2 About us For over 30 years Pinelog has been the UK s leading indoor swimming pool company, designing, manufacturing and installing the finest private and commercial pools for clients nationwide. We have worked with specialists to develop a range of hydrotherapy pools for individuals, special needs schools, hospitals, private practitioners and disabled groups, incorporating the important features that ensure users derive all the psychological and physical benefits of hydrotherapy treatments. We efficiently and professionally manage each project, taking care of everything from initial site surveys, preparing planning applications, delivery and erection of the building, installation of the hydrotherapy pool, through to final commissioning. As members of The Spinal Injuries Association, Headway and The Centre for Accessible Environments, we seek to understand and interpret the needs of users in each hydrotherapy pool we design and build.

3 What are Hydrotherapy Pools? Hydrotherapy pools use the properties of warm water to provide therapeutic benefits in the treatment of injuries and impaired mobility, to relieve pain and generally promote physical wellbeing. To be most effective, hydrotherapy pools need to be sited in a pleasant and safe environment. The use of an aesthetically pleasing timber frame building helps our pools achieve this. Our pool chambers are insulated to comply with the latest Building Regulation Standards. Projects vary in size from a 6m x 3m hydrotherapy pool installed at home to a full commercial facility incorporating a 12m x 8m pool, showers, changing rooms and reception area. Pool depth is determined by use, but in general, hydrotherapy pools have a water depth between 1m and 1.5m, either flat bottomed or with a gradual slope. The temperature of the water and poolside air is generally between 32 and 37 C. Because of this heat and the vulnerability of the users, the pool circulation equipment is designed to give a minimum water turnover of one hour with the water treated by an automatic purification system. The heating and ventilation system is specially designed for each building to keep the air temperature at the desired level, provide ventilation and control the humidity. Redwood timber and other materials used in the construction provide excellent acoustic performance too.

4 Design and Build Special needs schools, hospitals and disabled groups see hydrotherapy as an essential part of the educational and therapeutic services they provide. For such groups a pool within their own grounds is often the only practical way to provide the benefits of hydrotherapy to users, on a regular basis. Pinelog has many years experience in the design and build of hydrotherapy swimming pools, offering a full turnkey service for all aspects of the project from feasibility advice through to the submission of planning documentation, development of architectural and structural designs and applications to Building Control. On site we take care of everything from excavations and foundations, pool construction, air handling systems, electrical and plumbing requirements to final commissioning of the pool and building.

5 Our hydrotherapy pool developments are available in a wide range of alternatives in terms of wall and roof structures, internal and external decor and types of fittings. Alternative finishes to roofs and external walls can be incorporated to meet customers preferences or the requirements of the local planning authority. Constructed from natural materials, Pinelog buildings integrate well into any environment. We are delighted with the new Pinelog hydrotherapy swimming pool at Portfield School which is also available for use out of school hours by children with autism and their families many of whom do not take their children swimming because of the stress associated with the experience. Consideration is given to all aspects of pool design and specialist equipment to provide maximum benefit to users and their families.

Whatever the special requirements these will be included in our designs. The pool is finished with either mosaic tiles or a specialist lining system suitable for use at high temperatures.
