Since the inaugural season in 1996, the Horned Frogs have posted 312 wins in program history and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship in There have been 25 all-conference selections, seven AVCA All-Region honorees and three All-America selection in program history. 48 different student-athletes have been honored academically, while Stephanie Watson, Anna Vaugh and Calli Corley all earned academic all-district distinctions. A shorter version of the nickname, Frogs, is acceptable in later usage. 3 SERIES HISTORY TCU holds a 5-2 advantage in the series record with West Virginia. After sweeping the Mountaineers in the first season in the Big 12 in 2012, the Frogs have split the meetings with the last two seasons. was able to win in Morgantown the last two seasons, while TCU took the victories in Fort Worth. Wednesday s match marks the eighth meeting all-time and the fourth to be played at the Coliseum. First Meeting: 9/12/09 - TCU wins 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-9) Last Meeting: 10/29/14 - TCU wins 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 24-26, 25-19) SCTING THE OPPONENT West Virginia is also searching for its first conference win of the season, after opening league action with a 3-0 loss to No. 2 Texas this past Friday. Before the loss to the Longhorns, the Mountaineers had claimed victory in three of the last four matches of their preseason schedule. Morgan Montogomery has been leading the offensive attack with 3.86 kills per set, which ranks No. 3 in the conference. Montgomery also leads the charge behind the service line with 12 aces on the year, while also picking up 2.16 digs per set. The middle blockers on the floor are led by Caleah Wells and Hannah Shreve. Wells is putting down 2.48 kills per set, while Shreve is pacing the defense at the net with 1.08 blocks per set. Dishing out the offense is senior Brittany Sample with 9.58 assists per set, to go along with 102 digs and 20 total blocks. LAST TIME T: KANSAS RECAP In its only home match in the month of September, the TCU volleyball team played in front of its fourth largest crowd in program history of 1,959 fans but ultimately dropped a 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 26-24) match-up with No. 15 Kansas on Saturday afternoon inside the University Recreation Center. Playing its second ranked team in a row and the top offensive team in the country, the Horned Frogs (10-4, 0-2) struggled offensively and could only muster a season-low 23 kills on the day, while the Jayhawks (14-0, 2-0) remained undefeated on the season by recording 51 kills, six service aces and a.234 hitting clip. Sarita Mikals led the team for the second straight match with six kills on the day, while Jillian Bergeson, Ashley Smith and Ashleigh Martin each chipped in four kills. Alexia Heist fell just short of a double-double with 13 assists and nine digs, while Sutton Sunstrum was able to pick up 16 digs. Regan McGuire and Natalie Gower led the blocking efforts at the net with four blocks apiece. KRAMER COMES FULL CIRCLE On Dec. 29, 2014, former TCU volleyball player Jill (Pape) Kramer was named the third head volleyball coach in program history. Kramer was the first scholarship student-athlete for volleyball in school history and still holds mutliple schools records including the single-season and career record for kills and total attacks. Kramer had multiple stops before she ended up in Fort Worth. The San Antonio native began her collegiate coaching career at SA, before making assistant coaching stops at Alabama and Virginia. Kramer got her first head coaching gig at fellow Big 12 school West Virginia where she complied 66 wins in five years. BLOCKING MACHINES Blocking has been a key to TCU s defensive game since the start of the 2015 season and they have not let many attacks past them at the net. With total blocks on the season and 2.80 blocks per set, the Horned Frogs sit at No. 17 nationally and No. 1 in the Big 12. In nonconference action as a team, TCU has three of the top-10 blocking performance in the conference, while their 14.5 blocks against Nicholls State is the best in a three-set match. Regan McGuire has the top two spots in blocking performance in a three-set match with 10 against Nicholls State and nine against EP.

Natalie Gower has been a blocking machine herself and has a 1.02 blocks per set average. Sarita Mikals has also stepped up her blocking game this season and has 0.91 blocks per set on the year. THAT IS ONE BALANCED OFFENSE TCU does not just depend on one hitter to get all the kills this season, as opponents will have to be on the lookout for at least six different offensive weapons. With the 6-2 offense, the Horned Frogs always have three attackers in the front row at all times and all six have been productive this season. The Frogs boast not one, but four players who are averaging over 2.00 kills per set. Ashley Smith leads the team with 2.87 kills per set and Blaire Pickens and Regan McGuire follow closely behind with 2.09 and 2.13 kills per set, respectively. Jillian Bergeson finishes it up with 2.12 kills per set. Opponents can t count out Sarita Mikals and Natalie Gower, who are putting down 1.87 and 1.52 kills per set. The balanced offense has led the Frogs to hitting over a.300 clip four times this season. CONNECTIONS CONNECTIONS Now that TCU is entering Big 12 play, there are a multitude of connections that can be found between TCU coaches and players and fellow league schools. Director of Volleyball Jill Kramer is the only coach in the conference to have played and now coach at her alma mater. Kramer was also previously the head coach at West Virginia. Assistant coaches Sara Matthews and Brian Wright also boast Big 12 connections, with Matthews a Kansas letterwinner and graduate, while Wright was a volunteer for Texas the previous seven seasons. Director of Operations Sha Dare McNeal is also a former Longhorn and was a part of the National Championship team in Regan McGuire and Sarita Mikals are also familiar with players in the Big 12, with the duo playing on the same club team as Texas players Chiaka Ogbogu and Ebony Nwanebu and West Virginia setter Brittany Sample. NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS With the victory against Clemson on Saturday, TCU reached the double-digit mark in nonconference action for the 11th time in program history, fifth straight season and 11th time in the last 13 years. For the third time in program history and first time since 2011, TCU started the season 5-0 after defeating Abilene Christian, Texas State, EP, Dartmouth and San Diego State TCU has reached a program-best 13 wins in non-conference action twice and has posted two or fewer loses in the preseason six times. The best start in program history came in 2011, when the Frogs won the first 13 matches, before posting its lone non-conference loss on the season to Texas. DIG THAT BALL SUNSTRUM Since her transition to libero in her sophomore season, now senior Sutton Sunstrum has been picking up every attack that comes her way. Sunstrum became the 10th player in program history to record over 1,000 digs in her career and now has 1,064 digs total to currently sit at No. 9 in program history. Sunstrum has 52 double-digit digs in her career and has picked up 20+ digs a total of 10 times. The Southlake, Texas native has 183 digs this season and 3.98 digs per set to go along with eight service aces and 50 assists. MAKE THAT THREE IN A ROW Regan McGuire not only became the first TCU player to earn a Big 12 weekly honor in 2015, but she also set program history by earning three straight conference weekly honors. The Flower Mound, Texas native became the fifth person in league history to earn three straight honors after collecting Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Augs. 31 and then Big 12 Defensive

McGuire finished her opening weekend of play with 26 kills, a blistering.575 hitting clip and 15 total blocks. The middle blocker was the only player in the conference to hit above.500 to lead the league, while her 1.67 blocks per set also sat at the top of the conference standings. At the SDSU/USD Invitational, McGuire led the league with 2.00 blocks per set for the weekend after totaling 18 blocks to go along with 20 kills. After the third weekend of action, McGuire continued to stuff everything at the net with 2.00 blocks per set and increasing her season average to 1.89 blocks per set which sits at No. 2 nationally. SMITH NAMED PRESEASON ALL-BIG 12 TCU volleyball junior Ashley Smith garnered Preseason All-Big 12 honors and became the second player in program history selected to the preseason team and first since The preseason team is chosen by league coaches who are not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. The League City, Texas native has been an instrumental part of the TCU offense the last two seasons, as she led the team in kills in 2014 with 333 and finished second with 265 after her freshman campaign in Smith has been a consistent presence on the court, with the junior seeing time in 60 matches over the last two seasons and 215 sets. TV FROGS In partnership with TCU s third-tier television package, six TCU volleyball home matches have been selected to be televised on the FOX family of networks. The Big 12 has had three teams finish in the top 25 in each year and a total of 73 top 25 finishes all-time. Overall, the Conference finished 2014 second in league RPI, marking the fourth time the Big 12 has been No. 2 or better. Five league teams finished 2014 in the NCAA RPI top Texas, 15. Kansas, 17. Iowa State, 26. Oklahoma and 30. K-State. It marked the sixth time in league history that five or more squads finished in the top 30 and third time in the past four years. The Big 12 was one of three conferences with five or more teams to finish in the RPI top 30. 5
