Although the Lions did not figure in this years finals, the Lions beat two of the top four teams on the home turf of the Gabba. The Easter Thursday night clash against Carlton was the 4th highest AFL crowd at the Gabba while the Lions win over Collingwood was one of the best games this season. So even in a year where the Lions did not make the finals, there have been plenty of Gabba memories. Moving forward to the cricket season and what a season it promises to be. Australia are hungry to reclaim the coveted Ashes following the recent defeat in England. The first ball of the first Test of the highly anticipated series will be bowled in anger on November 25 and I look forward to seeing you there. We re all working hard in the lead up to this cricket season. We re acting upon feedback from the previous Ashes series to offer a number of initiatives to better meet the needs of Members. These include: the expansion of the Members Reserve in the lower concourse the introduction of a pre purchased seat reservation system in certain sections of the Members Reserve. Planning for the Ashes is in full swing and this year will see more of a festival type atmosphere around the Test. David Buchanan and his team are looking to have a range of activities available for Members to compliment the on-field action. In addition to the five days of the Ashes Test, Australia takes on Sri Lanka and England in the One Day Series and there is also the popular All Star Twenty/20 match on the weekend before the Test match. All promise to be fantastic events to view from the comfort of the Members Reserve. We ll continue to work on developing your Members Reserve to create an atmosphere where you will want to attend and bring guests with you to enjoy the informal, yet superior facilities on offer. On the domestic front, the new domestic split innings One Day cricket matches should be worth a look. The Bulls will once again be on the hunt for the Sheffield Shield while the Twenty/20 Big Bash continues to grow in popularity with three matches scheduled this season. In all it promises to be a bumper season with lots of matches and the Membership Department working overtime to make your off field experience one that keeps you coming back for more. Blair Conaghan

The vibrancy of the MC Mark Forbes, Director of Game On International and former sports journalist, set the tone for the evening whilst wine maker Allan Waters from Howling Wolves showcased wines from Margaret River region which complimented a delicious four course meal. Ashes information Ashes Seating Plan The Brisbane Cricket Ground endeavours to offer seating arrangements to suit all Members for this years eagerly anticipated Ashes Test Match. For days 1 3 of the Ashes Test Match the majority of seating in the Members Reserve will be available on a first come first served basis. However, Members will also have the opportunity to reserve a seat within the Members Reserve for their exclusive use or their Members Guest cardholder if they wish. Reserved seating will be sold on a next best available basis within sections 44 and 48 in the upper level of the Members Reserve. Members will be offered licensed (section 48) or unlicensed seating (section 44) subject to availability. If both these sections are fully occupied, further seats will be available for reservations in the lower level, sections 11, 12 and 13. These sections will form a temporarily expanded Members Reserve for the first three days of the Test. Seat reservations will be available for a reservation fee of $15 per seat per day. The Membership Department will be communicating with Members via in the coming weeks with important Ashes seating information. We strongly encourage all Members to ensure they have a valid address registered with the Membership Department enabling us to contact you in the most timely manner. Ashes seating information will also be posted on the Members Information page on the venues website To register your address with the Membership Department membership@thegabba.org.au A whole new game Ryobi Cup History was made at the Gabba on Wednesday 6 October when the bold new split innings format for interstate cricket was played for the first time. Each side will bat twice, for 20 and 25 overs. Each bowler will be permitted a maximum of 12 overs and a new ball will be taken from each end at the start of the innings. There will be no power plays but fielding restrictions will apply as follows: overs 1-5 = 2 fielders outside the circle; 6-20 = 4 outside; = 2 outside, = 4 outside.there are 10 wickets per team and 12 players per team - teams can bat any 11 of the 12 and field any 11 of the 12. Bowlers are allowed two bouncers an over. Queensland Cricket is mourning the death of long-time Chairman Damien Mullins SC. Mullins, a Director of Queensland Cricket since 1991, passed away Sunday 19th September 2010 after a battle with cancer. Mullins was awarded Life Membership of Queensland Cricket in The overall champion team in the XXXX GOLD First Grade Premiership receives the Damien Mullins Cup, which was introduced by the Board last year. He was 49.

Needing no futher introduction Greg will be able to offer a fascinating insight into the state of the Australian team, it s chances in the Ashes Series as well as reflecting on Ashes Series past. This year the venue will honour the dedication and support of these Members with the unveiling of a 50 Year Members Wall in the Members Reserve. This wall will feature some of the famous sporting feats of the last 7decades as well as recalling some of the memories from our unique and longest serving Members who will be individually acknowledged on the honour board. One to watch Chris Lynn has only played three Weet-Bix Sheffield Shield games, but he is already in an exclusive club. Lynn is one of just five Queenslanders to have made a century as a teenager, having done so against Western Australia at the Gabba in March. Now 20, the polished right-hander looks to have the cricket world at feet. Lynn began the season on the rookie list but was elevated at Christmas and played in the maroon colours for the XXXX GOLD Bulls in two KFC Twenty20 Big Bash matches in January. Lynn has been on the radar for some time. He was Queensland s leading runs-scorer at the National Under 19 Championships in late 2008, and shone with the QAS Second XI that season. Twelve months ago he spent a fortnight in Sri Lanka as part of the Bulls development program. And last month he visited India to spend hours in the nets facing the nation s best young fast bowlers as part of Dennis Lillee s pace bowling factory. I don t want to have that second year syndrome that a lot of players have, so my challenge is to have another good year.

Bulls back to the Allan Border Field Australian first class cricket will make a return to Allan Border Field for the first time since 2000 with the XXXX GOLD Queensland Bulls taking on the West End Redbacks in November in a Weet-Bix Sheffield Shield match. The Shield match from November has been scheduled for Border Field at Queensland Cricket headquarters to allow Gabba curator Kevin Mitchell to complete preparations for the opening Vodafone Ashes Test Match from Thursday 25 November. 6 How to buy daily guest tickets for the 2010/11 Cricket Season Ticketfast tickets are the recommended ticketing option by Ticketmaster. Ticketfast or e-tickets are tickets purchased online that allow you to print your tickets from the comfort of your own home. All you need to do is select Ticketfast as your delivery method when purchasing tickets online. Ticketmaster will then you a link to your ticket(s). To pick them up, simply log in, print them out and present them at the venue. 1. When making an internet booking, Members must enter the membership number on the front of their Members card into the Membership Number field.
