18 swim filtration system with selective filtering beds Swim Filters are based on Filtr-Cleer process, featuring high velocity selective filtration. They employ a variety of minerals having different bulk densities and granule sizes so as to form a selective filtering bed. The minerals are arranged with the largest and lightest granules at the top, followed by the layers of diminishing particle size but increasingly heavier minerals. This special and exclusive arrangement, resulting from research and tests in the field over a long time, makes it possible to achieve a filtration velocity which is five times the velocity of conventional sand filters as well as an exceptional quality of filtrate. Hydro-Cleer Filters are based on the most sophisticated process for making swimming-pool water crystal clear: filtration by diatomaceous earth. The microporosity of this very fine white powder, produced from the silica-based shells of a peculiar type of microalgae, makes it possible to attain a very high degree of water clearness to the extent of 1-micron range. The technical feature which characterizes these systems is the self-cleansing Culligan filtering element. The dirty swimming-pool water is pumped through the filter and passes through the diatomaceous earth coat uniformly spread on the filtering elements. The turbidity particles are trapped in the coat and sparkling clear water is directed to the pool.
