1 Page 1 of 7 CERTIFICATION IMPACT ANALYSIS: IEC 60065, SEVENTH EDITION vs. GB Audio, video and similar electronic apparatus Safety requirements This analysis is intended to identify and analyze the impact of notable differences between the IEC and GB standards for Safety of Audio, video and similar electronic apparatus (AV). In particular, the GB is being analyzed and compared to IEC 60065:2005 ed7.1. This analysis will permit persons already familiar with the Standard of IEC to become familiar with the likely impact on AV of the latest GB AV Safety Standards. This analysis will be updated as additional information on the application of the new Standards becomes known. Background IEC is the International Standard for Safety of Audio, video and similar electronic apparatus. This International Safety Standard applies to electronic apparatus designed to be fed from the MAINS, from a SUPPLY APPARATUS, from batteries or from REMOTE POWER FEEDING and intended for reception, generation, recording or reproduction respectively of audio, video and associated signals. It also applies to apparatus designed to be used exclusively in combination with the above-mentioned apparatus. This standard primarily concerns apparatus intended for household and similar general use but which may also be used in places of public assembly such as schools, theatres, places of worship and the workplace. PROFESSIONAL APPARATUS intended for use as described above is also covered unless falling specifically within the scope of other standards. In China, the AV Standard, formally designated GB , is based on the Seventh Edition of IEC 60065, and like its predecessors includes China Deviations to address National requirements not in the base IEC document. GB change the humidity treatment conditions as following: For apparatus intended to be used in other than tropical climates, the humidity treatment is carried out in a humidity chamber containing air with a relative humidity of 93 ±3 %. The temperature of the air, at all places where the apparatus can be located, is maintained at any temperature between (20 30) ±2 C without condensation, conditioning time 48h. Major. 7 Page 7 of 7 Instructions 10 Insulation requirements If the apparatus is providing with antenna coaxial socket for non-isolated cable TV network, the following or similar statement shall be marked on the apparatus or given in the instructions: The cable TV network connecting to this apparatus must isolate from protective earthing, otherwise it may cause fire or other hazard. 18 Mechanical strength of picture tubes and protection against the effects of implosion GB add new requirement to sub-clause 10, third paragraph: The antenna coaxial socket for cable TV network and the protective earthing circuit shall comply with Basic Insulation Resistance requirement. If the Class II apparatus may connect to other Class I apparatus protective circuit, the Class II apparatus antenna coaxial socket and any other interconnecting terminal shall comply with Basic Insulation Resistance requirement. Note: No insulation requirement between cable TV network antenna coaxial sockets and protective earthing circuit if cable TV network antenna has already separated from protective earth before connected to apparatus, but need to satisfy with the requirement of i). GB specify that for intrinsically protected tubes, including those having integral protective screens, shall be tested by GB27701(IEC61965:2003, IDT) Due to the earthing connection insulation in building is not so good in some place of China, so insulation is required between protective earth and antenna coaxial socket of cable TV network.
