2 MEETING MINUTES and CLUB NEWS No Meeting in July please check the calendar for upcoming events and see you at the August meeting. We are still looking for someone to organize the planned August 5 th trip to Brookgreen Gardens in Myrtle Beach so if you re interested in running that trip please let me know so we can get it going. It s that time of year again as we approach Cape fear Corvettes biggest fund raising event of the year our annual Corvette Show and Shine Saturday September 16th. This is our 10 annual show and it looks to be a big event. We can t do it without the memberships help so now is the time to sign up to volunteer and help out that day. We need a number of volunteers so please think about helping out. One of the most needed jobs is someone to head up the silent action. The auction is a major part of the funds raised that are donated to our charity and we need a volunteer to step up and head up this portion of the car show. Last year the auction raised approximately $1,000 and if we can t find a chairperson to run the auction we will miss out on those funds. 3 Again this year CFC has generously donated $ to become a "tee" sponsor at the annual Good Shepherd Golf tournament at Cape Fear National to be held on September 25. If any CFC member would like to play a round of golf at the event the cost / Donation is $ Snacks, goodies and post round dinner is included in the registration fee. If you are interested contact Jim Martin. jmarti2148@aol.com (910) The first four to respond play for only $75.00 Click here: 6th Annual Brunswick County Golf Tournament - September 25, 2017 The mission of Good Shepherd Center is to feed On Monday, September 25, 2017 Good Shepherd Center will host the 6th Annual Shepherds on the Green Brunswick County Golf Tournament and Games Day at Cape Fear National at Brunswick Forest. This fall event benefits Good Shepherd s work with the hungry and homeless in Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender counties. Those we assist include many military veterans who are served through our Soup Kitchen, Day and Night Shelter, and in transitional and permanent supportive housing at our Sgt. Eugene Ashley Memorial Center. In addition to the golf tournament, we host a Games Day which includes lunch and an afternoon of bridge, mahjong, and other games. Bid on some fabulous auction items and take a chance on our paper bag raffle to win some fun prizes. There will be a delicious dinner and awards for our golfers after a day on the course. This event sells out so don t wait to register! 5 Ambassador Report July 2017 Cape Fear Corvettes, Wilmington, NC is a One Acre Club Donald & Debra Paulson Master Ambassadors & Life Members NCM 2017 Corvette Stats Available General Motors has released the final 2017 model year Corvette stats. A total of 32,782 Corvettes were produced: 34.3% Stingray Coupe, 30.2% Grand Sport Coupe, 18.9% Z06 Coupe, 7% Stingray Convertible, 6.2% Grand Sport Convertible and 3.3% Z06 Convertible. Once again, automatics more than doubled the production of manuals at 77%. The 1LT package was the most popular for Stingrays and Grand Sports, while the 3LZ package was the most popular for the Z06. For colors, Arctic White was the most popular with 18%, followed by Watkins Glen Gray with 17.7%, Black with 16%, Torch Red with 14%, Admiral Blue with 9%, Blade Silver with 6%, Long Beach Red with 6%, Corvette Racing Yellow with 4%, Black Rose with 4% and Sterling Blue with 2%. 6 2017 NCM 23rd Anniversary Celebration and Hall of Fame Induction Aug Sept. 2, 2017 Every year around the Labor Day weekend, we celebrate the Grand Opening of the Museum in 1994 with a participant-focused event. This year, we mark the 23rd Anniversary milestone and focus on the diversity of the people that Corvette has brought together for a look back on the Museum's history and forward to the future. Registrants for the 23rd Anniversary Celebration - and the 2017 Hall of Fame Induction - can enjoy three days of activities in and around the NCM, including access to interesting and unique road tours, special video presentations, raffles, the annual open-membership meeting, and more! 18 Cruise in at Peter s Speed Shop On the Forth Monday of each month starting in January and running through November. I will open up the shop at 5:30 pm and running until about 9:00 for people to drop by and hang out and work on or just talk corvettes. I have lots of work to get done on my 72 corvette so you can help out if you re interested or if you have something you need done or checked out on your corvette we can do that if you like. Need an oil change bring the oil and filter and you can do it yourself and if you re not comfortable doing it so of the more experienced gear heads will coach you. I will not be providing food or cooking but will have the grill out and fired up. Should you want to bring something to cook feel free to use the grill or the microwave. Bring anything you want to drink or eat and a folding chair if you want to sit. These wheels were on the corvette when I purchased it in the fall. We did not like the look of the wheels and tires so we purchased a set of the Z51 Chrome wheels for the car and no longer need these so we are selling them there is no damage to any of the wheels and as far as I know they were not on the corvette very long.
