9 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 9 of INTRODUCTION HTT-40 ac has Crew Alert and Warning System (CAWS) which indicates the occurrence of a warning condition and alerts the pilot through audio and visual means. Primary and Secondary warnings are generated based on the severity of the failure. Primary warnings are displayed in Red and are accompanied by primary audio warning alarm. Secondary warnings are displayed in amber and are accompanied by secondary audio warning alarm. Apart from these warnings, there are malfunctions/ emergency situations which require pilot actions. Emergency procedures w.r.t. warnings and malfunctions are described in subsequent paragraphs. 2. REFERENCE DOCUMENT Document No. HAL P-101B- HTT-40-14, Issue1: Feb 2016 HTT-40 ac Flight Reference Cards. 3. DEFINITIONS - LANDING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (ASAP): The severity of failure demands a landing as soon as possible at the nearest available base. - RETURN TO BASE (RTB): The severity of failure does not entail landing at the nearest base but demands the mission to be aborted and land at the most suitable base. - PRECAUTIONARY LANDING: The severity of failure entails certain precautions to be taken while landing as specific to the nature of failure. 4. ADVISORY - Reset the attention getter on occurrence of any associated primary/secondary warning. - Force landing is permitted on semi-prepared surface. 5. EMERGENCY PROCEDURES 5.1 BATT FAIL CONDITION: Battery temperature > 71ºC Attention Getter ON Audio Warning Primary Alarm ON NOTE Select GPU/OFF/BAT sw to OFF. Land ASAP. Total Electrical Failure possible if GEN Fails.

10 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 10 of GEN FAIL Attention Getter ON Audio Warning Primary Alarm ON Voltage <26 V - Reset GEN sw (max two attempts). - If Wx goes OFF, continue flight. - If GEN FAIL Wx remains ON, abort mission. (GEN sw OFF). - Select Non Essential Electricals OFF (See Notes). - Minimise use of RT and Trimmers. - Monitor the voltage and current frequently. - Descend below freezing level - Abort mission and Return to base. - Before Voltage falls < 18 volts, fuel permitting, drop speed for landing configuration, lower landing gear by normal means. Lower flaps normally on circuit. If V< 18 volts, land ASAP. Lower landing gear by emergency means and prepare for flapless landing. CARD 2R CAUTIONS - BAT BUS WILL CATER FOR 72A FOR AT LEAST 22 MIN. - IF BAT BUS VOLTAGE DROPS BELOW 18V, LANDING GEAR CAN BE ONLY LOWERED ON EMERGENCY. CARRY OUT FLAPLESS LANDING. NOTES If the GEN voltage = 28V with GEN FAIL, Current showing negative, implies BTC FAIL Loads automatically shed with GEN failure 1. Taxi Light 2. Anti-coll. light 3. Communication (Main) 4. Heating for PITOT, TAT, FTI Probe 5. Propeller Heater Loads that can be shed (Non Essential Loads) - GPS/VOR/TACAN once sure of Ground position - IFF once cleared by Radar - Navigation Lights - Landing lights to be selected ON only on finals.

Abort mission Lower the Landing gear through Emergency Hydraulic system. Return to base. Clear runway, Switch off and carry out Quick exit. 10 brake applications available with brake accumulator. In case of Hydraulic leak, pressure drops to zero rapidly. 5.4 EMER HYD Emergency hydraulic pressure < 1450 psi Attention Getter ON Audio Warning Primary Alarm ON Consideration: Hydraulic fluid leak and fire hazard. Check Main hydraulic system pressure & Brake accumulator pressure in green. Abort mission. Lower the Landing gear through Main Hydraulic system. Return to base. 5.5 LO RES LVL (could be associated with momentary PUMP light on MIP and HYD PR ) Attention Getter ON Audio Warning Primary Alarm ON Consideration: Hydraulic fluid leak and fire hazard. Check Emergency Hydraulic Pressure in green band. Abort mission

12 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 12 of 29 Lower the Landing gear through Emergency Hydraulic system only (even if Main Hydraulic pressure is in green band). Land ASAP. Clear runway, Switch off and carry out Quick exit. NOTES If brakes ineffective, use reverse thrust to stop aircraft. If engaging arrester barrier, Switch off and feather propeller. 5.6 EEC FAIL INDICATION EEC light on MIP ON Recycle EEC sw. If no joy, switch off EEC. Abort mission, Return to base. Do not use REVERSE after landing. WARNING USE OF REVERSE PROHIBITED. NOTE With EEC failed, engine operates in hydro mechanical mode. Avoid rapid PCL movements. Go around possible. 5.7 CHIPS IN OIL INDICATION CHIP light on MIP ON Consideration: Presence of metal chips in oil. Could lead to engine failure. Use engine at minimum power required. Land ASAP. 5.8 HI OIL TMP OR OIL PR Attention Getter ON Audio Warning Primary Alarm ON Reduce torque till Wx goes off.

13 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 13 of 29 If Wx remains ON, keep minimum torque to maintain level flight. Avoid rapid PCL movements. Land ASAP. Intercept PFL pattern. Clear runway and Switch off. Do not taxy back. NOTES Be prepared for engine seizure. If engine ceases operate Emergency Shut-off and Feather Lever. Consider force landing or EJECT. 5.9 BP1 FAIL CONDITION: Fuel feed line pressure < 5 psig Attention Getter ON Audio Warning Primary Alarm ON NOTE Check BP sw in AUTO. Confirm no BP2 FAIL Wx Select BP sw to BP2 and see BP2 FAIL remains OFF. Avoid zero / negative g manoeuvres. Return to base. CARD 4R Normal flying possible with BP2. However, inverted/ negative g not advisable BP1 FAIL & BP2 FAIL Attention Getter ON Audio Warning Primary Alarm ON Engine in suction mode Consideration: Engine running in suction mode. Check BP sw in AUTO. BP1 FAIL & BP2 FAIL Wx persisting, select BP2 manually. If BP2 FAIL OFF. - Avoid zero / negative g manoeuvres. - Land ASAP. If no joy, use minimum power. Avoid harsh PCL movements. Avoid zero/ negative g manoeuvres. Land ASAP off PFL pattern. Clear off the runway and Switch off.

14 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 14 of 29 CAUTION WITH BOTH BP1 FAIL & BP2 FAIL ON, BE PREPARED FOR A POSSIBLE ENGINE FLAME OUT LO FUEL Attention Getter ON Audio Warning Primary Alarm ON Fuel content < 90 lb Abort mission. Land ASAP. If fuel leak suspected, land off a PFL pattern. CAUTIONS MISMATCH BETWEEN GAUGED FUEL AND DETOT INDICATES FUEL LEAK. PREPARE FOR AN ENGINE FLAME OUT, IF COLLECTOR TANK CONTENTS DROP BELOW 20 lb CANOPY Attention Getter ON Audio Warning Primary Alarm ON Check canopy locking handle fully forward. Reduce speed below 150 kt. - Visor down. - Carry out gentle manoeuvring only. - Land ASAP.

15 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 15 of LO OXY PR Attention Getter Audio Warning Primary Alarm Content gauge needle in Red sector ON ON Check oxygen flow, connections secure. Tighten oxygen mask. If discomfort / difficulty in breathing, select EMERGENCY ON on regulator. Continuous flow will be available. Emergency oxygen control handle may be operated if necessary. (Sufficient for 10 min). Descend below ft. Return to base ECS OFF Attention Getter Audio Warning Secondary Alarm ON ON Select BLEED sw ON (both front & rear cockpits). If Wx goes off, continue the flight ECS OV PR OR ECS OV TEMP Attention Getter Audio Warning Secondary Alarm ON ON Descend below 10,000 ft. Select Bleed sw OFF. Select RAM AIR OPEN. Return to base. NOTE ECS shuts down automatically and is not resettable.

16 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 16 of HEATER Attention Getter Audio Warning Secondary Alarm ON ON Re-Check PITOT ON. If no joy, avoid flying in clouds/ icing conditions. Return to base AHRS Attention Getter Audio Warning Secondary Alarm Heading & Attitude Fail on PFD page. ON ON Use ISIS. Realign AHRS by recycling switch in straight and level flight. If no joy, use ISIS to get home. Return to base ADC Attention Getter ON Audio Warning Secondary Alarm ON CAS, Mach, Altitude, VSI on PFD page fail Use ISIS to get home. Return to base GPS Attention Getter ON Audio Warning Secondary Alarm ON FIX light on GPS controller Flashing

17 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 17 of 29 Consideration: GPS fix may be lost during sustained manoeuvres and will be regained within few minutes after ac is straight and level. If warning persists, Recycle GPS. If no joy, use VOR / TACAN, ground features and inputs of Ground Radar to return to base ENGINE FIRE IN AIR Flame/Smoke in engine area. Call from ATC / other ac in air. Abnormal engine parameters. Smoke in cockpit If fire is confirmed visually and engine parameters normal, use minimum power, land ASAP. If engine parameters beyond limits, pull back Emergency shut-off and feather lever, Intercept PFL pattern and Land ASAP. After landing, when under control, pull and engage Fire wall shut off handle. Select GPU/OFF/BAT sw OFF. Quick exit. If fire extensive and unable to reach base EJECT FIRE ON GROUND INDICATION Signal from Ground Crew. Press STOP. Pull and engage Fire wall shut off handle. RT call if possible. Select GPU/OFF/BAT sw OFF. Quick exit ABORT TAKE OFF CONDITIONS Abnormal Engine Behaviour/ Parameters. Tyre Burst with nose wheel down. If any of the following warnings come ON:- - Engine FIRE - CAWS any RED failure warning.

18 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 18 of 29 - EEC FAIL - CHIP LIGHT In case of FIRE, pull and engage Fire wall shut-off handle. RT call. Once ac stops, Quick exit. In other cases, PCL to Flight Idle. Stop ac using reverse thrust and brakes. RT Call. Clear off runway. Switch off engine. GPU/OFF/BAT sw OFF. Quick exit / await assistance. NOTES Going off the R/W / into obstruction retract landing gear by operating WOW override button. If engaging barrier, pull back Emergency Shut- off and Feather Lever QUICK EXIT Open the canopy. If canopy jammed - Visor down - Pull canopy GES handle to operate MDC Operate QRB. Remove oxygen and RT connections. Leave ac and move away PLANNED EJECTION Speed 150 to 200 KIAS Altitude 5,000 to10,000 ft AGL RT Call IFF Emergency Lower visor, tighten mask, harness locked and tight. Point the ac towards uninhabited area. Wings level. Level or shallow climb. PCL to Flight IDLE. Hold ejection seat handle with both hands. Correct posture. Pull Handle.

19 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 19 of 29 NOTES Use one of two procedures to operate seat firing handle: One-hand procedure: Hold seat firing handle with palm of strong hand. Other hand to hold wrist of strong hand. Keep elbows tucked in to body, and pull. Two-hand procedure: Hold seat firing handle with thumb and not less than two fingers of each hand. Keep elbows tucked in to body, and pull BIRD HIT Impact noise. Airframe damage. Engine damage (Sudden rise of EGT & drop in Torque and RPM.) Maintain PCL setting, get wings level and ease up. Check engine parameters. If satisfactory, increase torque and climb to 10,000 ft for low speed check. Assess the extent of damage visually or by any other ac air borne. Carry out low speed check in clean configuration followed by landing configuration till 90 kt or buffet/controllable speed whichever is higher. Aim for threshold speed of 90 kt or min controllable Max threshold speed restricted to 100 kt. Switch off on landing roll when under control. IN CASE OF ENGINE FLAME OUT Expect NTS Relight. If successful, check engine parameters, land ASAP off PFL pattern. If no joy, carry out relight drill. In case of no relight, attempt force landing, if in gliding distance to base. Eject if not able to force land. NOTE In case of a bird hit with LG down, do not retract LG and flaps. Check hydraulic and break pressures. Do not test brakes RELIGHT PROCEDURE NOTE Relight possible in EEC or Manual mode. If EEC serviceable attempt relight in EEC mode first. Relight in EEC Mode Operate Emergency Fuel Shut-off and Feather Lever and feather the propeller. Perform relight as follows:

20 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 20 of 29 - Select Emergency Fuel Shut-off and Feather Lever to Normal - Move PCL 1 inch ahead of FLIGHT IDLE - Select Bleed Air--- OFF - Select RPM LOW/HIGH sw Low - Select IGN sw to CONT (check Ignition Lamp ON) Unfeather Pump sw--- AUTO - Re-check AIR/GND/VENT sw---air Actuate Start sw momentarily (approx 2 sec) Check propeller- ROTATING ST light ON Monitor RPM build up, EGT and Fuel Flow Max EGT 770ºC. Once parameters normal, select RPM LOW/HIGH sw to HIGH, prove the engine. Land ASAP off a PFL pattern. Relight failure in EEC Mode Actuate START/STOP sw to STOP. Attempt another relight. If no joy, continue gliding and attempt manual relight. Manual Relight Operate Emergency Fuel Shut-off and Feather Lever and feather the propeller. Move Emergency Fuel Shut-off and Feather Lever back to Normal. Move PCL 1 inch ahead of FLIGHT IDLE Ensure, - Bleed sw --- OFF - RPM LOW/HIGH sw Low - IGN sw to CONT (check IGN light ON) Unfeather Pump sw--- Auto - AIR/GND/VENT sw----air Actuate Unfeather Pump sw momentarily and HOLD until Propeller starts rotating. Check RPM rising. RPM abov 10%, operate Enrich button in a pulsed manner Monitor RPM build up, EGT and Fuel Flow Max EGT 770 ºC. Once parameters normal, select RPM LOW/HIGH sw to HIGH, prove the engine. Land ASAP off a PFL pattern. Relight failure in Manual Mode If manual relight is unsuccessful, height permitting, attempt another manual relight. If relight unsuccessful attempt to force land ASAP. If unable to land, EJECT FORCED LANDING Operate Emergency Shut-off and Feather Lever to feather the propeller. Glide at 120 to130 kt. Select LP cock OFF. Aim for standard square pattern with High Key of 6500 ft AGL, Mid Key 4500 ft AGL and Low Key of 2500 ft AGL. Lower landing gear on emergency on base leg.

21 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 21 of 29 Turn on to final approach at 120 kt. Lower flaps on perspective. Reduce speed to 100 kt on threshold. Once the aircraft comes to a stop, complete Switch off, carry out quick exit. If unable to force land, EJECT. NOTE In case of propeller windmilling, the ROD is higher. So, increase low key, mid key and high key by 2000 ft additionally TOXIC FUMES/ SMOKE IN COCKPIT Select Bleed OFF in Front / Rear cockpit. Select 100% oxygen on Regulator and tighten the mask. Check for signs of fire. Descend to ft. Select BLEED sw OFF. Select RAM AIR OPEN. Land ASAP. NOTE If fumes/ smoke persist, EJECT DISCOMFORT/ DIFFICULTY IN BREATHING Consideration Regulator or mask may be faulty. Check oxygen contents and connections. Select Normal/100% sw to 100% on regulator. Descend below ft. Select Emergency ON/OFF sw to ON. If discomfort continues, remove mask below10000 ft. Return to base FUEL LEAK White trail observed by ATC/other aircraft. Fuel gauge contents reducing rapidly. Mismatch between gauged fuel Total and DETOT. Abort mission, land ASAP off a PFL pattern. Switch off on landing roll once under control.

22 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 22 of 29 If engine flames out and unable to land, EJECT MAIN V/UHF FAILURE Flashing star on control panel No RT transmission/ Reception. No side tone Check CALL sw OFF. Recycle power switch. If no joy, use other ACS235 set. If both sets U/S, carry out U/S RT procedure INTERCOM FAIL Loss of communication between cockpits. Check Volume. Select CALL sw ON. Try alternate amplifier channel. If no joy, use RT as intercom or pre-briefed cockpit procedures LANDING ON WET RUNWAY Carry out normal approach. Aim for a firm landing. Carry out aerodynamic braking. After nose wheel is down, use reverse thrust to decelerate. Use wheel brakes sparingly. Maintain direction with rudder CABIN TEMPERATURE CONTROL SYSTEM FAILURE INDICATION Based on cockpit comfort levels by pilot s feel. Select temperature control knob to COLD / HOT as required. If still discomfort persists, select Bleed sw OFF. Descend below ft. Select RAM AIR OPEN. Return to base.

23 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 23 of CANOPY NOT OPENING On the ground: canopy fails to open (when the internal handles are not moving). If there is no emergency obtain assistance to open the canopy using external handle. If an emergency, operate the GES handle CANOPY MISTING Mist on wind shield Get on to Instruments. Check BLEED sw ON Set Demist sw ON If no joy, set temperature fully hot. After mist clears, set Demist OFF, reset the temperature to desired comfort level LANDING GEAR FAILURES LANDING GEAR RETRACTION FAILURE INDICATION (a) All wheels remain locked down (3 Greens). Maintain air speed below 135 kt. Select LG lever to Down. Check Main Hydraulic pressure in green band. Do not attempt retraction. Leave LG Down for remainder of flight. Return to base. (b) Greens extinguish but one or more Reds remain ON. Maintain air speed below 135 kt. Select LG lever to Down. If 3 Greens obtained, Do not retract LG Return to base If 3 Greens not obtained

24 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 24 of 29 Carry out EMERGENCY LANDING GEAR EXTENSION procedure LANDING GEAR EXTENSION FAILURE INDICATION (a) All wheels remain locked up (All lights OFF) Maintain air speed below 135 kt. Check Hydraulic pressure in green band. Recycle LG lever UP Down. If LG remains up Carry out EMERGENCY LANDING GEAR EXTENSION procedure. (b) Landing Gear unlocks but one or more wheels do not lock down (1, 2 or 3 reds) Maintain air speed below 135 kt. Do not recycle LG lever. Carry out EMERGENCY LANDING GEAR EXTENSION procedure EMERGENCY LANDING GEAR EXTENSION PROCEDURE Maintain air speed below 135 kt. Select LG lever to Down. Pull EMER U/C Handle. If 3 greens obtained Return to base. If 3 greens not obtained Obtain external inspection of aircraft. According to LG position, apply negative and positive "g" and/or side slip in an attempt to lock LG DOWN. If 3 greens still not obtained Carry out LANDING WITH GEAR UP OR PARTIALLY DOWN procedure LANDING WITH GEAR UP OR PARTIALLY DOWN PROCEDURE With all wheels up, Nose wheel up or only Nose wheel down Reduce Fuel to Minimum quantity.

25 RESTRICTED HTT-40 Page 25 of 29 Extend flaps. When sure of landing, before touchdown Pull back Emergency Shut-off and Feather Lever. Pull and engage Firewall Shut-off Handle. NOTE If only one main wheel is down, retract LG and carry out belly landing. Where Possible Land on foam covered runway, Use aileron to keep wings level. Lower nose gently before elevator effectiveness is lost. Maintain direction with rudders and brakes. Once aircraft comes to a stop, carry out quick exit LG SELECTOR LEVER MALFUNCTION (a) Stuck in down position Maintain air speed below 135 kt. Do not attempt retraction. Confirm three greens. (b) ON LANDING ROLL Be prepared for loss of directional control towards the side of the burst tyre. Maintain direction with help of rudders and brakes. Use engine reverse thrust to decelerate. Once aircraft comes to stop, carry out quick exit. If going off the R/W, - Pull back Emergency Shut-off and Feather Lever. - Pull Firewall Shut-off Handle.
