17 From the mouths of participants A selection of open response comments: 17 A bit disappointed with coaching - the coach has not had training and often stays on the side without criticising/commenting on the play (Female club member, age 25) I wish they offered competitions for amateurs as well, that would get more people into it. (Female participant, age 29) The quality of sports halls and cost of hire is seriously hampering development. Also, volleyball needs to be introduced to more schools as an alternative to mainstream sports such as football (Male club member, age 54) As a club member I think VE are doing a fantastic job with the limited resources at there disposal. I love the new VE website and this just shows the drive and determination to improve the sport and make it more accessible to all (Male club member, age 28) I would like Volleyball England to go out to the field of play and have a sense of what's happening on court and to chat to players. People tend to be more open to express themselves when they feel there is someone paying attention to what they do (Male club member, age 33) There is not enough campaigns to promote the elderly or veteran players to have comps. (Male participant, age 54)
18 Do you need more? 18 A full set of detailed data (including verbatim responses) is available in Excel format via your Sport England Relationship Manager Full methodological information can be found on the research section of the Sport England website In total 550 people (aged 14 and over) from Volleyball took part in the survey between February and May 2012; 198 general participants, 310 affiliated club members and 42 talent pool members. All satisfaction and importance scores exclude people who have said don t know for the specific question Creating sporting opportunities in every community
