1 THE PARC CO-ED VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE SAND VOLLEYBALL RULES & REGULATIONS SPORTSMANSHIP All players must play with the highest level of sportsmanship and respect. Profanity, fighting and unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. The PARC will not tolerate any rude behavior to officials, the opposing team, and your own team members under any circumstances. Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in a player being ejected from the game. Any ejection may result in further suspension from participation in current and/or future leagues at The PARC. Ejected players are required to leave The PARC s premises immediately. Refusal to leave the premises may result in a team forfeit and/or suspension. Any complaints or disputes in regards to the official s handling of a game or ejection can be communicated with the league director after the day of the game in which the incident took place. On the day of the incident, the official s decision will be considered final and disputes will not be addressed by the league director. No smoking or alcoholic beverages are allowed on The PARC s property (including parking lot). You are responsible for cleaning up after your team and your friends and family in attendance. TEAM ROSTER AND WAIVERS Teams are allowed a maximum of 10 players on their team roster. All players must be 16 years or older to participate in the league. The PARC s league director and staff have the right to request ID from any player during the season. Players can only play for 1 team for the duration of a season. Teams can add players throughout the season, but players must play a minimum of two games in order to participate in the playoffs. All players must sign the team waiver in order to participate in the league. Players who are not on the original team roster will still be required to sign a waiver before participating in a game. Team captains are responsible to ensure all players that play on their team have signed the waiver prior to their game.

2 TEAM UNIFORMS Team uniforms are required for each game. Any player not wearing his/her uniform will not be allowed to play in that game. The entire t-shirt/uniform must be visible to officials at all times. Names, numbers, cut-off sleeves and etc. are permitted as long as they do not obstruct any logos originally printed on the t-shirts/uniform. The PARC can provide temporary uniforms if requested by the team before their scheduled game. TEAMS All teams will be given a 5 minute grace period for all games. If a team does not possess the minimum amount of players to start (minimum of 5 players needed with at least one player being female) the grace period has expired, the opposing team will receive a win for the first game of the match. If the team does not possess the minimum number of players after 15 minutes past the game time, a forfeit will be assessed. Teams may use the game time to play pick-up games, but the opposing team will still receive the match win. There is no limit on the number of males or females that can be on the volleyball court at a time. The 6 th player arriving after the start of the game may enter the game when it is their team s turn to serve. The 6 th player will be inserted into the rotation as the next server for their team after the player due to serve. GAME EQUIPMENT AND WARM-UP The PARC will provide the teams with all necessary equipment for their volleyball warm-up and game. The PARC will provide the game volleyball for the match, but teams can choose to use a different volleyball if both teams approve of the ball. Teams may bring volleyballs for practice. Please note that the time between games is limited, but The PARC will allow a minimum of three minutes for warm-up before each game. START OF GAME The captains for both teams will meet at the volleyball net to play Rock/Paper/Scissors to determine serve or side. The teams will play best two out of three wins. The winner will pick either serve or side. Teams will rotate sides and serve after the completion of each game. There will be a pre-game and post-game prayer for each match. The team that wins the Rock/Paper/Scissors will lead the pre-game prayer and the opposing team will lead the postgame prayer.

3 SCORING All games will be played using rally scoring where points will be awarded regardless of which team is serving. Each match will consist of the best of 3 games. The first 2 games will be played to 25 points and the third game will be played to 15 points. For the first two games, play continues until a team scores 25 points with a two point advantage or until a two point advantage is reached after both teams have scored 25 points. For the third game, play continues to 15 points with a two point advantage or until a two point advantage is reached after both teams have scored 15 points. The team that wins two games first shall be declared the winner. Teams may play a third consolation game if a winner has already been declared and time permits. SUBSTITUTIONS Substitutions can only be made at the service position in the rotation, i.e. the substitute becomes the server. All substituting players must be behind the end line. If a team illegally substitutes a player (not replaced at the service position), that team will lose their serve immediately. All players must relocate to their original position. After each side out, players must rotate clockwise from the front right to back right position. GAMEPLAY The ball is considered in when it touches the sand within the opposing team s playing area, including the boundary lines. A ball is considered out when the part of the ball which contacts the sand is completely outside the boundary line, touches any object outside the court, or touches the rope, post, net, etc., outside of the sidelines. A team is entitled to a maximum of three hits (in addition to blocking) for returning the ball. If more are used, the team commits a 4 hit violation. Hits include unintentional hits. A player may not hit the ball two times consecutively. The ball may touch any part of the body. The ball must be hit, not caught and/or thrown. The ball may touch various parts of the body only if they are touched simultaneously. TIMEOUTS Each team is allowed two 30 second timeouts per game. Timeouts do not carryover between games. TEAM STANDING POINTS The winning team will be awarded two points in the standing. The losing team will not be awarded any points in the standing. There will be no tied games.

4 RULE VIOLATIONS The following violations will result in a side out: - Illegal substitution (see above in the Substitutions and Timeouts section) - 4 hit violation (see above in the Gameplay section) - Illegal touch (catch/throw/double contact) - Lift Violation - Prolonged contact between a player and the ball is known as a lift. The contact should continue in one fluid motion and the ball should not come to rest at any time in that motion. RULES AT THE NET A ball sent to the opponent s court must travel over the net. The ball may touch the net, including on the service. A ball driven into the net may be recovered within the limits of the team s 3 legal hits, except on the service. If the ball touches the net on a service and continues over to the opponent's side, the ball is considered live. A player cannot break the plane of the net on a spike and a block. A player may go completely under the net as long as they neither touch the net nor interfere with the play. A player cannot touch the ball or an opponent in the opponent s space before or during the opponents hit. Contact with the net is a fault, even when a player s momentum causes them to contact the net. SERVICE When the serving team wins the rally, the player who served before, serves again. When the receiving team wins the rally, it gains the right to serve. Receiving players cannot block a serve. The server must not touch the end line with their foot or a fault will be called. When the receiving team wins the rally, they rotate before actually serving. The player moves from the front right position to the back right position to serve. Jump serves are not allowed. BLOCKING A block contact is not counted as a team hit, and a team is entitled to three hits to return the ball. The first hit after the block may be executed by any player, including the one who blocked the ball. Blocks are not allowed on a serve. Any rules not mentioned above follow those of the USAV.

5 PLAYOFFS Playoff seeding will be determined by the best overall records. In the event that 2 teams are tied with the same record, head-to-head matchups will determine higher seedings whenever possible. When head-to-head matchups cannot clearly determine a higher seed, or when 3 or more teams are tied, tiebreakers will be determined in the following order: 1) Head-to-head matchups (for 2 way ties when possible, described above) 2) Highest team set differentials for the season 3) Highest team point differentials for the season 4) Highest team total sets won 5) Highest team total points for the season 6) Lowest team total points allowed for the season 7) Coin Flip BAD WEATHER POLICY In the event of bad weather, we will make every reasonable attempt to make-up all scheduled games. In the event of multiple cancellations, The PARC reserves the right to shorten the regular season and/or the play-off schedule (and the number of teams that make the play-offs) if bad weather dictates such action. If necessary, make-up games may be scheduled on days other than the regularly scheduled days of the league. Neither refunds nor pro-rated refunds will be given if the season is shortened due to bad weather. The PARC will address every situation uniquely and will always keep the best interest of our players and families in mind.
