3 2013 SEC VOLLEYBALL ALABAMA Crimson Tide - In the opening round of the 2013 NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament, Alabama suffered at 3-1 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners... With the loss, the Crimson Tide completed the season with a 24-9 overall record, matching a school record for the most wins in a season, tying the 1995 squad with 24 victories The Tide finished the regular season in fourth place in the SEC standings, posting the best finish for an Alabama volleyball team since finishing third in 2006 Alabama posted the best record of all teams that were previously in the SEC West Division, and its the Tide s best finish against the west division teams since the 2004 season. ARKANSAS Razorbacks - The Razorback volleyball team finished the season with a overall record after an NCAA first-round loss to Creighton in Lawrence, Kan. Against the Bluejays, senior libero Emily Helm had 29 digs and became the ninth player in program history with 1,000 career digs. The offense was paced by a pair of 11-kill efforts from senior Hayley Koop and freshman Barbara Dapic. With the release of Wednesday s AVCA All- America list, Arkansas earned a pair of Honorable Mention selections for junior Meredith Hays and senior Raymariely Santos. Other postseason accolades include AVCA All-South Region honors for Hays, Helm and Santos with Hays also earning a spot on the All-SEC Team. Hays and Santos become the eighth and ninth All-Americans in program history and the third and fourth under head coach Robert Pulliza. AUBURN Tigers - The Auburn Tigers finished the 2013 season with an overall record of 19-11, including a 10-8 mark in Southeastern Conference play Even with the SEC getting a record eight teams in the NCAA Tournament, Auburn was not selected despite a tie for sixth in the final league standings Auburn becomes just the fourth SEC team in the last 10 seasons to finish with at least 19 wins and a winning record in conference play and not be selected for the NCAA Tournament The Tigers dropped their final match of the season to Georgia, 3-1, on Nov. 27 Auburn s 10 SEC wins marked the seventh time in program history for the Tigers to hit double-digits in league victories The Tigers finished with an 8-5 record in home matches (6-3 SEC), 7-5 on the road (4-5 SEC) and 4-0 at neutral sites For the first time since the end of the 2007 season, Auburn s all-time volleyball record stands above.500 at the end of a campaign; the Tigers are (.501) in 42 seasons of intercollegiate volleyball competition Head Coach Rick Nold is over 12 seasons as a Division I head coach, including a record at Auburn Nold has had a.500 or better record in 10 of 12 years as a collegiate head coach Senior Camila Jersonsky finished her career as Auburn s all-time leader in hitting percentage (.355) Jersonsky was named to the All-SEC team and the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Senior Katherine Culwell entered Auburn s exclusive Club in the season finale as she earned her 1,000th career dig She is one of six players in Auburn history with 1,000 digs and 1,000 kills in her career Culwell finished as the team leader in kills for the season Senior libero Sarah Wroblicky finished the season with 493 digs, the Auburn single-season record, and finished fourth in Auburn history for her career with 1,238 Auburn loses six seniors and looks to return six letter-winners, including two starters, for the 2014 campaign. FLORIDA Gators - After making its 23rd consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, and 24th overall, the University of Florida volleyball team fell short in the Second Round to FSU after playing host to the Seminoles, Jacksonville and Georgia Southern in the Gainesville Sub- Regional of the Champaign Regional in the 2013 NCAA Tourney Dec The Orange and Blue closed out a stellar campaign at 28-4 overall,16-2 in the SEC, the 23rd straight 25-win season in UF history, and 23rd straight Gator season with a NCAA Tournament berth. In addition to senior Chloe Mann s NCAA record-setting senior-year successes as the career recordholder for hitting efficiency, the Gators boasted the 2013 SEC Libero of the Year in junior Taylor Unroe, three other All-SEC honorees in Mann, sophomore outside hitter Živa Recek and freshman right side Alex Holston. The quartet, along with senior setter Taylor Brauneis and sophomore middle TEAM-BY-TEAM NOTES blocker Simone Antwi went on to garner AVCA All-Southeast Region honors. Mann was the nation s leading hitter in 2013 with a.506 clip and Florida ranked second in the country in hitting efficiency (.331). Head coach Mary Wise eclipsed win No. 700 at the helm of the Florida program (714-84) and will enter the 2014 volleyball campaign just five wins shy of career win No. 800 ( ). GEORGIA Bulldogs - The Georgia volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to the American Eagles in the First Round of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C. Georgia ended its season with a record, the most wins for a Georgia squad since It was Georgia's first NCAA Tournament appearance since The 2013 season was one of the best in recent history for the Bulldogs, as it reached the 20- win plateau for the first time since 2002 and has the most wins since 1994 when Georgia went 26-9 and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The 11 SEC wins are the most since KENTUCKY Wildcats - The Kentucky volleyball team earned a school-record ninth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth in All under head coach Craig Skinner, the Wildcats are one of just 13 programs to have been to the Big Dance each of the last nine years. With a win over Duquesne in the first round, UK advanced to the second round for the third season in a row, also a school record. UK went 22-9 and 13-5 in the Southeastern Conference in The Wildcats, who finished third in the league, posted 20 wins for the third straight year and sixth time in the past seven seasons. Kentucky won a five-set thriller over Louisville in addition to an upset win over No. 4 Minnesota, both within the friendly confines of Memorial Coliseum. The victory over the Gophers was the biggest upset in Skinner s tenure in Lexington. Kentucky s win on Nov. 17 at Ole Miss marked the 200th win of Skinner s career. With 202 wins, he is the school s second all-time winningest coach and sits just seven wins shy of tying the all-time wins mark at UK. The Blue and White have amassed 17 or more victories in all nine seasons of Skinner s tenure. Seniors Whitney Billings and Alexandra Morgan capped their collegiate careers by hauling in All- America accolades. Billings was selected to the second team for the second time in her career, while Morgan claimed honorable mention honors. The duo extends UK s all-time honors to 20 in program history with 15 of those accolades coming under the direction of head coach Craig Skinner. LSU Tigers - LSU was one of five SEC programs to advance to the second round of the 2013 NCAA Volleyball Tournament. The Tigers upended 2012 NCAA Final Four participant and No. 24 Michigan in five sets before dropping a four-set decision to 2013 NCAA Final Four qualifier and No. 3 Washington at the NCAA Seattle Regional. Briana Holman picked up AVCA All-South Region honors, the AVCA s South Region Freshman of the Year award and was the first freshman in program history to collect AVCA All- American Honorable Mention status. The Tigers have had eight players secure AVCA All-American accolades since LSU rallied from a two-set deficit for the fourth time in 2013 against the Wolverines. It also was the Tigers ninth five-set triumph of the season equaling the 1985 squad for a single-season record. The victory over Michigan ended an 18-match losing streak to AVCA Top 25 opponents which dated back to the 2010 season. LSU carried its momentum into the Round of 32 and took the opening set from Pac 12 champions and No. 3 Washington. The Huskies came back behind Krista Vansant, the Pac 12 Player of the Year. She connected for 24 kills and a.370 hitting percentage. It was the final match for Desiree Elliott, the 2010 SEC Freshman of the Year, in a LSU uniform. She wrapped up her career with 1,182 kills and 375 blocks. The 1,182 kills are good enough for 13th on the program s all-time list. Holman made an instant impact on the program with 3.01 kills and an SEC-best 1.54 blocks per set. The 1.54 blocks per set also ranked fifth nationally first among freshmen. Holman s 200 total blocks are fourth-most for a single season only behind Stacey Samuels (1985 & 1986) and Lisa Smith (1986). Pardo finished her junior campaign with 1,399 assists, ninth most in program history for a single season. Smith amassed 500 digs and is one of five players in program history to accomplish that feat. LSU has earned 190 victories sparked by five 20-win seasons since 2005 and are one of 29 programs to appear in at least seven NCAA Tournaments during the last nine seasons.

4 2013 SEC VOLLEYBALL TEAM-BY-TEAM NOTES OLE MISS Rebels - Ole Miss sent its seniors, Kellie Goss and Kara Morgan, out on a high note Nov. 27. The Rebels, led by a single-match program record 61 assists from freshman setter Aubrey Edie, topped LSU 3-2 (25-23, 25-23, 20-25, 21-25, 16-14) at the Gillom Sports Center on Senior Night. Goss had one of the best matches of her career, finishing with a season-high 10 kills, two block assists and a season-high two solo blocks. Morgan had seven kills of her own to go along with a dozen digs, the second highest total on the team. Edie, a native of Fayetteville, Ark., shined throughout the match in her record-breaking performance. The SEC s freshman assists leader passed out 10 or more assists in each set, including a whopping 15 in the second set. Edie also recorded a team-high and career-high tying 16 digs for her team-high eighth double-double of the season, which is tied for the second most in the SEC among rookies. Freshman right side hitter Melanie Crow and sophomore middle blocker Nakeyta Clair each recorded 18 kills to lead the Ole Miss attack. Sophomore middle blocker Ty Laporte was close behind with 16 kills on an impressive.500 hitting percentage. In all, four Rebels finished with double-digit kills, and five Rebels had double-digit digs. Ole Miss (14-17, 4-14 SEC) was led throughout the 2013 season by Clair, who was first on the team in kills (2.64 kills per set), hitting percentage (.289) and blocks (1.14 blocks per set). Clair put together one of the best blocking seasons at Ole Miss in the rally scoring era. The Country Club Hills, Ill., native broke the program s single-season record for block assists (105) and total blocks (130), and finished second in solo blocks (25). Edie passed out 949 assists this season (9.21 per set), which is the fourth highest total in single-season history at Ole Miss during the rally scoring era, and the highest mark ever by a rookie at Ole Miss. Morgan closed out her career with 117 matches played, including starts in all but eight of those matches. Morgan s name can be found in the program s career top-10 in kills, attempts, digs and service aces. MISSISSIPPI STATE Bulldogs - Mississippi State finished the 2013 season with a ledger and tied for the most wins during the five-year Jenny Hazelwood era The Bulldogs defended their home court with the second-most home wins in school history (8) Likewise, MSU posted the most nonconference wins (9) since the 2006 squad downed 11 nonconference foes State drew 7,399 fans to the Newell-Grissom Building on the year, a new single-season record for the facility, and added three of the program s top- 10 single-match crowds In an ESPNU televised match against Ole Miss, a program second-best 1,633 fans were in attendance, which is also a school record for an SEC match Sophomore libero Roxanne McVey and freshman opposite Kimmy Gardiner became the first two players in the program s 39-year history to earn a spot on the AVCA All-American lists as honorable mentions The duo are also the first Bulldogs to earn AVCA All- Region Selections MSU garnered four weekly awards from the Southeastern Conference this season as Gardiner was twice named Freshman of the Week, McVey was named Defensive Player of the Week and Taylor Scott was named Offensive Player of the Week Prior to the 2013 season, MSU had previously only won eight total weekly awards McVey tied her current SEC record of 5.64 digs per set on the season and broke the MSU single-season record with 632 digs She is also currently eighth all-time in career digs with 1,190 Gardiner was selected to the SEC All-Freshman team, marking the third-consecutive year Hazelwood has guided a Bulldog to the recognition The Bulldogs swept South Carolina and Tennessee in back-to-back matches on Oct. 18 and 20 for the first consecutive sweeps against conference opponents in school history State would later beat the Volunteers again to conclude the season and secure MSU s first road win against UT since MISSOURI Tigers - The No. 4 Mizzou volleyball team saw its season come to a close as it fell, 3-1, to Purdue in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers finished the season 35-1 overall. The loss brought to a close the careers of seniors Molly Kreklow and Lisa Henning, who finished with 97 wins over their four-year career, the winningest four-year stretch in the NCAA Tournament era. Mizzou became the first-ever SEC team to finish the regular season unbeaten (34-0). The Tigers claimed an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament after winning the SEC outright with an 18-0 mark. The SEC Title was the first ever for Mizzou in any sport and the school s first-ever volleyball league title. Kreklow was named SEC Player of the Year, the first-ever Tiger to win a conference POTY. Wayne Kreklow was named the SEC Coach of the Year and the AVCA Southeast Region Coach of the Year. Carly Kan was named SEC Freshman of the Year by the league s coaches, the first Tiger to win FOTY since Missouri finished the year leading the nation in hitting percentage with a.356 clip. The Tigers also led the nation in kills per set (15.29), assists per set (14.56) and best team winning percentage (.972). SOUTH CAROLINA Gamecocks - The Gamecocks wrapped up their season with a three-set loss at Texas A&M. South Carolina finished the year at overall and 3-15 in SEC play. Senior outside hitter Juliette Thévenin fell one kill shy of a double-double in her final match, finishing with nine kills and 13 digs. She recorded her 1,000th career dig during the match, becoming just the second Gamecock of record to record more than 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career. She finished her four years with 1,590 kills and 1,012 digs. Thévenin leaves South Carolina listed in the top 10 in six career categories, ranking third in kills, second in kills per set, second in attacks, ninth in digs, fourth in points and third in points per set. Sophomore middle blocker Darian Dozier added three kills and two block assists. With the two block assists, Dozier matched South Carolina's rally-scoring era single-season block assist record with 107. TENNESSEE Lady Volunteers - Tennessee finished the 2013 season after falling in a four-set match to Mississippi State. Senior libero Ellen Mullins recorded 15 digs in the match as she broke the Tennessee record for most digs in a singleseason during the 25-point rally scoring era with her season total of 640 digs. The Nashville native already owns two other spots on the list as she dug up 541 balls in 2012 and 471 scoops in 2011, which rank fourth and sixth on the chart, respectively. The All-American inked her name at the top of UT s record chart for all-time career digs on Nov. 20 against Florida, when she surpassed Chloe Goldman s record of 1,755 career scoops. With her total digs against the Bulldogs, Mullins finished her career as a Lady Vol with 1,801 career digs. Mullins set six Tennessee records during the 2013 season as she broke UT all-time career digs (1,801), all-time single-season digs (640), most digs in three sets during 25-point rally scoring era (28), four sets during 25-point rally scoring era (32), five sets during 25-point rally scoring era (37), and all-time season digs per set (5.61). In her final match donning the Orange & White, senior Whitney Heeres put down a team-best and career-high 15 kills with one solo block. She finishes the season third on the team in kills with 244 for a 2.26 average and third in blocks with 59 on the year for a 0.55 average. Junior Nikki Brice has played in every single match since she came to UT in 2011, amounting to 94 matches. She s just the fourth player since 2001 to play in every match of her career. Sophomore setter Lexi Dempsey tallied 16 double-doubles this season, a mark that is third-best in the league in overall games. The Lady Vols concluded the year with a 9-23 overall record and went 1-17 in league play. TEXAS A&M Aggies - Texas A&M (19-12) won eight of its final 10 matches and made its third consecutive NCAA second-round appearance, making A&M one of only 10 programs in the nation to reach at least the second round 17 or more times since Aggie head coach Laurie Corbelli was hired in The Aggies swept UTSA, 3-0, in the opening round and then fell to defending national champion and No. 1 seed Texas, 3-1, in the second round in Austin, Texas. Senior setter Allie Sawatzky was named AVCA Honorable Mention All-America for the second consecutive year. The multidimensional lefty, who started every match of her four-year career (123), led the SEC with six triple-doubles (assists, kills, digs) and 21 double-doubles for the full season and finished her career ranked third in the A&M records with 4,547 assists and 10th in points with The end of the season also concluded the collegiate careers for defensive specialists/liberos Kelsey Kinley and Heather Reynolds, defensive specialist/setter Mariah Agre and outside hitter Ashley Vrana. Sophomore middle blocker Shelby Sullivan and redshirt freshman middle blocker Jazzmin Babers, who each started every match and played in every set, were named to the AVCA Honorable Mention All-South Region Team. Sullivan hit.386 for the full season, ranking second in the A&M season records, and Babers ranked sixth in school season annals with 128 block assists.

5 2013 SEC VOLLEYBALL PRESEASON ALL-SEC TEAM The Southeastern Conference released its volleyball preseason All-SEC team on Aug. 9, tipping off another season of SEC volleyball. Seven different schools are represented on the nine-member team, which is voted on by the league s head coaches. No ties were broken. Florida and Missouri led all schools with two selections each. Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina and Texas A&M each had a student-athlete named to the team. Eight of the nine players selected were named All-SEC First or Second Team in In all, 20 different players received votes for the preseason team. 11 2013 SEC VOLLEYBALL UF s Mann Named Finalist for 2013 Senior CLASS Award List Ten NCAA women s volleyball student-athletes who excel both on and off the court were selected as finalists on October 31 for the 2013 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate volleyball. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence community, classroom, character and competition. A complete list of finalists follows this release. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. The finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of 30 candidates announced in August. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote on the Senior CLASS Award website through December 9. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches votes to determine the winner. It marked the 24th consecutive season in which the SEC has featured at least two teams in the NCAA Tournament. Missouri captured its first SEC volleyball championship in just its second year as a member of the league. The Tigers posted the first undefeated regular season in SEC history at SEC student-athletes earned four AVCA All-America honors in 2013 as Missouri s Lisa Henning and Molly Kreklow, and Florida s Chloe Mann earned first-team honors, while Kentucky s Whitney Billings was a second-team selection. The SEC has boasted at least three AVCA All-America selections each year for five consecutive seasons. The SEC has had 66 total AVCA All-Americans (First, Second or Third Team) all time. Nineteen SEC student-athletes earned AVCA Honorable Mention All-America honors in The 2013 All-SEC teams had 11 of 13 schools represented. The SEC, in 2013, had three teams finish in the top- 25 of the final AVCA Coaches Poll. The SEC has had at least two teams in the final AVCA top-25 poll each year since Two SEC student-athletes - Auburn s Camila Jersonsky and Chelsea Wintzinger - earned Capital One Academic All-America honors for their excellence on the court and in the classroom. Florida extended the nation s longest streak of consecutive 25-win seasons to 23. Five student-athletes were named to Capital One Academic All-District teams in 2013 for a total of 75 all time. Florida middle blocker Chloe Mann became both the SEC and NCAA all-time career leader in hitting percentage with a.476 clip.
