The participating teams scheduled for the event are UIC, UMKC and UTEP. Omaha is slated to play two matches on Friday against UMKC (12:30 p.m.) and UIC (7:30 p.m.), followed by a 4 p.m. matchup against UTEP on Saturday. In total, there are six matches with four on the first day and two on the second. All Omaha matches will be streamed live on OMavs.com and are available for free. MavRadio will also broadcast all Omaha matches for the tournament.

Isabella Sade was named to the New Orleans Invitational AllTournament Team averaging of 1.90 kills per set on.341 hitting and 1.0 blocks per set. A multitude of newcomers saw action over the weekend that included Jaclyn Taylor, Claire Leonard, Courtney Morehead, Sydney Case, Sadie Limback, Kenzie Michalek and Maggie Meyer. Canisius transfer Claire Leonard leads the team with 3.10 kills per set after a debut performance of 15 kills against New Orleans (Aug. 24). Freshman setter Sydney Case recorded backtoback 25plus assist performances with 28 against Murray State and 32 against Houston. The Mavericks have an alltime record of 781 against the three upcoming opponents in the series history. UIC, UMKC and UTEP went a combined 62 over last weekend. Omaha aims to go undefeated at its own home tournament for the first time in the D1 era and since 2009, where that team went 40. In program's history, the Mavericks have nine undefeated home tournament records in 2009, 2000, 1999, 1996, 1995, 1994, 1992, 1991 and UIC is the first of four Illinois teams the Mavericks will play this season. The others are Bradley, Eastern Illinois and Western Illinois (Summit League). UMKC is the only team from the state of Missouri on the Mavericks' 2018 schedule, while UTEP is the second of three Texas team on the schedule this season. Scouting the UIC Flames The UIC Flames are currently one of 72 teams across the nation to have an undefeated record at 30. This past weekend, the team did not relinquish a single set at its own home invitational in Chicago, Ill. (UIC Invitational). The Flames swept Bryant University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Central Michigan 30 in all three matches. UIC is led by secondyear head coach Justin Ingram, who has a 2013 record at the school and a overall career record. Omaha and UIC have only faced once before at the Bradley Tournament in Peoria, Ill. on Aug. 26, The Flames won 31 in that meeting. UIC has three players that average over two kills per set in Kiera James (2.86), Alexandra Hicks (2.13) and Ali Witt (2.00). Marija Borcic averages 6.00 assists per set while Tatyana Ndewke, Hicks and Witt average 1.56, 1.38 and 1.00 blocks per set, respectively.

UMKC defeated Summit League member South Dakota State 30, Western Michigan 31, before it fell to Austin Peay 23. Middle hitter Tyrecia Lukes is the current WAC Offensive Player of the Week for her performance over the seasonopening tournament. She was also named to the AllTournament team after averaging 5.00 kills per set on.542 hitting. Lukes is coming off a careerhigh 25kill performance. The Miners opened the season with a 31 victory over Incarnate Word, before 03 and 13 defeats at Tulane and Louisiana. Head coach Holly Watts is in her sixth season at the helm of the program with a overall record at the school. The Mavericks own a 20 record over the Miners, and have not faced them since Nov. 1213, Omaha won both matches 21 in three sets. Both matches were played in Omaha, Neb. at the UNO Invitational. Macey Austin leads the team with 3.91 kills per set, followed by three others who average over two kills per set in Cheyenne Jones (2.88), Ashley Grzebeniak (2.50) and Briana Arellano (2.22). Kristen Fritsche averages 9.73 assists per set while Grzebeniak averages a teambest 6.00 digs per set. Austin also ranks in the top100 nationally in three different categories. She ranks 31st in points per set 33rd in kills per set and 41st in attacks per set. Facing the Alma Mater Omaha head coach Rose Shires was a fiveyear member and served as team captain for three years while being named MVP twice for the UTEP volleyball team. She graduated from UTEP in 1985 with her bachelor's degree in education and earned her master's degree in exercise science from Omaha in Local Opposition UMKC sophomore setter Alli Schomers is a native of Omaha, Neb., after a playing career at Skutt Catholic High School. The Mavericks fell 13 at New Orleans on Aug. 24 and fell 03 in both matches against Murray State and Houston the following day. In her debut match, transfer Claire Leonard recorded a teamhigh 15 kills on.295 hitting to go with four blocks against Houston. Setter Jaclyn Taylor had a teambest 21 assists, while Claire Mountjoy and Courtney Morehead recorded 12 and 10 digs, respectively. The duo of Abby Bergsten and Sadie Limback tallied eight kills each. Freshman setter Sydney Case led the way for the Mavericks with 28 assists and two blocks against Murray State. Outside hitter Claire Leonard paced Omaha in kills for the second straight match, as she had nine. Isabella Sade followed with eight kills on.667 hitting. Against Houston, Case outperformed her previous best of 28 assists with a new careerhigh of 32 to go with five digs. Bergsten and Limback both had eight kills apiece, while Leonard totaled seven kills and Sade added six. What Makes Up the Mavericks Omaha's 2018 roster consists of six returners and 11 newcomers. The Mavericks return 67.9 percent of its total attacking offense, as the six returners accounted for 906 of the team's 1,334 kills from The team also returns 69.3 percent of its total blocking from the previous season, as the returners accounted for 274 of the 2017 roster's 395 total kills. The roster consists of two seniors, two juniors, seven sophomores and eight freshmen. Omaha's roster includes studentathletes from seven different states: Nebraska, (6), Minnesota (3), Iowa (3), Illinois (2), Missouri (1), Utah (1) and Colorado (1). Omaha returns senior Mackenzie Horkey who is the returning leader in matches played, sets played, total attacks, kills, digs, aces, assisted blocks and doubledoubles. Isabella Sade (1.04 b/s, 2.33 k/s) enters her sophomore season after a freshman campaign earning Summit League Freshman of the Year, AllSummit League Honorable Mention and AllFreshman team honors in the conference. Senior Abby Bergsten (2.90 k/s, 1.09 d/s) also earned AllSummit League Honorable Mention honors. The sophomore duo of Anna Blaschko (1.97 k/s, 1.03 b/s) and Claire Mountjoy (4.67 d/s) are both coming off Summit League AllFreshman team awards. Below is a look at how UNO has stacked up as a team in each of its Division I seasons since : Record Hitting Percentage Per Set Per Set Per Set Per Set Per Set New Kids on the Block The Mavericks' roster features a wide array of newcomers for the 2018 season that includes three transfers and eight freshmen. Jaclyn Taylor, Courtney Morehead and Claire Leonard join Omaha as transfer studentathletes from Creighton, Drake and Canisius College. Taylor was a threeyear letterwinner at St. Charles North High School, where she was a secondteam allstate honoree as a senior. She also earned allconference honors while averaging 8.5 assists per set as a senior, a season in which her team went 344. Her squad also won three straight Upstate 8 Conference titles and two regional championships. Morehead, a rising junior, played in 27 matches as a sophomore at Drake, ranking sixth in the MVC and first on her team for aces per set. For the season, she averaged 2.93 digs and 0.24 aces per set and had a standout 26dig performance vs. Bryant. As a freshman, Morehead appeared in 21 matches, averaging 1.5 digs per set and nearly 2.0

As a freshman at Canisius, she led her team with 3.08 kills per set and was named to the 2017 AllMAAC Rookie Team. Leonard was a threetime MAAC Rookie of the Week and ranked fifth in the conference for kills per set and total kills (308), as well as fourth for points per set. She had 15 doublefigure kill performances last season, including a careerhigh 22 kills vs. Iona. The team also includes a freshman class of eight with outside hitters Alexa Blase (Grand Island, Neb.), Maggie Meyer (Chicago, Ill.), Baylee Mittelstaedt (Farmington, Utah), defensive specialists Giselle Eiche (Arvada, Colo.) and Kenzie Michalek (Papillion, Neb.), right side hitter Sadie Limback (Waverly, Mo.), setter Sydney Case (Lakeville, Minn.) and middle blocker Rylee Marshall (Fort Calhoun, Neb.). Mavericks Tabbed Third In Summit League Preseason Poll The Omaha volleyball program was selected third in The Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league office announced Thursday, Aug. 16. The thirdplace selection marks the highest preseason Summit League ranking in program history for the Mavericks, as the sophomore trio of Isabella Sade, Claire Mountjoy and Anna Blaschko were also selected as Preseason Players to Watch. Last season, Sade became the first player in program history to earn Summit League Freshman of the Year honors, to go with her Summit League AllFreshman Team and AllSummit Honorable Mention awards. She also ranked second in the league with 1.04 blocks per set and started 27 of 28 matches in Mountjoy was named to The Summit League AllFreshman Team last season. With 458 total digs and 4.67 digs per set, she ranked third among league players in both categories. She also tallied eight matches of 20 or more digs and two with 30 or more in Blascko also garnered AllFreshman honors after she led The Summit League with 17 solo blocks on the season and ranked second in the league with 59 total blocks. At middle blocker, she averaged 1.97 kills and 1.03 blocks per set. Inside the 2018 Schedule Omaha's 2018 campaign features a nonleague slate with teams from eight different conferences across 10 different states that include: American, Big 12, Conference USA, Horizon League, OVC, Pac 12, Southland and WAC. The Mavericks play a total of 28 different matches that includes a 12match nonleague slate. Omaha plays five opponents for the first time in series history in Houston, Oregon State, North Texas, Milwaukee and Eastern Illinois. Overall, the Mavericks have a combined overall record against opponents on the 2018 slate. Within league play, Omaha has a overall record that spans prior to the nondivision I era. Shires Guides Mavericks as Winningest Coach in School History Head coach Rose Shires is the alltime winningest coach in 48 years of UNO volleyball history. In her 29th year at the helm of the Maverick program, Shires owns a career record of (.561), with the most wins of the five coaches who have served at Omaha. The 1996 AVCA National Coach of the Year and a twotime conference coach of the year, Shires has enjoyed tremendous success as UNO s guide. The 1996 campaign saw her lead UNO to a national championship as well as its first North Central Conference championship since 1987, followed by an Elite Eight appearance in In NCAA Tournament play, Shires squads have combined for 11 appearances and a 1010 postseason mark. Shires is assisted by assistant coach Elena Pietro, who is in her fourth season, assistant coach Micah Rhodes, in his second year, volunteer assistant coach Gina Mancuso, who is in her second year and Makayla Westphal, who is in her first year with the Maverick staff. No Longer the Newcomers In , Omaha is in its fourth year with full Summit League and NCAA Division I postseason eligibility. The Mavericks competed as a reclassifying Division I school from , and they officially joined the Summit League in During the reclassification period, UNO was ineligible for the league tournament and NCAA postseason play, but played a full regularseason conference schedule in its final three transitional years before assuming full eligibility in Up Next Omaha hits the road for its third straight tournament of the regular season in Manhattan, Kan. at the KState Invitational from Sept. 78.
