6 Showstoppers Policies: Please Read Carefully As a member of the Showstoppers Dance Company, you will be expected to: Attend all rehearsals and perform in all 15 concerts (unless you are double cast). Be on time for all rehearsals and performances. Schedule reminders and updates will be ed at various times throughout the process. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of all rehearsals and concert warm- ups. Repeated late arrival (2 times of more than 5 minutes) will result in loss of a show. Late arrival a third time will result in dismissal from Showstoppers. Any missed rehearsal or show will result in dismissal from Showstoppers. There are no exceptions. Adhere to the Gotta Dance dress code for all rehearsals and concert warm- ups. See the Gotta Dance website for class attire guidelines if you are unsure. Be responsible for learning your choreography and retaining it from week to week. Act in a professional manner during all rehearsals. Act professionally during shows by being on stage on time for all entrances, wearing your costume as instructed, and remaining in designated dancer areas in the college. The consequence for repeated disciplinary actions is the loss of a performance or dismissal from the company. Provide at least one address that you can check daily starting February 27 until the last concert on June 20, to be used for notification of rehearsal changes, etc. You may provide a total of 2 addresses- one for the dancer and one for a parent. It is critical that you check your s daily. Pay the non- refundable production fee no later than February 27. Production fees include costs for judges, choreographers, rehearsals, costumes and accessories, lighting, stage rental, etc. and are substantially subsidized by Gotta Dance. The production fee you are charged is a small portion of the total production cost. All Showstoppers costumes are the property of Gotta Dance and are to be returned at the end of the production. Performing with The Showstoppers Dance Company is a high reward. We ask that you respect your fellow dancers by not discussing Showstoppers during class time. All Showstoppers may be asked to purchase specific dance shoes. If necessary, you will be able to try these shoes on during the first rehearsal and purchase them through Gotta Dance. Details about which group will need to purchase shoes will come soon.
7 If you are double cast: You will be paired up with another dancer during the first rehearsal. You will take turns rehearsing your part. Performances will be split equally. Double cast dancers are expected to attend all regular and dress rehearsals for your section. A cast mate can not cover for you! Double cast performance schedules will be ed by May 15. Once double cast schedules are made, NO switching of performances is allowed. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in immediate dismissal from Showstoppers. Once you are placed in either Cast A or Cast B, your cast assignment may be changed by Gotta Dance staff up until May 15. If you are a cover: You are asked to attend all rehearsals for that role. You will perform the role in rehearsals or performances if the dancer cast in that part is unable to perform for any reason. Excused Absences You qualify for an excused absence if you are a graduating senior, graduating from 8th grade, receiving your own bat/bar mitzvah or religious confirmation. If you believe you qualify for one excused absence of a single performance or rehearsal, you must notify us by no later than February 27. We will notify you by if you have been excused. Please note that if you are granted an excused absence, you may be double cast for the entire length of the performances. Excused absences are only allowed for graduations or dancer s own religious commitments there will be no exceptions made. Dancers will not be excused from rehearsal or a show for any reason other than their own graduation or religious confirmation or bat/bar mitzvah. This includes illness, family emergencies, or hospitalization. Graded school concerts/events or college testing are not considered excused absences. Please check your end of the year activities and SAT/ACT testing dates before committing to Showstoppers. Note: Gotta Dance is not responsible for dancers when they are not in rehearsal. Dancers may drive with older dancers in between rehearsals at their own risk. Additional Tickets Please note that Showstoppers do not receive additional tickets beyond their normal class allotment. A limited number of tickets may be available for purchase. You may also want to volunteer to help backstage or usher- this allows you to watch the show from the rear of the theater without a ticket. Since you were accepted into the Showstoppers Dance Company, you are also accepted to the Dynamite Dance Team! If you wish to participate in Dynamite, please Dynamite@Gotta-Dance.com with your name and subject(s). If you participate in Showstoppers, you are also invited to join the award-winning Immortal Dance Force! Details to follow.
