McGuff is the first coach to lead Xavier to four consecutive postseason appearances in his/her first four years at XU and the 80 wins accumulated in his first four years are the most by any XU coach. McGuff s record at Xavier now stands at (.684). McGuff Moves Up A-10 Charts Fifth-year head coach Kevin McGuff is bolting up a couple of lists after leading XU to an 11-5 conference record last season. McGuff is in ninth place on the alltime Atlantic 10 winning percentage list (regular season games only). McGuff has a record of in A-10 regular season games since the season for a winning percentage of.692. Joe McKeown (GW) and Dawn Staley (Temple) are the only other two active A-10 coaches with better winning percentages in regular season play (min. 30 wins). McGuff now sits in 15 th place, after just four seasons, on the A-10 wins list (regular season games only) with 54. XU vs. West Virgnia The Musketeers are 1-2 all-time vs. the Mountaineers but have not played WVU since the season. XU won that decision on December 8, Xavier is all-time vs. teams currently playing in the BIG EAST Conference. Musketeers in the A-10 Final With their win vs. Saint Joe s on March 5, the Musketeers claimed their third Atlantic 10 Conference Championship, won its third A-10 Championship Game in-a-row and improved to 3-1 all-time in the A-10 Championship Game. Xavier in the A-10 Final Year Opponent Result 2007 Saint Joe s W, George Washington W, George Washington W, Saint Joe s L, Clyburn, Harris Earn All-Tourney Status Senior forward Joei Clyburn was selected as the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championship MVP after she averaged 14.7 points per game, 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting 50 percent from the floor and 78.9 percent from the charity stripe in XU s three tournament wins. Clyburn is the third Musketeer to be named tournament MVP, Nicole Levandusky (2000) and Jennifer Phillips (2001) also earned the honor. Freshman forward Amber Harris was voted onto the All-Tournament team, marking the 10th time a Musketeer has been placed on the squad. Harris averaged 15.0 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game while shooting 84.6 percent from the free throw line (all were team-bests). XU as a No. 6 Seed Xavier is 0-1 all-time as a No. 6 seed in the. XU lost to No. 11 Stephen F. Austin in the First Round of the East Regional in XU in the Xavier will be making its sixth appearance in the and is 4-5 all-time in the tourney. This year XU played a record eight schools from the power conferences, besting the previous record of five set during the season. XU is vs. BCS schools since Kevin McGuff was named head coach prior to the season and finished the season at 5-3 vs. the power conferences. 7 XU on a 10 Game Winning Streak The Musketeers have put together a 10- game winning streak, marking the first time XU has won 10 games in-a-row since the season. Xavier put together a 21-game winning streak that year, winning every game from January 12 - March 26. The current streak is the third longest all time as Xavier won 11 games in-a-row during the season. Home Streak Still Breathing XU has not lost consecutive home games in a span of 50 games. The last time XU lost consecutive home games came on November 27 and December 4, 2004 when Xavier lost to Auburn (55-53) and Maryland (74-72) respectively. 20 Win Notes Xavier won its 20th game of the season on 2/15 at Richmond, marking the 10th time the Musketeers have reached the 20-win plateau. The win was also XU s third consecutive 20-win season, marked the second straight year Xavier has won 20 regular season games and marked the fourth time in five years that Kevin McGuff has recorded 20 wins. Xavier has won at least 20 games in seven of the last nine years. XU tied the team for the second-most regular season wins in program history with 23. Harris has since extended that record to 131 blocks. Taru Tuukkanen blocked 39 shots during the season to set the previous mark. Harris is third in the country at 4.0 blocks per game. Harris Re-Writes Xavier Records Amber Harris is putting her mark on the Xavier record book already. Harris has set a new freshman scoring mark with 534 points, established a new single-season rebounding record of 293 boards and has set new single-game, single-season and career blocked shots records regardless of class. Xavier on St. Patrick s Day The Musketeers are 1-3 all-time on St. Patrick s Day, with their only win coming in last year s WNIT. XU defeated South Carolina by a score in a First Round game at Cintas Center. XU is 0-2 on St. Patrick s Day in play. It also marked the eighth time ever that XU has won at least 10 conference games. Xavier went 11-5 in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference during the season. Career Night for Granderson Senior guard Suntana Granderson netted a career-high 30 points on 13-of-17 shooting vs. Penn State on December 7. The PSU game marked the first time Granderson had reached the 30-point mark and was the 16th time Granderson had reached the 20-point plateau. Second Half Shootout vs. UC Xavier scored 55 points in the second half of its comeback win over intracity rival Cincinnati on January 17. The 55 second-half points marked the most scored in any half since Kevin McGuff took over as head coach prior to the season and was the thirdhighest point total in any half in XU history. The Xavier record for most points scored in a half is 60, established on December 1, 1992 vs. Morehead State. XU scored 58 second-half points vs. Notre Dame on February Xavier has now won the last three Crosstown Shootouts by an average of 25 points. State on 1/7) and the Musketeers are an astounding 33-5 in those contests. XU is 27-3 since the start of the season when Miller scores in double figures (15-2 this season). Miller Time at the Free Throw Line Michele Miller ran her streak of consecutive free throws made to 24 before she finally missed one during the second half of the Coppin State game on December 10. In Xavier s last 31 games, Miller is 92-for- 104 from the charity stripe, scorching the nets at an 88.5 percent clip.
