. -2-

The Finish team is operating at Cruceni and the Graniceri dike. 3.4 France Medium capacity water pumps Water purification plant ( litres per hour) Specialised intervention personnel The assistance has arrived 30 May 05. The French team is operating at the Graniceri dike. 3.5 Germany Water supply and treatment plant (6000 litres/hour) Water analysis laboratory Water fountain rehabilitation unit High capacity water pumps ( litres/minute) Power generator kva Personnel The assistance had been provided on a bilateral basis till 30 May Greece Financial contribution Financial contribution to purchase high capacity water pumps. 3.7 Hungary -3-

4 3.7.1 High capacity water pumps (500 litres per second) Operating personnel for one month Water purification unit (4500 litres per hour) Operating personnel for two weeks The assistance has been provided on a bilateral basis in response to an earlier request from the Romanian authorities. A 17 men Hungarian team is operating at the Otelec dike. 3.8 Luxembourg Diving suits Diving compressed air tanks Diving accessories various The relief items have arrived 23 May Moldova Tents (3-5 persons) Rubber boots pair Roof slate The contribution has been offered on a bilateral basis. The relief items have arrived in the stricken area by rail on 6 June Spain Submersible water pumps The equipment was delivered to the stricken area on 27 May Sweden Water proof clothes (jackets and trousers) pair Chloramines B (20 sacks of 50 kg) 1000 kg The assistance has arrived 31 May Switzerland Financial contribution CHF Water and sanitation expert The contribution has been offered on a bilateral basis United Kingdom Financial contribution

5 The contribution has been offered through DFID in response to an IFRC appeal to meet immediate humanitarian needs United States of America Financial contribution USD The contribution has been offered on a bilateral basis. 4.
