This season, XU leads the A-10 and the country with a field goal percentage defense of **The NCAA record for single-season field goal percentage defense is 31.5 percent, established by UConn during the season.** Season FG% Def. A-10 Rank st st nd th **Additionally, Xavier has held all but three opponents under their season field goal shooting average.** Avoiding the Big 50 The Musketeers have been especially tough for opponents to score on this year as XU has held the opposition under 50 points a record 15 times this year. XU is first in the A-10 and fifth in the country with a scoring defense of 51.7 points per game. The previous record for holding opponents under 50 points was established during the season when the team turned the trick seven times. Harris was placed on the All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive year while fellow Indianapolis native Ta Shia Phillips was placed on the All-Conference Second Team and as the Rookie of the Year. This marks the second straight year a Musketeer has been honored as the Rookie of the Year as Harris took home the award in Additionally, junior Tudy Reed was picked as the A-10 Sixth Player of the Year. This marks the third time in four years a Musketeer has been selected as the Sixth Player of the Year as Michele Miller (2005) and Joei Clyburn (2006) were also recognized. Amber Harris out at Least Three Months With Injured Knee Xavier women s basketball junior Preseason All-American Amber Harris will miss three to four months after having a surgical procedure performed on her left knee on Friday, October 24. Amber Harris underwent a surgical procedure today on her left knee, said Dr. Robert Burger of Beacon Orthopedics. She had a piece of displaced cartilage removed and a graft put in place to address an osteochondral defect. It is anticipated that she will need three to four months of healing time. Her long-term prognosis is very good. I couldn t be more disappointed for Amber, said head coach Kevin McGuff. She has worked extremely hard and had put herself in position to be among the best players in the country. I am pleased that the procedure was a success and I look forward to supporting Amber during the rehabilitation process. In the meantime, our team will continue to work towards achieving the goals that we have set and will remain hopeful that Amber can impact us at some point this year. Harris averaged 15.3 points and 8.9 rebounds per game for the Musketeers during the season and led the team to back-to-back Atlantic 10 Championships. Harris was honored as a Preseason Second Team All-American selection by The Sporting News and also was placed on the Mid-Major All-American First Team by Women s Basketball Magazine.
