I hope that it will continue to develop and promote which money cannot buy: friendship, health, love, faithfulness, loyalty and tolerance. The Golden Jubilee of the Swaythling Club International encourages us to look back at fifty years of promoting friendship and fairness in our beloved sport of table tennis. We take this opportunity to thank all our representatives and members who contributed to our principles. As a small gift, we offer you to experience an important part of the table tennis history please read the following pages with an article written by our late member Dick Miles from USA, published in the November 1965 issue of Sports Illustrated, the largest Sports Magazine in the World. The article features the World Championships 1936 in Prague where a number of rule changes were initiated, such as time limit, height of the net and others. It also describes the great table tennis characters Alex Ehrlich and Farkas Paneth in the athmosphere of early World Championships. In addition, please look at some memorable photos from SCI get-togethers on pages 7, 8 and 13. On the back cover page, we present you pictures of several former champions and officials all members of the Swaythling Club International, some of them unfortunately no longer with us.
