16 PDI Focus On Player Development Development over winning Create environment for player success Program uniform across US Reduce advantage of strongest/fastest Increase technical skills Keep ball on ground
Goal area line Goal line 12U & 10U Player Development Initiative No Punting, Drop Kicks or Half-Volleys Objective Promote play out of the back in less pressured setting; keep ball on the ground (decreased risk of concussions) Penalty Area If a Goal Keeper intentionally performs a punt, Drop-kick or Halfvolley an Indirect Free Kick( IFK ) shall be awarded to the opposing team from the spot of the offence Goal Area GK Punts, Drop Kicks and Half-Volleys are not permitted If the offence occurs within the Goal Area (6 yard area) an IFK should be taken on the goal area line parallel to the goal line at the nearest point to where the infringement occurred Drop kicks are considered punts and are not allowed 3
10U Player Development Initiative Build Out Line Introduction Objective Encourage skill development; promote play out of the back in less pressured setting; ball on the ground; reduce advantage of strongest/fastest Build Out Line 4
10U Player Development Initiative Build Out Line Introduction Placement In Region 4 the Build Out Line (BOL) will be painted blue on field halfway between the midfield line and the penalty area ( 18 yard line ) other regions may use other markings halfway halfway 5
10U Player Development Initiative Build Out Line Impact on Offside Extends where an attacking player can be without being in offside position; Current 12U and older Offside line and possible Offside area Attacking Possible Offside area 12U and older Offside line 12U and older 6
10U Player Development Initiative Build Out Line Impact on Offside Extends where an attacking player can be without being in offside position; For Offside, the attacking end BOL is treated same as halfway line in 12U+ Attacking No longer can be Offside in 10U Possible Offside area in 10U Offside line 12U and older Offside line 10U 7
10U Player Development Initiative Build Out Line Impact on Offside Extends where an attacking player can be without being in offside position; For Offside, the attacking end BOL is treated same as halfway line in 12U+ Attacking NOT in Offside position 1-GK
10U Player Development Initiative Build Out Line Impact on Offside Extends where an attacking player can be without being in offside position; For Offside, the attacking end BOL is treated same as halfway line in 12U+ Attacking In Offside position 1-GK
10U Player Development Initiative Build Out Line Impact on Offside Extends where an attacking player can be without being in offside position; For Offside, the attacking end BOL is treated same as halfway line in 12U+ Attacking GK #9 is OFFSIDE when he is in offside position when ball is played and he becomes involved in the play 10
10U Player Development Initiative Build Out Line During Regular Game Play As before, during regular game play the defending team has no location restrictions; Blue team can be in opponents Defensive Third goal side of BOL 11 3 OK in regular game play 9 1-GK Red team Defensive Third 11
10U Player Development Initiative Build Out Line Goal Kicks & Keeper Distribution: Defensive Positioning Opponents must leave opposing Defensive Third for Goal Kicks or when GK has control of ball; (offensive team can kick before defenders leave) #3 taking Goal Kick 11 3 NOT permitted for Goal Kick 9 1-GK Red team Defensive Third 12
