CROYDON RANGES CRICKET CLUB SEASON 12/13 AGM BOOKLET
BRENT CROSBIE President PRESIDENT S REPORT
TREASURERS REPORT This season the club has made a profit of $13,431.10, but an adjusted net profit of $7, when cricket balls ($3,564) and Indoor Training ($2,673) were both paid for in the previous financial year. Also High School ground rental of $1200 has not yet paid (no invoice from the school). The Club is involved in a working group with Council and the other user bodies to make significant improvements to our clubrooms. Whilst this will be a long process the Club has made a decision to make a profit of at least $5,000 plus interest received each year so we are in a position to support any development costs with a sizable contribution. Our profit this year is in line with this policy ($5,000 + $2, interest received). Highlights for this year were: Grants received $3,050 o CBA $1000 thanks to Matthew Bell submitting an application on our behalf o Volunteers Grant $2,050 Bar an extra $4,235 mainly due to better attendance after games and 5 teams making finals. Social club membership of $920. AGL Electricity costs of only $ We had budgeted $1800 based on actual costs over the past 2 seasons. For some unknown reason we were being over charged resulting in credit refunds covering the majority of costs this season. Sponsorship $1, The majority of our sponsors are into the 2 nd year of a 3 year deal. However we did gain sponsorships from G & E Carpets ($324.50), Bendigo Bank ($250) and Carter Real Estate ($ plus our player of the match awards). This season the Club introduced member s cards, which entitled members free entry into our presentation night if they attended 4 social functions and into a members draw of $50 per match (the $50 accumulated if the member whose name was drawn out was not in attendance). When comparing senior subs collected less presentation night costs to last season, this initiative did cost the club around $2,600. However what it doesn t take into calculations is increased numbers at social functions and on Saturday night for the member s draw. Also this season we had one less team which impacted subscription revenue. The bar this season made a health profit $17,007 (this doesn t include bar takings at social functions). Due to the diligent efforts of Kerrie and Ian Spencer in buying stock at discounted prices this enabled the return on profit against costs just under 100%. Considering our bar prices are the cheapest in the Association this was an outstanding result. Profit from social functions was $11,299 (this doesn t include the Presentation night cost of $5,238 due to the special members deal). From a financial point of view the highlight was a profit of $8,204 made on the Reverse Draw. The Cup Day, Trivia, Christmas Night and Vote Count were all well attended; the exemption was the Poker Night which made a small loss. Well done to Callum and Angi for all their efforts in providing a successful social calendar. Thursday/Saturday night food contributed $2,505 profit. Thanks to Barry and Robyn Smith for running the Thursday night BBQ. The Canteen made a profit of $3,652. This was helped along by the Club hosting the U/10 Non Comp Carnival and Junior Representative games in early January. This season the Club made a number of purchases: Bar furniture Refrigerator Freezer Portable scoreboards for the Primary and Secondary Schools
This season the Club employed a cleaner to do 2 hours cleaning per week to maintain our rooms (volunteers in previous seasons have been hard to find). This costs the Club $640, money well spent as our rooms were certainly much cleaner, thanks to Kim Spencer for taking on this role. In summary the Club is in a strong financial position (Bank balance of $52,903.56), but we need to continue with our current strategy of budgeting for a surplus each season so that we are in a good position to influence major renovations to our clubrooms. Bill Stafford Treasurer
JUNIORS REPORT During the off season the Club undertook an aggressive recruiting campaign to increase junior numbers following the last few seasons were team numbers were falling. As a result we were able to enter 2 new teams - U/10 non comp and an U/12 Friday night. This gave the club 8 junior teams with an In2Cricket Milo program. Two teams went on to play finals: U/16-1 had a very successful season, just losing their semi- final to Wonga Park. U/12 Friday Night went on to win the grand final which was a great reward for two first up coaches in Ryan Trowsdale and Mitch Tarr. A number of boys played representative cricket Matt Low and Josh Cunningham (U/12), Jake Sali (U/14), Michael Handley (U/15 Hatch Croydon), Mark Page (U/15 Hatch Bayswater), Darcy Carrigan and Elliot Hole (U/16). Elliot s team went on to win the U/16 Turf competition with Elliot winning the trophy for the best finals player. At the RDCA Junior presentation night we picked up a number of awards: Jack Lee U/12-1 Friday Night bowling average Isaac Delaney U/14-1 bowling Average Mark Page U/16-1 batting average Douglas Jenner U/14-1 Encouragement award Daynah Hopkins U/16-1 Encouragement award Paul Trowsdale 5 years Volunteers award Ivan Lyons 10 years Volunteers award Alan Mills 15+ years Volunteers award (This season Alan also was recognised by Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria for 50 years of service to cricket). The U/12 and U/14 representative teams played their home games at Silcock Reserve. We were also fortunate to have the U/10 non comp carnival at Silcock. Thanks very much to our coaches: In2 Cricket (Milo) program Alan Mills U/10 Non Comp Alan Mills Ian Spencer Jason Paisley U/12 Bill Stafford Mitch Tarr Ryan Trowsdale U/14 Tony Sali U/16 Ivan Lyons Oscar McInerney Jake Register Hill Lachlan Jolley Thanks also to, all our team managers, scorers and parents who assisted with morning tea, transport, providing match reports etc.

Qualification To be eligible for batting and bowling awards a player must score 250 runs and take 20 wickets respectively. The player must also have played in at least half of his/her sides matches. For bowling awards any candidate must also bowl a minimum of 80 overs during the season. In the event that no player qualifies in a particular grade for batting, the runs requirement is reduced by increments of 50 until one or more players meet the criteria. The same applies to bowling except the number of wickets is reduced by 5 at a time.
