2 MEETING MINUTES September The September meeting was held at Peter Ziehl s speed shop and began with a potluck dinner at 6 PM. President Richard Fox formally called the meeting to order at 7 PM. There were 41 members present. The minutes of the August meeting are posted on the website and included in the newsletter. Steve Primavera presented the Treasurer s report indicating a favorable position in advance of the annual Corvette show. Bill Bordwine reported that we have 77 full paid members. Jim Martin discussed the October 1 st Good Shepherd Golf tournament. CFC donated $300 as a tee sponsor. One full team of golfers has signed up to play and following the meeting other members indicated that plans for a second team are in the works. Upcoming events include a cruise and dine on October 6 to the Felix Café and a picnic and poker run to Moores Creek National Battlefield on October 27. Annual Corvette Show September 16 Tony Caracciolo reported that the show tee shirts are ready for the show. Workers will receive a free shirt from their team leaders. Shirts will be sold at the show for $5. The POD and other equipment will be delivered to the show site on Friday morning (September 14). Parking team members should be at the show site by 7:30 and registration team members by 8:00. Member s cars are to be parked along Oleander Dr. If you have multiple Corvettes please bring as many as you can arrange. The next meeting will be on October 2 nd at Waterman s Brewing Company. 3 Presidents Message Our 11th annual Corvette Show is Sunday October 7, AM till 2 PM. NOTE DATE CHANGE DO TO WEATHER Thank you to everyone that has volunteered and donated to help make our eleventh show a success. This is a charity car show with proceeds split between The Food Bank of central & Eastern North Carolina and The Vietnam Veterans of America. If you are helping with parking and set up you will need to be at Independence mall at 7:30 AM. All members should try to arrive before 8:30 AM to get parked along Oleander with the other club Corvettes. Registration runs from 9AM to 11AM Judging starts at 11AM Silent auction ends at 1PM Awards presentation at 2PM Members will have the option of having their Corvette voted on by the car show participants. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 votes received. If you wish to have your car judged you'll need to be at the show no later than 8:30 AM. Once you park your Corvette check-in at the Registration desk and pick-up your window card with your cars number. CFC Members please wear your CFC logo polo shirt if you have one. People who signed up to work can pick up their free show T-shirt from their work group leader at the show. All pre-ordered shirts will have your name on the tag. Exchanges can be made at the T-shirt sales table (based on availability) at the show only. Please make every attempt to mingle with our show participants. Let them know we have a silent auction and a NCM store for them to check out. We will have a 50/50 again this year and we also have show t-shirts for only $5.00. Water and soft drinks will be available from the Vietnam veterans but you may also want to bring your own to be on the safe side, it can get hot in the parking lot. 4 Ambassador Report September 2018 Cape Fear Corvettes, Wilmington, NC is a One Acre Club Donald & Debra Paulson Master Ambassadors & Life Members NCM Corvette Clubs and Museum Ambassadors received awards and recognition as part of the National Corvette Museum s 24th Anniversary Celebration August 30 September 1, An annual recognition of Museum Ambassadors who go above and beyond designates them as Master Ambassadors. For 2018, 72 ambassadors (or ambassador teams ) earned this designation. Those club representatives include: Donald & Debra Paulson (Cape Fear Corvettes); The Corvette Hall of Fame

5 We enjoyed the dinner and the videos of all the winners Corvette Hall of Fame -- Mike Yager As a Corvette Enthusiast, Mike Yager has an impressive resume. Not only did he start Mid America Motorworks taking it from the passenger seat of his Corvette to a thriving business on 170 acres, but he started a Corvette club that grew to 200 members, served in the NCCC, served on the Museum board and ultimately became the Chairman, started one of the premiere annual Corvette events called Funfest, sponsored Corvette racing teams, led the effort to have the Corvette honored on a postage stamp, instituted the National Drive your Corvette to Work Day, built a number of interesting Corvette collections that included some of the most important Corvettes there are (including the last C4), enhancing the Corvette experience for countless others along the way Corvette Hall of Fame -- Tom Wallace Tom Wallace brought his love for cars, skill as an engineer, and experience as a race car driver, to the table when GM was facing its darkest hour, giving Corvette a fresh infusion of racing DNA Corvette Hall of Fame -- John and Burt Greenwood When Chevrolet wasn't officially racing, it was up to privateers to carry the mantle and defend its honor on the race track. John and Burt Greenwood did just that, inspiring the next generation of racers with their Star Spangled sports cars. National Corvette Caravan Registration will begin September 12 on the NCM event site. (This is only for the Museum; a separate registration is needed to join a local caravan) August 28-31, 2019 the National Corvette Museum will host the sixth National Corvette Caravan in celebration of the Museum's 25th Anniversary. Dubbed the 'world's largest moving car show', groups of Corvettes will gathering throughout the United States and Canada to travel together and convene in Bowling Green, Kentucky for four days of festivities. 21 CFC Members Fall Day at the Track NCCAR track in Garysburg, NC. North Carolina Center for Automotive Research NCCAR Friday October 19, 2018 From 10 AM till 2 PM With a rain date of Monday October 22. Before I commit to NCCAR I want to make sure we have enough firm interest to schedule the event. If you are 100% sure you will attend and pay the $200 entry fee, please send me an . If we get the required number of drivers I will confirm our date and ask everyone to send in their $ There is a good chance that we will have more drivers than available spots this event so get your response in ASAP. We have asked the Mustang club to join us since we fell short on our spring event and it sounds like they will take one group of 6. Same as in the past the cost is $ per car for 4 hours. Each car gets at least 4, 7 lap 14 mile session's. This is a non-racing event with 6 cars on the track at one time. Cars are spaced out and passing in only one area of the track. We try to keep it as safe as possible and after 5 visits we have never even had a car leave the track and want to keep it that way. I have attached the basic rules.
