Day 1: Seville (ARRIVAL) A driver will be waiting for you on arrival at Seville airport.

Day 4: Chefchaouen to Ifrane (298km) Today s drive is one of our favourites of the entire rally.

2 Route Morocco is incredibly diverse. I have been many times, as has Conrad, across the Atlas Mountains to Marrakesh and beyond. Each time it surprises me. The green of the palmeries and oases, the stark red earth, the cedar forests of Middle Atlas, the desert and the mountain passes, some of which are snow covered. The culture and architecture is fascinating. It is a delightful country and one which is close to perfect for classic rallying, marrying together great driving with gorgeous hotels and sites of cultural interest. Day 1: Seville (ARRIVAL) A driver will be waiting for you on arrival at Seville airport. It is a 20 minute journey to our hotel, the Hotel Alfonso XIII, where your car will be ready and waiting for you. Following the rally briefing will be the welcome dinner and drinks party. Day 4: Chefchaouen to Ifrane (298km) Today s drive is one of our favourites of the entire rally. Soon after departing Chefchaouen we dive off into the mountains and enjoy breathtaking landscapes as we head south. If you haven t been to Morocco before, or indeed if you have only ever seen the area around Marrakech, today s drive will amaze you - it looks totally different to what you might imagine Morocco to be: very green, rolling hills and lakes. At times you could easily be in Italy. Overnight at the wonderful Michlifen spa hotel. Day 2: Seville to Tangier (241km) We set off nice and early and enjoy a leisurely jaunt through the Parque Natural de Alcornocales down to the southern tip of the Spanish mainland at Tarifa for the afternoon ferry. An hour later we are across the Strait of Gibraltar, a mere 14km gap that separates Europe from Africa and spend the night in Tangier. You will have plenty of time to explore the Tangier medina (old walled city). Overnight at the Hilton. Day 3: Tangier to Chefchaouen (152km) We traverse the Rif mountains en route to Chefchaouen. Once out of Tangier the route takes you on some great driving roads with very little traffic, passing through little villages that see very few outsiders. They certainly seemed surprised to see our truck passing through during the route survey. Today is entirely paved, although some sections are heavily potholed. These are marked in the road book with alternative route options offered. Chefchaouen is a BRILLIANT place! The Blue City - it is a more a small town than a city, an endless warren of little alleyways with street vendors selling all manner of things, with almost every building painted blue. Chefchaouen used to be a popular hangout for the Beatles, a sort of hippie Mecca with a relaxed attitude towards... herbal cigarettes. Day 5: Ifrane to Ouzoud (304km) A fairly long day today, the rally route takes you along a mix of tarmac and dirt roads some of which are fairly slow going. If you find the surfacing (or lack thereof) too much of a challenge the are numerous opportunities to descend to the main road to the west. Overnight at Hotel Widiane.

Day 6: Ouzoud to Marrakech (232km) 90 minutes after leaving our hotel we come to the Ouzoud waterfalls, well worth a stop for photos and of course a Moroccan mint tea.

Tonight we host a dinner and drinks party at the hotel.

Spend the afternoon enjoying the lovely hotel gardens and lounging by the pool. We have taken the top category rooms for participants, some of which have private pools.

Taroudant is a typically Moroccan town with its old walled medina set with the backdrop of the High Atlas.

After descending from the 2,100m pass the rally route takes you along a network of tiny roads through the foothills of Jebel Toukbal before emerging in the Ourika Valley.

Day 12: Ourika Valley (Rest Day) The Ourika Valley is located about a 1h00 drive from Marrakech. If you did feel inclined to revisit the old town the hotel will arrange transfers for you.

3 Day 6: Ouzoud to Marrakech (232km) 90 minutes after leaving our hotel we come to the Ouzoud waterfalls, well worth a stop for photos and of course a Moroccan mint tea. Today s drive is pleasant and not overly challenging. Our hotel for the next two nights is the exquisite Les Deux Tours set among the lush palmeries just outside the mayhem of the Marrakech medina. Tonight we host a dinner and drinks party at the hotel. Day 7: Marrakech (Rest Day) - Totally at your leisure, the hotel will arrange cars to take you to the Marrakech medina and a guided tour if you wish. Spend the afternoon enjoying the lovely hotel gardens and lounging by the pool. We have taken the top category rooms for participants, some of which have private pools. Day 10: Essaouira to Taroudant (243km) Today starts off easy, following the main road south before cutting into the hills on some wonderful tracks passing through La Vallée du paradis. Taroudant is a typically Moroccan town with its old walled medina set with the backdrop of the High Atlas. Day 11: Taroudant to Ourika Valley (230km) One of the driving highlights of the rally today: the Tizi n Test pass (totally paved). Sensational views to be had. After descending from the 2,100m pass the rally route takes you along a network of tiny roads through the foothills of Jebel Toukbal before emerging in the Ourika Valley. We have 2 nights at the wonderful Kasbah Bab Ourika, an oasis of calm. Drinks organised on the terrace this evening. Day 12: Ourika Valley (Rest Day) The Ourika Valley is located about a 1h00 drive from Marrakech. If you did feel inclined to revisit the old town the hotel will arrange transfers for you. Otherwise this is a perfect opportunity to work on your car and/or enjoy a day by the pool. Day 8: Marrakech to Essaouira (276km) A very relaxed drive today towards the coast and the charming fishing town of Essaouira. We stay at the Sofitel for the next two nights, set in the middle of an 18 hole golf course just a few minutes walk from the beach. The hotel provides free shuttles to the old walled medina of Essaouira 5 minute drive away. Day 9: Essaouira (Rest Day) Day 13: Ourika Valley to Skoura (256km) On the menu today is the highest road pass in northern Africa, the Tizi n Tichka at 2,260m. Shortly after reaching the top (where there is very likely to be snow), we depart the main road and enjoy a very scenic drive via Telouet and Ait Benhaddou. When we drove this last in April 2017 there were sections of dirt although this was on the whole smooth, at times smoother than the broken up tarmac. In any rate there were a great number of road building crews present and this is likely to be entirely paved when we pass through. Ait Benhaddou is a ghost village that has been turned into a movie set, featured in Game of Thrones and many others.

Day 16: Fes (Rest Day) Enjoy wandering the maze of alleyways that make up the world famous medina.

If you tire of the crowds and wish to spend another day enjoying great driving the road book contains a scenic 250km loop out through the Tazzeka National Park and back to Fes. Day 17: Fes to Tamuda Bay (345km) The route today passes through Meknes and the hill top town of Moulay Idris, both worthy stops, before continuing on through the Rif mountains to Tetouan and eventually Tamuda Bay. Overnight at the Sofitel. Day 14: Skoura to Midelt (421km) The longest day of the rally today, we drive through the Todhra gorge and some wonderfully remote parts of Morocco. The mountains we pass through still have cave-dwellers living there. This is the only day of the rally where fuel may be an issue for some of you. Shortly after emerging from the Todhra Valley there is a makeshift hut selling fuel (of unknown quality it should be said) if you need it. Of course the support crew always carry fuel and will help you out if you run dry. The landscape changes today, leaving behind the lush palmeries and valleys we have enjoyed on the four previous days, the mountains here are largely barren but nevertheless striking. Day 18: Tamuda Bay to San Martin (42km) A very easy drive up along the east coast and past the Spanish exclave of Ceuta, we take the midday ferry to Algeciras, Spain (across the bay from Gibraltar) and proceed to the lovely Monasterio de San Martin where we will spend the night. Day 15: Midelt to Fes (201km) An easy day s drive today, mostly on main roads. We stay at the Hotel Sahrai just outside the city of Fes for the next two nights. The hotel has wonderful views out over the old town. Day 19: San Martin to Seville (227km) Departing the Monasterio de San Martin we are immediately in great driving country, heading up to the Sierra de Grazalema via Jimena de la Frontera. The route meanders through the hills and eventually ends up back in Seville. Final dinner and drinks party with awards.

Crew Timothy Foate Head Mechanic We are very pleased to have Timothy Foate on the team for the Atlas Rally in the role of Head Mechanic.

Tim is a professional classic rally mechanic.

Over the years Tim has restored numerous classics, arguably the most impressive being A.C.'s Ferrari 250 GTO (pictured above).

5 Crew Timothy Foate Head Mechanic We are very pleased to have Timothy Foate on the team for the Atlas Rally in the role of Head Mechanic. This will be Tim s fourth event with us, having previously crewed on our 2008 Tiger Rally from Kuala Lumpur to Hanoi, 2016 Classic Persia Rally from Istanbul to Dubai, and the 2017 Venice Monaco. Tim is a professional classic rally mechanic. He was asked to work on his first rally through New Zealand 13 years ago and has since been involved in mechanic support on rallies through Australia, South East Asia, India, Europe, and East Africa. Over the years Tim has restored numerous classics, arguably the most impressive being A.C.'s Ferrari 250 GTO (pictured above). Among others, Tim prepared a 1929 Chrysler which won its class on the 2013 Peking to Paris. It s fair to say that Tim knows what he s talking about. Tim and Sebastien proved to be a great team and did a superb job on the 2017 Venice - Monaco, with seasoned rally participants R.B.&C.B. going so far as to say that "The mechanical support was the best we have encountered on any of our classic road trips". It s safe to say that participants on the Atlas Rally are in good hands! Sebastien Mella Assistant Mechanic A warm welcome back to Sebastien Mella who will be joining us in the role of Assistant Mechanic. This will be Sebastien s second event with us, having previously crewed on the 2017 Venice - Monaco alongside Timothy. Seb has a long-running interest in engineering and is pictured here with a 1934 Lagonda that he is in the process of rebuilding. Upon seeing the family s disused Austin Healey enter advanced stages of degradation, he decided to gain the skills needed to restore it himself and embarked upon an apprenticeship. He has now been rebuilding and restoring classics for the last two years for a firm in the south of England, specialising in Austin Healey and Frazer Nash. Adrian Epps Rally Organiser Many of you know me already from previous events, but nevertheless, hello! I have been running classic rallies since 2014 and am very passionate about what I do. Here I am driving M.H.&B.H. s sensational 1938 Derby Bentley. I will be overseeing the Atlas Rally and making sure everything goes smoothly. Keeping the number of entrants on our rallies low allows the mechanics and myself to provide you a high level of personal service.

Competition Loosely following the format of the 2017 Venice - Monaco, competition for the Atlas Rally will be light-hearted and designed to foster camaraderie without being overly taxing.

6 Competition Loosely following the format of the 2017 Venice - Monaco, competition for the Atlas Rally will be light-hearted and designed to foster camaraderie without being overly taxing. Points awarded for following the route accurately with bonus points available for taking optional side-trips or hard route options, points deducted for taking short-cuts. Each day has several checkpoints that you must pass through before a certain cut-off time, with points deducted for coming in late. Timings are relatively generous and allow time for mint tea stops, lunch, photo ops and visits to sites of interest. Running in parrallel to this will be a treasure hunt. We have buried treasure somewhere along the route. Each day there are several clues to find which if solved will lead you to the location of the treasure. The clues are all visible from the car without needing to stop or get out. The treasure is a purely symbolic item and uncovering it gains you 500 points. The winners of the Atlas Rally are the participants with the highest points score overall and will be awarded a luxurious trip for 2 to be announced at the rally briefing in Seville. Finding the treasure increases the likelihood that you will win the rally, but it is far from a certainty. If, for example, you have accrued a large number of negative points from taking short-cuts and passing checkpoints late, the points from the treasure are unlikely to secure you a win. Likewise, following the route accurately and heeding all time constraints without solving the clues will only secure you a victory if no one else manages to find the treasure! Insurance We purchase 3rd party vehicle insurance on your behalf on arrival in Morocco. This covers the minimum legal requirement for driving in Morocco. Coverage for damage/theft to your vehicle is not included so you will need to make your own arrangements. Your insurer should be able to extend cover for Morocco. If not, Tysers Automotive (Tyser & Co Ltd) are specialists in this area and we are confident that they can provide you with the cover you require. It is an invaluable bit of kit that allows us to provide higher levels of support and offers you increased security. It allows the support crew to monitor your location in real time and respond as quickly as possible in the event of an incident. You will be sent a private link to your personal tracking page. This you can share with your friends and family to allow them to follow you. Navigation The Atlas Rally is NOT written in tulips. You will be supplied with one of our GPS enabled Ipads pre-loaded with the rally tracks and waypoints. You will be introduced to navigating using the Ipad at the rally briefing in Seville.
