1 TSB # March 13, 2014 Page 1 of 7 TO: ATTN: SUBJECT: All Bourgault Dealers Service Manager, Parts Manager, Sales Manager 3320 XTC Depth Adjustment Assembly Update MANDATORY UPDATE: (Failure Code 18.14) BACKGROUND: It has come to our attention that some 3320 s with XTC openers are experiencing premature failures of the depth pivot linkage bushings. In order to resolve this premature wear, the polygon bushings in this primarily non-pivoting location have been upgraded with two hardened connex steel bushings that are much better suited to the impact loading seen in the more challenging field conditions or when exposed to higher seeding speeds. The change to the connex bushings was a running production change, the machines listed in this bulletin have been identified as requiring the update from polygon to the connex bushings. CORRECTIVE ACTION: This TSB requires a number of steps to determine the proper parts required to complete this Update. o Step 1- Mandatory Inspection of units listed in the table on page 2. Inspect two random openers to confirm the machine has the polygon bushings and requires the Update. Use the diagram/instruction on PAGE 3 to determine what Update parts are required for EACH opener. Some openers may need to be upgraded with a new sub-assembly while other openers on the machine will only require the replacement bushings and bolt. o Step 2 -Refer to the Fix-on-Failure sections of this TSB Follow the instructions to determine what update parts are required Order the required parts from the Bourgault Parts Department. o Step 3 - Submit a warranty claim for the Mandatory Update/Inspection portion of this TSB WARRANTY DETAIL: 1.5 hours travel allowance 1.5 hours to inspect openers. Units listed must be inspected and the required parts ordered prior to March 31, 2014 o Step 3 Update the XTC openers once parts arrive o Step 4 Submit warranty claim(s) as per details in the appropriate Fix-on-Failure sections of TSB Deadline for the completion of this TSB is April 30, Contact your Customer Service Rep if you are unable to meet the published deadline. 3 TSB # Page 3 of 7 When the engaging tab is inserted in the notches look for how much free movement ( when moved fore and aft within the notch) is available between tab and notch. Note it is common for only a few notches to have been previously used make measurements in the notches showing the most wear. Depth adjustment assemblies showing 1/8 of free movement should be replaced. Each individual opener is to be inspected to determine the required update parts. It is recommended to mark which openers that will require the subassembly, this will make it easier to quickly identify them. There may be machines or openers that are questionable if you need help determining what upgrade to perform and what parts to order please contact your Customer Service Rep immediately.

4 TSB # Page 4 of 7 REPLACEMENT OF BUSHING AND PIVOT BOLT FIX ON FAILURE (Failure Code BUSHING) BACKGROUND: After inspection of the XTC opener (as per diagram/instruction on PAGE 3) if the depth adjustment assembly does not show significant enough wear to justify changing the assembly then he opener will be updated by installing the new connex bushings and a new pivot bolt. CORRECTIVE ACTION: Order the required quantity of parts from the table below Install update parts as shown on the instructions on page 5. 6 TSB # Page 6 of 7 REPLACEMENT OF DEPTH ADJUST SUB-ASSEMBLY FIX ON FAILURE (Failure Code SUB-ASSY) BACKGROUND: After inspection of the XTC opener (as per diagram/instruction on PAGE 3) if the depth adjustment assembly shows enough significant wear that it will require the depth adjustment assembly be totally replaced then the opener will be updated by installing a new depth adjustment sub-assembly. CORRECTIVE ACTION: Order the required quantity of left and right sub-assemblies from the table below Install update parts as shown on the instructions on page 7 The openers that receive the sub-assembly should be field calibrated to ensure the proper seeding depth is achieved. Mark these openers with flagging tape and explain to customer the need to verify.
