2 Promoting Safe and Physically Active Mobility (walking, cycling, ) = an objective of several French Action Plans - 2nd NEHAP (action Nr.14) - National Nutrition & Health Program (1 of the 9 priority goals is Physical Activity) - National Cancer Plan (measure Nr.11) - Particle Plan (action Nr.3 of Transports section)

6 Objective : promoting safe and physically active mobility concrete actions the ministry of Health and the ministry of Environment-Transport have brought together different partners : - local authorities (WHO French Healthy Cities Network,...), - public agencies (on health, on environment, on urbanism and transports, on sport, ) - associations (promoting biking, promoting hiking, ) - organisms of education -.

7 Terminology : how to call these modes of transport??? Active mobility? Mobilité active? Gentle mobility? Mobilités douces? Active transport???? Transport actif?

8 Drawing up an action programm on «active mobility» with 4 parts : Research - Studies (taking into account expertise, and report on the benefit of the physical activitie on the health, complete with studies on accidentology, on socio-economical benefits of these modes of transport) Information - Education for general population, for local councillors (promotion of good examples, creation of a specific website, translation in French of the PEP toolbox,...) Regulations (taking theses modes of transport into account in local urbanism plans,...) Specific actions to target populations (children, elderly, workers, ) (increase the use of walking to go to school, actions with the enterprises to promote active mobility, and decrease accidents from house to workplace... )
